Yeah I'm glad she turns to fans instead of saying stuff like "I was crying because they were all wanting me to sing and I didn't know what to do with my life" (me badly reporting her words)

I also loved the dresses and I'm sure she did too, I think she assiciates the BTD look with misjudgement... One can hardly blâme her with what was said about her but still..

I love that she focuses on the love of her fans instead of the critics bashing her from now on
Kudos for the fuck-you attitude Lana

Her diversity in video style is pretty large (not unlike her songs, when you include unreleased). She has splurged on past videos, like Tropico which is a (numeric) failure, but only in comparison to her more epic successes, which obviously had good budgets too. It really is an assumption that she had any money at all to do anything, and if she didn't have any money, what she did really wasn't that bad. If it's a faint for something better later on (I'm still hopeful about that), I don't think she'd divulge anything (I mean why would she, when all she's gonna get are endless "is it finished yet?" questions). So what other videos did she mention might be produced?

Also you got to love the way she's jacked Lorde's "anti-popstar" position (i.e., produced by iPhone, she brags), while remaining true to her dark sense of humor and kinky weirdness. The media soundbites on the video are also taking it seriously (they just describe the premise of the video, and usually fairly well, e.g. Rollingstone's). They are curiously non-opinionated (aka haven't slammed it yet). So what gives? Anybody hear any highly negative review from a music industry pundit about this?

The audio is always more important than the video for me, and I love Ultraviolence, so she could be twirling in a field for four minutes (which is what most of the Bel Air segment of Tropico is, yet people adore that, go figure) and I wouldn't mind at all. I think some people really want Lana to be a typical glossy pop star with this massive production behind her, some people even wanted her to have costumes for her tour and change often and don't understand how she can just stand there and sing and still be entertaining. I just don't understand why so many of you want her to be what so many other people already are.

lol I didn't say that. Sellout, please, she's not an underground crooner trying to make it big? I'm just saying that she doesn't seem to be into big budget videos at the moment and that I personally don't care but am getting annoyed at how fucking bitchy and overly dramatic everyone is when she does something they don't like. Expressing opinions is excellent and all, but opinions are not facts, and lots of people are acting like they are. Oh my god a mellow video, her career is overrrr! I think people just expect her to do things she's clearly moving away from.

As I expected the video is all about the aesthetic, for me there isn't really a meaning behind.

I remember when the cover of the album came out and everybody seemed so disappointed because it was not what we expected at all, it was so simple for a title like Ultraviolence. Later I read that Neil Krug interview and I finally understood why the chose that picture as a cover - it was a completely the opposite of what we expected to be. Ironically or not she decided to not release a predictable video for Ultraviolence.

The real issue it that maybe we want her to be predictable, so the problem might be us not really the video. When this supposed to be a bigger project ( because it's a cinematographic, epic love song song) she gave us something personal. Which is good thing because maybe this song, its lyrics it's more personal than we ever imagined.
Also we need to give her some credits for being sensitive enough to not release a video with suggestions of abuse or domestic violence

I don't think she is homophobic nor has she said anything homophobic...she would be ostracising a huge proportion of her fanbase if she did so. The song 'For You' appears to be about someone coming out, which could mean that someone close to her is LGBT+. I think the difference between Cobain and her is that Kurt Cobain actively spoke against homophobia, whereas Lana hasn't really done so. She doesn't appear to be homophobic, but she just hasn't said anything promoted LGBT+ rights.

There's definitely British 70s cult horror vibes, creepiness, deathly beauty etc. But the flavor it leaves behind is an empty tease, only hinting at something far greater than it actually is. Maddening.

I don't love it, but I don't hate it. It's just kind of...there. Shades of Cool was fantastic, as was West Coast, and I hope she'll do something big for Brooklyn Baby and Old Money. Maybe something Video Games-esque?

Looks like they had no persmission to film there or they were embaressed to run around like that

This would explain the way she looks behind her before entering the chapel and the "there's someone there" thing at the end

Considering this last scene, it could almost be a tribute to the Blair Witch Projekt
