I'm really loving the extended snipped or whatever it is of Cola

so far some lyrics of gods and monsters make me cringe a bit, but the song itself sounds so promising, so i'll have to wait to hear the full thing

i think i prefer aka version of yayo.

i love body electric, loved it since she sang it live, but i think "grand ole opry" part sounds better live

i think i'll like american, and won't care for bel air.

all in all i don't think it will be a hugely impressive album, but from experience i'm sure it'll grow on me, and in the end i'm still glad we're getting something new from her.

I think Paradise sounds fine, except for a little bit of over production on one or two songs. Other than that, it's all fine to me.
I think lyrically, she's still singing about the things she's always sang about: Sex, daddy issues, Celebrities, "Classical" America, God, and L.A., she's just doing it more openly. For example, she's stating names of celebrities this time around and even including their lyrics in the songs. something she didn't do on Born To Die, it's all rather interesting, just a few mentions are Elvis, Jim Morrison, Marilyn Monroe, "Sweet Child O' Mine," and the Tom Petty lyrics "Honey, put on that party dress," which she also used in Dangerous Girl. It's like with Born To Die she was inching her way toward the general public, like she didn't want to mess things up with them, now the public has recognized her and she's pushing it a little further by talking about all these great musicians, now that she's comfortable. Paradise is a representation of what it's like for Lana right now, she's past the crash or burn stage of her career, now she's in paradise.

How is sex not a deep idea? Everything about sex is meaningful in some way.

That was actually REALLY awesome. It wasn't too distracting either; it fit in perfectly. And that was from a really fuzzy sounding standpoint, but it still was awesome. I can't wait to hear that song in high quality.

She has plenty of already-written material she could have used for this release instead, but she wrote new songs which shows that she does care. I highly doubt she sat down and thought to herself "I don't really want to do this album so I'm not gonna try very hard with writing these songs." The fact that she has gotten plastic surgery, admits to hating performing and being very nervous about it, and plenty of other things she's done proves that she cares what other people think of her and that's she's very self-critical, so I really don't think she'd let these specific songs be released if she didn't care or try very hard. I think you have a horrible attitude in this case, you're coming off to me like this: "Oh, Lana didn't impress me with this album, so that means she obviously doesn't care about the artistic value of her work anymore, because she absolutely does everything in her career with me in mind." I don't mean to be rude but that's how you're coming across and it really upset me. I know a handful of hopeful-musicians and I know how much they put into their writing and their music, so I just find it extremely disrespectful that you'd go as far as saying she doesn't care anymore just because you don't like what you've heard of the new album.

This is insane! I don't really have anything to add at the moment, but your sleuthing is remarkable and it wouldn't surprise me if your a lot of your assumptions/intuitive leaps are correct

    O _ O

As for whether or not this is an acceptable topic to post, I suppose we'll have to let majority rule. This is surprisingly intimate and you have an incredible amount of detail that I wouldn't have thought anyone would know. Daaaayum. Smart cookie :3

Also, you're hilarious and the commentary is great :3

EDIT: I'm also working on my own version of LANALYSIS, which will be MUCH BETTER. Stay tuned for that!
