Yeah I don't really buy that they would put her name on there if the only thing she contributed was a decade old song (that was recorded on a fucking laptop) that only plays briefly in the background? "Music and appearances by" would usually indicate that something was contributed specifically for that project.

Ha, that's interesting! The bit about her being like a preschool teacher is really cute, I can totally see that.

I kinda wish she would live somewhere else for a while, to get some new sources of inspiration. Even if it's just New York or Europe or wherever. At this point it feels like LA is making her creation process a bit stale.

Let's be real, "blue" can be pretty much anything to Lana: dark, light, jazzy, carefree, the ocean, space... She almost never means things the way one might think she does.

As far as we know, yes. I guess it's possible she could be doing backing vocals on other songs that just aren't very audible.

Just thought I'd add this cute and interesting little bit from an interview he did... What was it like having Lana Del Rey on the record, she's a good friend of yours? Lana Del Rey was a huge part of the process, because during that time she was sort of like my sounding board for the different songs, and which songs to choose, and which way they should go and stuff. So I really dig her intuition about these types of things. Then she showed up on some songs.

Idk if this is of interest to anyone else, but I think the last track of the album, "Mulholland Queen" could be about Lana. Here are some lyrics from it that made me think of her; You were perched up on the ridge of town Will you sing the secrets in all 12 keys?
