yesterday i was listening to the tour version of Starring Role and it goes off so hard... like no other ballad has the same range as Starring Role. it's just superior. Liability who? To The Hilt who? Praying who? Halo who? Someone Like You who?

When and how did you discover Harry Potter? When I was in second grade one of my classmates brought the Half-Blood Prince dvd at school and we just watched it like that. Also, every time it rained and the outdoor garden wasn't available we would go to the auditorium and watch movies, and a lot of times it was HP ones (I remember being scared to death in the scene at the end of the first movie where the guy turns around and shows the other face). I've never been a huge fan tho, my #1 book series was Percy Jackson, and I was 15 yo (or even 16) when I actually sat down and binged the whole HP series. as for the books, i never finished them (stopped halfway through the fifth). for some reason tho, despite not being a fan and not having experienced hp as a child, it still evokes childhood memories. I suspect it's because when i was young I was friends with this kid who had like 4 brothers and they were all huge fans of hp and whenever i went to their house we would play/talk about hp What's your favorite film? probably the fourth What about your favorite book? don't really remember Who's your favorite character and why? idk, neville bc hes hot as fuck i guess Favorite spells? dont know What's your House? ravenclaw What's your Patronus? a boar i think? which yikes edit: the summer of 2014 i spent looking at old forum posts (mainly flames and people arguing cos im messy) on people debating HP fanfiction and that's the reason why i got into HP in the first place (and also my main source of information) i kind of wish i was a teen during the years HP ended bc it looked like such a fan time to be on the internet

no, it's not that. she was "happy" in FROOT too, but back then she had an actual artistic vision of the record she wanted to make, with a consistent sound, visuals and lyrics, and it felt like she knew what she was doing. some lines were incredible (imo Froot is her lyrical masterpiece because it's such a unique twist on a love song that I can't... she invented nature, love, carnal flowers and bloody roses... Happy, Immortal, Solitaire, etc. are highlights too). when i say "uninspired" i mean that nothing in the record tells me that she was actually driven by a genuine feeling. the visuals are all over the place and don't make sense. the lyrics are corny. the instrumentals are bad yeah there are good songs, but it's not a mixtape, where you can just pick out the songs you like and it works just fine (like with N1A or Pop 2, even though there are no songs to pick out). a record is more than the sum of its parts, in the good and in the bad. and the rest is largely bad.

"it's not that deep" in a forum based solely on discussing music? i mean... saying "it's not that deep"/"just enjoy it"/"just be thankful she's putting out new music"/" be thankful she didn't quit" etc... is all derailing the conversion on a purely utilitarian level, "she put out new music and new music is better than no music so it's good" is not an argument. nobody is criticising the fact that she decided to release new music but rather the way in which she did... music is art. I know a lot of yall think music is just background noise to write your twitter rants to but it's very far from that. music is such a unique medium because it allows an artist to convey meaning and emotions with so many means at a time: melody, lyrics, timing, instruments, etc... as a chinese proverb goes, «it's not something they fucking made, it's some professional like... this shit is in different areas» if we go on saying "just be thankful it's music" we're removing ANY meaning anything has in favour of the sole fact that things exist. but then what's the point? what's the point of making music? there already billions of songs out there, and they exist, so they MUST be good. this is the same process that led lana to completely disregard her career. instead of questioning her choices and thinking critically people kept saying "omg yall haters... like she's releasing shit just be happy" like whats the point of just being happy? music is that deep. and now yall complaining lana doesnt take anything seriously. omg. yall deserve NFR to go south. i hope she quits her career altogether so yall can be "happy" that she released music

to me it doesnt really matter that she's not speaking on the album bc we've all seen how it ended up in 2016 (and 2017). but still the silence is kinda frustrating since we haven't gotten anything in 6 months, 1999 went absolutely nowhere and didn't become a hit imo it would be so nice to have a second wave of monthly drops later in the year, like spring-summer, if she doesn't plan on releasing the album anytime soon. i would die for an xcxchange themed ep but like... utopia at its finest
