this is making me rethink my previous comment -- i don't think the relationship in this song is as happy and stable as i thought before. i kind of overlooked the whole "you're the boss" thing. it really does sound regretful when she says it at the end. if it weren't for that one line, this song would seem more like a carefree and happy love song. the way she sings "because you're the boss" at the very end makes me feel like it's almost a cry for help, like everyone thinks they're so happy and in love but secretly she wants out. i could be overthinking it like maybe it is just a line but that's what i was kind of getting from it after listening again.

i definitely thought of never let me go when i listened to this song but this one does seem happier. i feel like this song is about a more stable relationship where they're having fun and it's light and happy whereas nlmg deals with a less stable relationship where she needs confirmation that he'll stay with her. oow seems more like they were in a rougher place before but now they're good and happy, compared to nlmg where she's worried things could be going downhill. but i love the instrumental of both songs a lot

right. anyone who isn't a Lana hardcore fan wouldn't watch a short film just to see what Ultraviolence will sound like. Some teasers or a trailer could hit much more views and more people would buy the album. Although I'm sure Lana still doesn't really care about sales.

I like this song of the week idea! So cool to discuss some great songs individually.
I think OOW has a great intro and outro, her tone in the last moments, when she says: "You told me not to worry, because you're the boss" just sounds so fragile and regretful, as if she really messed something up. That part reminds me of Your Band Is All The Rage, because she does that in that song too, when she goes like: I love youuu.....it's so beautiful and sad at the same time.

I once listened to this while on the bus and it was raining outside and it was all so sad and calm a true sadcore moment.
This is one of her songs which is great for setting a calm mood, like Yayo or Oh Say Can You See, and Black Beauty

i can't even take this seriously, seeing as the #1 "flop" was artpop, which numbers can easily prove was successful. i don't think lana intended to create some incredibly successful and world famous piece -- i think she succeeded in what she was trying to do. tropico is clearly not supposed to be a film that everybody will enjoy, you either love it or you don't. also, i personally liked the songs she used. just because they aren't the newest, doesn't mean they don't fit the film. i think all her fans can at least appreciate what she was trying to do with tropico even if they didn't particularly enjoy watching it (i did, though). just like lana's music, tropico is a piece of art that will not be enjoyed by everybody, but should be respected by everybody. tropico was by no means a "flop." lana's happy with it and so am i.

I will never understand these dragging lists. Make a list of what were this year's biggest successes, but why would you even go on and make efforts to compile such lists? It's really pointless. And the use of the word "flop" has been out of hand for a while, it's absolutely ridiculous that everyone use it on every single thing that was a worldwide succes... The worst is when they even use it on that ones.

Tropico suffered due to delays and when there's delays, people assume it's to build hype.  Especially at the major label level.  Seems like it just got over-hyped, but Lana had to keep mentioning it to remind us that it was coming.  Seemed out of her control and she suffered for it.

Tropico would have been great as a giant teaser to Paradise.  I don't expect a video for everything off UV, but I think it'd be really cool to have a short film featuring a few songs off of it.  It would build excitement and also satisfy any artistic indulgence.  Also the visual element to any music I think always sways people positively that would be on the fence about a song.  But that won't happen,  too little time I think.

    1. Lady Gaga, ARTPOP...
    2. TROPICO...The fact that she knows about it with 0 promo, proofs that it didn't flop.

    3. 20/20 had a part two? Oh.
    4. Kanye West, Bound 2...I like some of Kanye's music, but seriously did he really think he'd be successful with that shit hot mess that Yeezuz is? He probably did, cause he's an egomanic that thinks he can turn shit into gold...including Kim K.

He really lost his mind, I think.
    5. Azealia Banks
    6. Britney Spears, Britney Jean I'm actually kinda disappointed, cause eventhough I don't like Britney that much, there's always a few songs on every album I like, except for this time.
    9. The 2 other members of Destiny's Child Bitch, DC has 5 other members besides Beyoncé tbqfh. Le Toya, Latavia, Farrah, Michelle and Kelly and seriously...the one's she's referring to (Kelly & Michelle) are major superstars compared to Le Toya, Latavia and Farrah (who was only present as part of the Say My Name and Jumpin' Jumpin' video in order to fill the spot of LT and Latavia, lol), eventhough Le Toya and Latavia were really talented. Anyway this bitch needs to get her facts str8.

"Unconditionally" wasn't mentioned, obviously, cause it's a Katy Perry single, eventhough it didn't match the success of her previous singles, which nowadays is considered as "flopping".

This is why Lana won't tour the US!!!!!

if black beauty doesn't make it onto ultraviolence i don't know what i'll do. i like how much focus is on the words because of the lack of lyrics - the first song similar to this that comes to my mind is kill kill. and her voice in the song is just oh my god

i do hope there are more upbeat tracks on the album though
