charli xcx has never been the posterchild of a generation (i mean, i fucking wish). avril lost her momentum just like every other famous artist did after 10 years of a solid career. she's not dead, she's just not at the top of her game like in 2011 bc fame isn't forever. it's natural. as for charli... yeah i kinda wish she moved on from pc music too, but not to ditch it, just to implement it in her sound and make something new of it. like a third pc mixtape + pop/pc 3rd album would be perfect

i get what you're saying but she doesn't... like, yall (or more in general, her fans) depend on her more than she depends on you. that's why she got the success she has. it's not like yall are going out of your way to make her famous or give her something that's not to say she should act like this. i agree she should understand where her fans are coming from. also her fanbase is barely through middle school so what is she complaining about

that cover is the laziest shit ever... like it's literally a tilted upclose picture of her face in black and white. wow???? let's analyse Marina's visuals throughout history: Mermaid vs Sailor era: webcam aeshtetic, italic comic sans ms-ish font, colorful, over the top, kitsch... we stan TFJ: Her artist literally hand-drew and hand-painted all of her covers... on top of which he actually had an artistic vision behind them, took inspiration from previous cover art and had an actual meaning... also they were bomb EH: Literally her best photoshoots, so captivating the way Caspar was able to tell a story by simply taking pictures of her. From the lighting to the set to the backdrop... everything was perfect. The cover is very bubblegummy and vibrant just like the album Froot: Beautiful 80s inspired kate bush rip offs. The cover is gorgeous. i mean you get the point and now........... a black and white cropped upclose pic of her face. like marina has a background of stunning visuals and we're really praising her for this... ok edit: that's not to say i like the other cover, it looks too fantasy-ish and doesn't suit this era at all. it's still an improvement tho cause it looks they actually cared about what they were doing and had an artistic vision? F+L looks so uninspired

Charli may have invented music and homosexuality and conversion therapy with N1A/Pop2 but sometimes we forget that she also invented counterculture, the whole pop/punk scene and being a teenage in 80s England with Sucker She did NOT come to play. Sucker is really peak uk culture, I imagine it as an overweight white blonde boy with a buzzcut and mild acne who wears Adidas tracksuits and speaks unintelligibile gibberish while eating fish and chips and laughing at “pakis”
