  1. Side note but this just made me think of the shoot with Father John Misty possibly being for IYLDWM That would be such a serve
  2. No Beautiful strings on streaming? I'm gonna need to have a word with Ms. Del Rey At least I'll have the string version in my iTunes, though

  4. Nikki seems like the girl at a bar who would talk to you about your problems and then share a drink with you. She reminds me of a lot of women I grew up around, actually. Not liking country music isn't a valid reason to straight up hate Nikki (although, I will admit that a few of the jokes here and there are funny)
  5. I definitely see that too. I actually had thought about mentioning Lust for Life, but I didn't want to get too off topic. And I do think that Chemtrails was more aware of criticism and acclaim than any of Lana's previous albums were. Most of it was written on the NFR tour, which was right after the album blew up the way it did. I can see why she would want the next album to follow such a successful one closely and to play it a bit safer. I mean, I'd probably do that too
  6. At least I incorporated Blue Banisters into mine I'm a warning point virgin and would like to keep it that way for as long as I possibly can
  7. NFR is and will always be my favorite Lana album, but the reason the general public liked it so much was because it was so easy to listen to. It wasn't what Lana typically does and now continues to do. Lana wasn't widely taken seriously as an artist until NFR, and now people expect her to just make a million remakes of that album which isn't fair to her in the slightest. I wouldn't say that NFR is less authentic, if anything I think it's one of her most authentic pieces of works yet, but the lyrics and sound felt more like they were playing it safe than her previous albums did (which I don't think was the intention by any means). Blue Banisters doesn't play it safe at all. Lana plays with her voice and she makes unusual production choices and she's so vulnerable and open in the lyrics that it can be jarring or almost uncomfortable to listen to at times. And that's what Lana has been doing her whole career. You can go all the way back to No Kung Fu and get that same feeling. She didn't do that as much on Norman which is why I think it's widely known by the public as her magnum opus. It's her most accessible album. I just really don't think that people who only know and like Lana for NFR are going to fully understand or be able to appreciate Blue Banisters.
  8. I've noticed this so much since NFR. I don't know if it was others seeing the heavy acclaim it got or what, but after that album, a lot of artists have started trying to make their own mini NFRs. I find it kind of funny that BTD and NFR have been influential to other artists despite being such different albums. I wonder if people will start emulating Blue Banisters if it does well
  9. I think the atmosphere of Blue Banisters as a whole (videos, music, album covers, etc.) could be described as "cozy, autumn afternoon". There's such a particular vibe and aesthetic that's been built around this era and I can't even point my finger on how it was done, but it's stunning.

  11. There's also a rumor about a Clay-directed Text Book video where she flips the pages of a text book with her toes
  12. It ends with a close up shot of their feet as they dog paddle because it was directed by Clay
  13. The aesthetics for this era are to die for The Lana and Chuck pictures almost remind me of a dark Wizard of Oz, or at least the tornado scene. They're absolutely stunning and some of Neil's best work with Lana
  14. Lana entering her Stephen Colbert performance by crashing a John Deere through the walls and onto the stage
  15. The way that Lana has written about and shared her thoughts on the album have made me love it so much more. From the Arcadia post to the post on Honeymoon today, it's clear how special and important this album is to her
  16. Lana signing off of her post with L/E is so sweet. This album to me feels like Lana at the core, and I think this further signifies that. I've always understood and agreed with Lana's sentiment that Lana and Lizzy/Elizabeth are the same person and I think this album truly does show that. I don't know - just thought it was cute that she did that
  17. I've had a feeling for a long time that the reviews for this album would be a mess. It's a risky album in the sense that it's not necessarily as accessible as some of Lana's other, more popular albums. To me, it's a similar situation to releasing Ultraviolence after Born To Die. Having NFR be Lana's most acclaimed work, and then having it followed by a more mellow album and then after an album where she plays with her vocals (and other things) quite a bit, it can be a shock to a reviewer who's used to the Lana they met in 2019 and that Lana only.
  18. The only part of the video that was a little odd was that one shot of Chuck just sitting there going through it for a solid few seconds
  19. All four of our album covers for this era are from different "sets"/ parts of the title track music video
