I mean I did not say I didn't like it? I just said that it's not deep. Like the THOUGHTS expressed in the song and THE WAY they are expressed are not very articulate. The chorus is literally "underneath it all we're just savages". Even though the CONTENT of the song may be "deep", the way the message was SENT ACROSS is shallow because it doesn't add nothing new to the discussion around humanity being savage. She doesn't use particularly interesting metaphors and the song is very standard. You are confusing the content of the song with how the content itself was conveyed. There's nothing new, interesting, smart, brilliant, never-heard-before about Savages. it's a run-of-the-mill song on how humans are evil and savages. Like it just repeats a sentence. It's not about liking Regina more, it's about showing you that you can express the same (well, more or less) content in a lot of ways. Froot is a brilliant song because it talks about a common topic (love) subverting completely the rules and expressing her feelings through the seasons changing and shifting. which is brilliant. Savages is boring because it talks about a common topic with 0 originality. it's boring. edit: im not even hating on savages i like the damn song it's just that i recognise that it's not marina's best work and she's done so much better and can do so much better????
