Which perfectly describes the music video. This era so far is just a caricature of her earlier work, except without any chart success and it feels like her heart isn't truly into it despite her previous comments about enjoying working on LG7. And I guess I'm listening to a different song than most people because most of the LMs seem to love the song itself even though I think it's terrible and the single is flopping worse than I imagined. Ironically if the Monsters loved the song as much as they say they do you'd think they'd support it more.

I've defended her many times throughout the years on ATRL and social media, but nah this new single ain't it. It's a retread of sounds she already used over 10 years ago, except without a memorable hook or a catchy chorus. It literally sounds like a fan-made AI track or at the very least an album filler track. After hearing the song once I felt no interest in listening to it again despite having supported all her other releases, minus those dreadful jazz albums that nobody asked for. She seems unable to pick great lead singles for her studio albums after BTW. We had to endure Applause's mediocrity, then Perfect Illusion, Stupid Love and now this. Worst of all is that she also proved that her and her team know nothing about the mainstream pop landscape these days; this dated single is bad enough, but she made one of the most boring lyric videos ever, made the mistaking of not finishing the music video before the song debuted, and releasing this when DWAS is still smashing. This is going to flop, probably not even making it into the Top 40. This era is already a bigger mess than Chromatica, but she deserves to flop after releasing this garbage.

I imagine this is just wishful thinking or a joke, but she can't release previously unreleased songs from old projects on new albums because of a clause in her contract that prevents that, according to those leaked documents from a few years ago anyway. I don't like Harlequin and I'm genuinely confused about what the purpose of this project even is aside from Gaga satisfying her own ego. I feel like this album was a huge misstep and we'll feel the impact when the LG7 lead single comes out in October and people who may've been curious about her next pop single decide not to even bother with it because they'll assume it's another tease/troll like this album was.

Now wait a minute, didn't Travis release like six different versions of his album in an attempt to manipulate the chart? His people have some nerve spreading conspiracy theories about numbers not being counted when they had to use cheap tricks to try and snatch the #1 from Sabrina. After the Astroworld thing and now this, I'm convinced that Travis is a con man.

I like how it goes from 3 kinda/sorta normal looks, to space alien, 80s nerd, walking USMC advertisement and purple witch. But wow, what a moment. I realize that this is a conspiracy theory so it's not meant to make much sense, but she had already technically broken his record with Part of Me since that was the 6th #1 song off the record if we count the re-released Teenage Dream: Complete Confection album as part of that era. A 7th #1 wouldn't have made a difference in that case.

Admittedly I did kind of enjoy her floppage during Witness, mostly because I was still sore about the Roar/Applause thing, but I actually thought the album was fine as a whole. CTTR itself was a pretty good lead single in hindsight and arguably the only song on the album that had a good social message that actually resonated imho. Too bad Bone Apple Tea and Swish Swish were generic as hell and sort of ruined the point of "purposeful pop". Then Smile came and flopped harder, which I thought was actually a shame and I started to feel bad for Katy. NRO was a great pop song and so was HIH, but she was screwed over during the release of the latter because her label was stuck using early-2010s promo methods and not being able to adapt to the current streaming environment. But I'm back to being annoyed at Katy in this era due to her and her team not learning any lessons from her previous two album rollouts, and her actually taking a major step back by working with Luke again. She had garnered a lot of goodwill over the past couple of years with American Idol and TikTok making HIH go viral at one point, but she completely botched it. I genuinely don't know what her next step should be because she's pretty much dug her own grave.

I don't quite get this sentiment. It was a reasonable assumption in the days leading up to the song's release, but by now it should be obvious that neither the song nor video have anything to do with Joker 2. Stand-alone singles are a thing after all.

If I didn't know any better I'd assume she was purposely self-sabotaging her own career, because it's hard to fathom any rational thought going through her mind when she decided to release WW and Lifetimes. I can't remember the last time a pop girl era was this much of a disaster. Literally dead on arrival.

So they filmed a music video. Do we have any idea of when that might've happened? I don't recall if there were any clues that she'd filmed a new MV in recent weeks.

Wait NOBTR really was a Gaga song then? Because I could've sworn that when it leaked in 2010 someone from Gaga's camp said it wasn't her singing it.
-
Dunno how Donda got nominations when it was critically panned. And H.E.R. just keeps getting nominations for everything despite being relatively unknown.
-
I don't want an Artpop Act II tbh. The original album was good and I have no real problems with it, but I don't want her to release a bunch of Artpop rejects that will undoubtedly sound dated and most likely be mediocre anyways. I want Gaga to look towards the future, not the past.

I'm pretty sure that she makes most of her money from touring, and since she can't do that anymore, she has to make her money somehow. I mean yeah it bugs me that she keeps making stupid promo posts for various things that I don't care for, but it's not much different from Ariana signing onto The Voice or Taylor releasing 3 albums in less than a year; everyone's gotta make cash somehow.

Ugh I mean what she said wasn't problematic on the surface imo, but sometimes I really wish that she'd read the room. Lately defending her has been exhausting.

"Creativity"? It literally sounds like Madonna's COADF with a dash of Kylie's Aphrodite with slightly more modern production. Dua releasing a nu-disco themed album in 2020 when several other pop girls did the same thing is by no means an impressive feat.
-
The fact that Gaga won a Grammy award in her sleep yesterday while some of her contemporaries can't even get nominated; ugh, her mind.
-
God I hate when she goes on these breaks where she's barely on social media or just posts non-music related things. Give us a Chromatica re-release EP b*tch.
-
I loathe Angel Down, Come To Mama and the deluxe edition tracks, but aside from those the album has always been solid to me. I actually wish she'd do another organic-sounding album like that in the future.
-
Bloodpop needs to stop interacting with fans; all he does is spread rumors and set expectations too high. He's the King of False Promises.
-
I really wish she'd stop flaunting those pointless mesh masks. If she wants to come out as a COVID denier then she should just wear a MAGA cap and get it over with instead of trolling. Also release COCC already *****.

I'm honestly surprised that people actually like the 911 video. In my humble opinion, it's not very good. I think I might actually prefer TEOG's video more, and just look at the state of that. I dunno, I'm just disappointed that one of the danciest songs on Chromatica got an artsy, avant-garde video with like no choreography.
-
She can keep it. It's the most overrated unreleased version of a song that I've ever witnessed. The album version slaps and you can't tell me otherwise.

ROM has now spent 4 weeks in the Top 10 and might spend next week there, too. We love a stable hit.
