  1. I wish there was a screenshot of that too. I want to know where his review of UV is. Because that was just a critique of Lana Del Rey, the person.
  2. Derek's review for The 405 is up. 3/10 http://www.thefourohfive.com/review/article/lana-del-rey-ultraviolence-140 This would be the third negative review from The 405 to ever go up on MetaCritic.
  3. Pitchfork (7.1): http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/19449-lana-del-rey-ultraviolence/ PrettyMuchAmazing (A-): http://prettymuchamazing.com/reviews/lana-del-rey-ultraviolence --- Pitchfork's review is great minus a couple of things. I think people don't realize how much is true from the emotion and stories of the Lana "character." No one knows Lana well enough to judge her authenticity and it really doesn't affect the quality of her musical output. And he takes the BrBy lyrics a little too seriously. I wouldn't call it camp, but a realistic balance of pain, beauty, and humor. Lana's music reflects all elements of everyday life.

  5. I really wish Flipside was one of the main bonus tracks. It's so incredibly beautiful and that guitar outro gives me chills.
  6. "She is no feminist or particularly deep thinker." Wow...
  7. Rolling Stone will update on Tuesday. And I have a feeling that Lana will read them.
  8. Seriously, though, someone with a Wikipedia account change the UV genre to alternative or baroque rock. It needs a source.
  9. The real sexism lies in the inability of a female artist to tell a story about being bruised from an emotionally or physically volatile relationship without being labeled an anti-feminist.
  10. It's so irritating that the album would be called brilliant alternative rock if any male had sung it, but a well-known woman doing so results in the album automatically belonging to the "pop" genre. That needs to be fixed ASAP.
  11. Also, someone fix the genre for Ultraviolence on Wikipedia. It says pop. -_- It should be alternative rock or chamber rock. Maybe psychedelic rock. A lot of articles mention the shoegaze influence as well. You need to cute a source, but there should be many.
  12. ‏@RideMyWildHeart 41m @LanaDelRey #ULTRAVIOLENCE review completed. Thoughts to be published next week #hypnotic #maturation #indigofunk #MONEYPOWERGLORY Is this the author of the Pop Matters review that we already know about?
  13. I don't think it will go higher (Pitchfork, RS, and TMT could be pretty low) but it gives UV a greater chance of remaining in the 70s.
  14. She's at 81 on MetaCritic after the EW review! I hope it doesn't drop too much.
  15. MetaCritic reviews to look forward to: Consequence of Sound (LDRO said it was very positive) New York Times (very positive notes in the interview, but will the reviewer agree?) Pretty Much Amazing (tweeted that the album was "very good") Rolling Stone (I wouldn't expect anything above a 3/5, but will be interesting to read) Billboard (they have been in love with her recently...see Coachella review) Pitchfork (change of heart?) Entertainment Weekly's 100 still hasn't been added.
  16. http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/music/posts/la-et-ms-review-lana-del-rey-ultraviolence-20140613-column.html 3/4 from LA Times. Reads more like a 3.5 or 4, but I'll take it. 75/100 on MetaCritic.
  17. The 100 from EW should be going up. Also, what's with all of these publications referring to UV as "pop?" It's clearly alternative/psychedelic/chamber rock with elements of baroque pop. It's interesting that any female singer with this sound has to claw her way out of the pop label while male artists often experience the opposite. (Case-in-point: Linkin Park still being considered rock).
  18. Expect something very positive from Pretty Much Amazing (which goes on MC).
  19. Flipside is so beautiful. Someone needs to be fired for leaving that off of the deluxe edition.
  20. http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20824995,00.html I'm really looking forward to Pitchfork, Consequence of Sound, New York Times (judging from the interview notes), Los Angeles Times, and Rolling Stone (out of morbid curiosity). But EW: pop as the genre, though?
  21. They count As as 100s on their MetaCritic scale. A+ is usually just for their all-time greats list.
  22. Wow, that's really exciting. They don't give out that many 5/5s.
