Blue Banisters - Pre-Pre-Release Thread
Thunder Revenant replied to Elle's topic in Retired Pre-Release Threads
I could see another trailer for Blue Banister single, video and pre-order happening in two weeks. Or a random buzz single with a pics-art cover and no information whatsoever. I doubt an insider would say that the era is starting if it was just about her posting something random on her IG -
Manifesting "Venus Fly Trap featuring Roisin Murphy"
-
I gladly do cause her music lacks any taste
-
I hope y'all remember this bullcrap when you decide to gang up on me for being a rude and terrible person cause I don't like an album cover LOL
-
The remix is a hot mess and it's kind of annoying that this will mean we won't get the next single until late may. But not y'all acting as if """"artists"""" like Tove Low or Bora Sawayama would have been a better feature
-
Not some of you actually thinking Tove Lo could improve ANYTHING

Born to Die: 10th Year Anniversary Re-Edition?
Thunder Revenant replied to americangothic's topic in Lana Thoughts
I'd LOVE an official release for Kinda Outta Luck and You Can Be The Boss. Those are still two of her most exciting unreleased songs and they are connected with so many good memories. It would also be a great opportunity for her to put out Serial Killer and profit on the thousands of streams it'll get. But seeing how Lana is, we will probably get a post on Twitter and Insta and that's it.- 74 replies

To be fair, she also talked about how they were purposefully "taking away" layers from CoCCs songs to keep them more simple -

The "problem" isn't Jack, nor their collaboration per se - NFR is one of her most acclaimed albums ever and I personally really loved it. It's the fact that their "chemistry" seems to be such a one-track pony. All of the fire seemingly went into NFR and now all they do seems to be pale, oversimplified comfort-zone songs without depth. Lana likes to surround herself with yes-men and that isn't too god for her work on the long-run. Rick Nowels is a great producer, but look what happened on LFL. Same goes for Jack and CoCC. She just needs a different kind of input to try and do something new again. NFR was great because it was a fresh "clash of minds", their first collab, just like UV was great because it was a product of a tension-loaded, newly formed professional relationship between Lana and Auerbach. She's a great singer and a great writer, but like anyone else, she's not immune to becoming lazy when she gets too comfortable. Just yesterday I heard a playlist which randomly featured her "Summertime" cover - and was blown away by it, although it's definitly not THE peak of her career. Still, itis much more exciting than anything on CoCC -
PTP is kind of a grower to me. I did not like it that mutch when it came out because I thought it was kinda overloaded. Now I really love the pre-chorus/chorus and i can embrace it in all of it's messy-ness, but I still feel like the verses are not her strongest moment both sonically and lyrically. Man's Worls remains superior. I'm SUPER hyoed for Venus Fly Trap based on the snippet and the title.

Sorry but just because that is a very broad and undefined category, that does not justify slapping genres on albums which obviously don't fit. There is no shame in using descriptions like saying MTWBT has a jazz-y vocal melody or Shades Of Cool has a psychedelic bridge. But most of the time the members obviously have no idea of what they are talking about and just pump out genres and comparances, because they for some reason believe that this makes the music more exciting or artistic or whatever.

HM is a Portishead-level trip hop record, UV was a jazz-rock-fusion album and Venice Bitch is the raw psychodelic essence of the hippie movement I don't know why some people on here are so scared of the fact she still mostly does alt-pop and have to put fancy genre labels on things where they obviously do not fit ?

Your Power is nice but it's not single material. And she should do something else than this "dead eyes"-stare in her videos, it's starting to get silly

"Being different" or "Not caring at all" is not necessarily equal to something being interesting or good though. -

But what could be more mainstream and generic than a badly edited selfie? -
It's iconic in a way that it marks her losing her artistic vision, yeah

How do we know an unreleased track is on there? Perhaps it's a finalized version of Cherry Blossom? -

So it's confirmed that this will be another ballad Don't get me wrong, I love her ballads (most of em) but after an album like COCC, releasing another slow and minimalistic track makes her seem like a one-trick-pony, even though we all know what she's capable of -
Lana Del Rey teases 'Blue Banisters' music video
Thunder Revenant replied to Elle's topic in New Releases
Yeah, it really has this Gone With The Wind kind of energy. Very OG Hollywood -
I'm currently reading Ottessa Moshfegh's short-story compilation "Homesick for Another World." Is anyone else reading her stuff? I discovered her earlier this year when I read "Death in Her Hands", which is now one of my favourite books of all time. I've never read such a good character study/psychogram. I also really liked "My Year of Rest and Relaxation". I read " "Eileen" a few weeks ago, and I have to admit that I was bit disappinted with it, because it built up such a nice atmosphere but then kind of went nowhere.

Lana Del Rey teases 'Blue Banisters' music video

Why are we acting like Blue Banisters will have a high budget music video? The video in the snippets looks like a simple visualiser shot on a single, simple set with just one look. The only thing that is "high budget" about it is that it's not shot on a cracked Iphone and has good lightning. Which is good - I'm not complaining - but I doubt that this will be a National Anthem/Ride/ White Mustang kind of video. -

I think the lyrics actually have a much bigger, metaphoric and dramatic potential. The way that him painting her banisters, having children with her etc. really plays into classic rolemodels. And the promise will either ascend into happiness or disappointment. So yeah, the snippets lyrics are already better than the straightforward banter of Chemtrails and LMLYLAW "devoid of meaning" kinda lyrics
