  1. You can tell a lot of people on this forum have never listened to anything beyond 2010s pop tbh. This cinematic rock sound is exceedingly beautiful and emotionally resonant. I also love the subtlety of the sound that harks back to the songs of the 60s and 70s.
  2. I actually think that they're some of her best lyrics.
  3. I wonder if the thought of her first TV appearance in 17 months gave her anxiety. Get well soon, Lana.
  4. LDRO says he got a preview of the first review and the author called UV a "game changer." I hope the reviews remain that positive!
  5. I wonder if Lana will be able to grab the #1 spot going against Sam Smith, Linkin Park, and Jennifer Lopez. And I'm sure Coldplay will have nice longevity as well. That said, I would take critical acclaim over commercial success in a heartbeat.
  6. It's probably because she has returned to her alternative rock sound, which is not as popular in the UK at the moment. The US, on the other hand, seems to slowly be embracing indie rock that draws from well-known artists from the 60s/70s.
  7. She was also in the top five for a solid week. LDRO estimated that she sold 40K in the US on pre-orders alone. She's fine.
  8. I think UV's lyrics may be a little too jarring for national television and those who are not familiar with Lana's story. West Coast is a very alluring song, she performs it well in a live setting, and it would be the perfect choice to attract new fans while dismissing critics as well.
  9. I remember how lovely her VG performance there was, especially considering that it was immediately following the SNL debacle. Letterman was transfixed by her.
  10. I am going to attempt to wait until my box set arrives. It's going to be so difficult.
  11. So, back to Ultraviolence. I wonder when we will get snippets.
  12. He is very aware that my English is well above average. He is just reaching for personal insults to prove a point that lacks a foundation.
  13. "I'll pray for you Kathi - u and that disgusting mouth of yours. God bless."
  14. So illiterate that I graduated from a major university with honors in under four years and with a minor in English? Take a seat, child. You're derailing the thread with your attention-seeking.
  15. Uh oh, everyone, watch out. We've got a middle school debate captain here. I explained my opinion on NA a few posts down. Also, who do you even post here?
  16. The National Anthem lyrics were clearly supposed to be critical of hedonism. The irony of "what's your address," the lines in the bridge about drinking and driving, excessive buying, and overdosing. There's even a reference to the damn Queen of Saigon, the quintessential symbol of excess wealth without substance.
  17. She called it her "indulgence." And wow, a woman buys jewelry. That completely strips her of her right to criticize excess!
  18. I bet that one of the songs will be in the vein of Nico's These Days. Folk rock song about lost love that combines strings and guitar with contralto vocals.
  19. We can probably expect reviews to start trickling in beginning next week. Complementary copies of albums are sent to critics ahead of time.
  20. And I think her vocals sound better. Opinions are funny things. And the Grammy was for the combination of everything.
  21. Some of you act like you've never listened to music outside of the overproduced, generic pop realm. You also need to realize that your opinions are just that...opinions. Other opinions awarded Dan a Grammy for his production skills, and many of us find the mixing to be incredibly beautiful.
