Okay so this was my first attempt at creating a booklet for the counterpart of AKA, which I named Florida Dark.

If you wonder why the pictures have a cartoonish style to them, it's because I thought this album had a more surreal feel to it anyway. It's somehow very theatrical and dramatic, so I wanted every pic to have that retro, flat & painted style to it.

Let me know what you think. It's just a preview so I might still change some details or add a few other pages and a back cover as well.

Please don't pay too much attention to the lyrics. I think they're a bit messy...

I don't mean to open Pandora's box here, but has anyone brought up the "Happy Birthday Mom" Balloon in the trailer yet?

It was rather average. The songs used weren't my favourite, and all the ass-touching scenes made me feel uncomfortable, because Lana didn't get to be objectified as much as the other girls - all she did was stand next to a pole with a face of a martyr, while the brown-skinned actresses had guys all over their asses. Idk, it just didn't sit right with me.
I think that I liked the Body Electric part the most. The colors were lovely.  Marilyn and Elvis were also pretty cool.
...Bel Air looked like commercial of cornflakes.

Three amazing, well made music videos.

    One weirdly pointless short film.

Tropico was pretty much exactly like I expected based on her comments about it and the teasers. Not sure yet whether that's a good thing or not.

    @@Ultraviolence Cola would've fitted perfectly   !!!
In the scene with the older men and the strippers, Lana should've been one of the strippers. She could've liked one of them really much even though she loves Adam ("I gots a taste for men who're older. It's always been, so it's no surprise.") and then she would've driven away with him in an American car and wrapped in American flags like in the lyrics. After that there would've been an hot affair ("My pussy tastes like pepsi cola"). When she sings "I pledge allegiance to my dad" there could've been a shot of Elvis who is shaking is head. In the end Eve would've realized that Adam is the one for her because Mary and Jesus prayed for her during the entire song. This Cola part would even emphasize the Bel Air scene. Lana sings "I won't cheat you now more" and with the old men she would've really cheated Adam and her sins would be even bigger.
     I am fucking crazy

I liked it for all it's opulence and simplicity. An oxymoron only Lana could pull off

On a side note, I am done school today(!!!!!) I am officially certified in my field!!! Here's to no longer being poor!!

Why do I have a bad feeling that Ultraviolence is not only a nod to A Clockwork Orange, but possibly a reference to her perception that she's been savaged by critics, had her privacy invaded by the media, her back catalog stolen by hackers, and current plans ruined by the leak of new material?

I hate to keep addressing this issue, but I hope my earlier post wasn't misinterpreted. I wasn't trying to start a pity party or a contest about which country's fans have it worst. There are many fans on this forum from far-flung places that don't have a snowball's chance in hell of Lana performing within reasonable travel distance. Obviously they have it worst. Rather, I was trying to make these points:
The low number of US tour dates Lana has performed relative to the number of European tour dates she has performed is unusual and disproportionate for an artist from the US (especially one that fetishizes Americana), even accounting for the disparity in her popularity between the US and Europe. The degree of disparity defies financial incentives and seems grounded in less than admirable motivations (either pettiness and spite or thin-skinnedness and fear). While most people in places other than Europe or North America have less or even no opportunity to see Lana perform, that is not that unusual for an American artist. It is unusual for an American artist to perform so relatively infrequently in her own country. A large proportion of her American fans do not live within reasonable travel distance of any of the few shows she has done in the US as they've been concentrated mostly in just two cities. A much smaller proportion of her European fans can say this. I'll not be lectured by Brits of all people about this when the number of opportunities they've had to see Lana is wildly disproportionate even compared to the rest of Europe. Especially when they bring it up unprompted.
But for what it's worth, I agree with you @@Lanakai that Canada has gotten the shaft too. You're collateral damage in her avoidance of US shows since most popular artists plan North American tours with dates in both countries (and sometimes Mexico). And as a side note, Toronto was actually the closest show I could have gone to before Lollapalooza.

