  1. But she hasn't lashed out on Twitter in response to the plethora of negative press in the past two years, so why choose now to lie?
  2. She DM'd a fan and said she mixed up the names, so I guess that is why she deleted the tweets.
  3. I'm glad she stood up for herself for once. Also, I love when celebrities delete tweets despite the fact that they're already out there for everyone to see in screenshots.
  4. Expect 3 or 3.5 stars from Rolling Stone. Rolling Stone Russia gave it 3 (they don't do halves) and the American version, despite having a different writer, almost never deviates in score (and when they do it's always lower).
  5. Update: Still at 74 with 26 reviews. To be added: NOW Toronto-80 Mojo-60 Possible reviews to be published: Absolute Punk American Songwriter CMJ Come Machine Glow Filter The Line of Best Fit The New York Times Paste Magazine The Quietus Rolling Stone Spin Tiny Mix Tapes Uncut
  6. http://www.nowtoronto.com/music/story.cfm?content=198518 Counts as an 80 on MetaCritic, I believe.
  7. They've been dragging almost everything recently. That said, they did give Turn Blue a rare 4.5/5. They're not going to want to admit liking a Lana album after all they've said, though.
  8. MetaCritic update: 74 with 26 reviews. It will go back down when they add the Mojo 3/5 review. Still no official reviews from Rolling Stone, NY Times, Spin, The Line of Best Fit, Filter, NOW Toronto, CMJ, Tiny Mix Tapes (if they're doing one?), Uncut, Absolute Punk (they do pop/rock reviews too), American Songwriter.
  9. http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/62846/Lana-Del-Rey-Ultraviolence/ Staff review...4.3/5 (counts for MetaCritic as 86)
  10. But I think Lana implements a "real message" as well...but it's a personal one. She's conveying so much genuine heartache through her stories and characters. And I would disagree with your opinion that they are not incredible. I listen to a very large variety of music from all generations and Lana's ability to paint a portrait with her words puts her above most for me. It's very poetic and full of lush imagery with some great irony as well. I think she has better lyrics in her extensive, unreleased catalogue but UV's are definitely up there and severely underrated by critics.
  11. I thought the UV lyrics were incredible...I don't get why they're so divisive. It seems like there is a lot of misinterpretation and too much questioning of authenticity, which totally misses the point of emotional resonance.
  12. Lana didn't have any US promo, so Kim and Kanye are doing it for her.
  13. Nervous about Rolling Stone. They will probably update with the UV review at midnight tonight or tomorrow, and it will be weighted very heavily due to the magazine's prestige. Maybe we will be pleasantly surprised.
  14. The only one missing is Mojo's 60, I think. Still waiting on reviews from Rolling Stone, New York Times, The Line of Best FIt, NOW, No Ripcord, Paste Magazine, Sputnikmusic, Tiny Mix Tapes, MusicOMH.
  15. Also, is the New York Times not doing an official review because of their interview with Lana?
  16. I'm going to guess a 3/5. Or maybe a 3.5/5 if they're feeling "generous." A 4/5 would be shocking tbh.
  17. I'm assuming that Rolling Stone just isn't finished with their review for UV, but I sort of hope that they forget to upload it.
  18. 75 with 21 reviews. Still needs to add: Billboard-83 Mojo-60 Chicago Tribune-50
  19. "But absorbing though Ultraviolence is, the album could certainly do with a dollop more musical levity. Without the hip-hop beats that peppered her first album, the songs here lack a sprinkling of brashness – a little of the Kim and Kanye touch would have helped." He's comparing the album to an entirely different genre. Many classic albums have also been dour and cohesive in tone, but sonically intricate. It's a bit odd to give an album a lower rating because of a lack of levity and higher tempo, as he said himself. The rest of the review seems fair, yes.
  20. I think the new reviews should balance each other out for the most part. It will probably fall to low 70s, but the COS and BG reviews will help keep stabilize the score.
  21. 3/5 from The Telegraph because the album isn't happy enough. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/cdreviews/10902497/Lana-Del-Rey-Ultraviolence-review-dark-and-cinematic.html Metacritic: 76 with 16 reviews. Reviews that need to be added: Consequence of Sound-100 Billboard-83 Boston Globe-Somewhere around 80-90 Mojo-60 NME-60 The Telegraph-60 Chicago Tribune-50 The A.V. Club-42
  22. Unfortunately, that's a quote from the Billboard review.
  23. I'm surprised that more people aren't questioning the lack of Rolling Stone review! It's so strange...almost like they didn't want to admit to liking it after how they've maligned her in the past.