You all need to stop arguing about Lana touring. Lana has performed ONCE in Canada and it was in Toronto, well before she was famous, when VG was her only pro video on YouTube. It costs at least $1000 to fly return to Toronto from the west coast (not that it matters for me since I get a discount but I digress) and normal people could barely afford that to visit family let alone to go to a concert. Canadian fans are the forgotten few. I'll have to sell my body and leave my country to see the Queen.
  11. fraises liked a post in a topic by evilentity in Tropico Premiere on Vevo
No, I don't think this does really negate that criticism. Though she likes to premiere her videos in her own backyard (likely out of convenience), it doesn't change the fact that she still appears to avoid performing many US shows (seemingly out of spite or fear). It would be fair to say, "Omg, Lana you never do any non-American premieres!"

While I'm on the topic, I think Europeans aren't always mindful of how large America is. The total area of the United States alone is almost as large as all of Europe combined. I routinely drive 7 hours each way to visit my in-laws without leaving my own state, just one of 50. For example, Los Angeles is over 1,800 miles (about 3,000 km) away from where I live as the crow flies. So when Lana performs on the west coast, it is over 300 miles (about 500 km) further from me than Lana's Istanbul show was from Londoners. New York is over 600 miles (about 1,000 km) the other way, further than Lana's Milan show from Londoners (and that's if you could drive straight across Lake Erie!)

To put things in roughly equivalent European geographic terms, imagine you're an Italian living in Florence earlier this summer. Then imagine that Lana has performed in London four times, Moscow five times, and once in St. Petersburg, but that's it for Europe, and she hasn't performed anywhere in Europe for over a year, which is kind of weird because (in this analogy) Lana is European and of Italian nationality and sings about old Italy in a lot of her songs. Finally, she decides to play Rome. However, it's a large festival so it cost 70 euros and she's only scheduled to play a 45 minute set, but you get tickets anyway. Later, organizers of the festival schedule another show at a small venue in Rome, but you can't get tickets because the presale sold out before you even heard when it started because it was never publicly announced (only the festival's Facebook followers were notified less than 24 hours in advance). Nevertheless, you consider yourself lucky. It could be worse. At least you don't live in Poland or the Czech Republic or something. However, now imagine Lana has toured America extensively (hell, she even performed more times in one particular state than all of Europe combined!), yet some fucking Yank on a forum (who even happens to be from that state!) has the balls to tell not just you, but even the Poles and Czechs, "Meh, quit yer bitching. Lana's toured Europe plenty."

Or to put it in Aussie terms, this would be almost like telling people from Melbourne that they should be happy because their favorite artist has performed in Perth a bunch of times.

OMG. Are we seriously talking about Tad? Where the fuck is @@Monicker? We need to reminisce about the 90s. (The Arsenio Hall Show is back on the air, y'know.)

Back in the day a lot of people would've bet cake on Tad being huge. Unfortunately, they had bad luck with a series of cover controversies. Kanye and his beautiful dark twisted fantasy ain't got shit on Tad.

BTW, I wonder if Kurt ever got to look at the color of one of L7's used tampons. Or his splattered brains in the brief moment before losing consciousness after Courtney shot him.

I heard that Lana licensed a "cowboy poem" by John MItchum for her "newest video".   IDK if there's any legitimacy but this is based on a friend of a friend's fb status update, lol.

Shorter @@ThorixB: Because Lana received a lot of uninformed, baseless criticism from haters, even longtime knowledgeable fans must suppress their reasonable, informed criticisms (unless it happens to be one you subscribe to) and must really be a hater who believes every negative thing ever written about her if they do not.

I don't think I even need to bother pointing out all the problems with that...

Instead of throwing a tantrum and attacking people every time they make a criticism of Lana with which you disagree, you could, you know, address the substance of their arguments. Or go on enforcing your "Lana is infallible" orthodoxy. Whatever.

Um, why Arthur Lynn? Steven Mertens was a bass player.

    Wrong thread.

Zeitgeist is an agitprop film rife with conspiracist claptrap including 9/11 truther bullshit that garnered a cult following online several years ago. It actually really disappointed me the first time I noticed she posted that because at the time I thought she was more intelligent than that.
On a side note, it's evidence against some of the conspiracist claptrap promulgated around these parts: that Lana is a member of the Illuminati. The film posits similar conspiracies and portrays them nefariously. Her promotion of the film would suggest she believed in such conspiracies, not that she was a part of them.
