  1. Love the thread, great job!! We really had fun this year with info. Not many songs, but at least we're fully aware now that we have TONS of songs to look forward to. I think circa 2018-2020 people were saying the well was running dry and stuff like "Serene Queen" were scrapping the bottom of the barrel... since then, not only we got the Lust For Life names, but even more Lizzy\early stuff leaking left and right. There's more Born To Die outtakes out there like... we're ALIVE!

I really wonder what was it about this album that Lizzy hated so much... she's said a couple times that it didn't turn out how she wanted so I wonder what her vision for the album was before David Kahne took control... her vision for the album post Mertens / pre-Kahne is so interesting to me

I also think it's really interesting how this album was put on hold for two years because she didn't like it and we almost got a completely different album by 2010

I can't even imagine what this album would have been like if she went through with adding those other songs

      Hide contents

I predict the album would have been something like:

    Kill Kill

    Pin Up Galore

Hawaiian Tropic / Every Man Gets His Wish

    Gramma

    Pawn Shop Blues

    Raise Me Up

    For K pt. 2

    Hundred Dollar Bill

    Jump

    Diet Mountain Dew

    Motel 6

    Queen of the Gas Station

    Yayo

Could be totally off but I sense the vibe :whatever2:

But did she ever really explicitly say something about "hating" it? I thought she was pretty happy with the Kahne material and they sort of "hit it off" with the sound she wanted etc, but the real problem was the 2  years delay to finally have it released by the label, which then makes sense that she was "bored of it" and had a ton of different material she wanted to put out. She's always been prolific as hell and if she got bored between Ultraviolence-Honeymoon, I cannot imagine being happy with the album taking 2 years while being completely finished nnn.

I do imagine if she had her way and changed the tracklist, these songs are all very likely + kept Put Me In a Movie. Maybe "Smarty" too, since that came along with Gramma as the ~last songs and she seemed very proud of these sessions.

no i hate snippets all of my heart :um2:

As much as I hate them, we do get a good mileage of memes and desperation from Snippets. Imagina the world without  [SNIPPET] Pussy (Cola Demo)? [SNIPPET] Dark City? these are not just threads but they're history unrolling right infront of our eyes and they'll always be there, preserving the memory of the hard times of drought.:xcry:

  4. Thinking.

Outtakes (complete songs > Rough Studio Demo > Acoustic Demo > Laptop Demo > Live Versions performed once with potato quality) > Demos of released songs (Featuring different instrumentals > featuring different lyrics > different mix including vocals > unmixed versions) > Stems (personally I do love them but) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Hell >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Snippets

But we do love them all, don't we?

I'm sorry, I know this is not the point of this post, but she performed American nearly 40 times during the Paradise Tour and it was actually really pretty when she'd sing it sjrkgnsk deserves to be remembered x

The way my hatred towards this song just fully erased this memory

The fact no insiders probably even know what the notepad says:eartha2:

think some people might know based on the hoarding of songs. Like... some people for sure know if "Fake Rolex" is a real song or not. I really believe all these songs are circulating since we've got the most random stuff like 80s Baby, The Devil and Connection. They probably know if Elvis has been re-recorded or if it's still the same laptop demo and this stuff.

I do still have a lot of skepticism about everything we know for this "Tropico" project x Paradise x Ultraviolence and I believe there's a bigger overlap between the first 2 than the latter. The first mention of a "new album" seems to have happened on June 15th 2012¹, when a spanish interview published she had "5 new songs" and was going to release it in November. On the same day, she gave another Radio Interview where she mentioned the titles "Will You Still Love Me When I'm Not Longer Young and Beautiful" (sang a little acapella), "In The Lands Of Gods & Monsters" and "I Sing The Body Electric"². Circa 10 days later, during an Australian Radio Interview, she said then it wasn't "a new album" but a "repackage" with "like Seven new songs".³ It seems like a short time to change her mind about New Album x Repack, but we can also note that she already mentioned she added 2 extra songs (actually, 3, since Young and Beautiful wasn't released as part of Paradise).

My theory is that Tropico was meant to be the second album, yes, but that wasn't transformed into Ultraviolence, it was reduced into Paradise. The EP got 9 (!) songs on it, and we're fully aware that Young And Beautiful, Life is Beautiful, I Talk To Jesus are all confirmed outtakes from the Paradise sessions and they would all easily make it a 13 songs record, with rumored extra songs like Starry Eyed also being left on the cutting room and without extra information. July 2012 she was probably gearing up for Ride (video) and really close to Anthony Mendler coming from the release of National Anthem. It makes sense she probably had all these visuals in her head and for a moment expected to release it with a new album, but also realized she didn't have enough time to make a full record + film... so she scrapped the album but kept the Film with specific songs she wanted... I mean, Tropico does use the 3 key songs from Paradise, Ride already had its own Short Film, Blue Velvet was already used within the H&M campaign and Burning Desire was a Bonus\Promotional single also tied with Jaguar. All you have left is Yayo (a re-recording), Cola (which seems to be one of the earliest songs from these sessions and one of her favs) and American (a filler she never bothered to perform???). I just find it all too-tied together to fully believe Tropico was something that came from after Paradise and she really wanted to make a movie out of thin air without having real songs while using a Paradise song to announce it (it was first mentioned with the "Bel Air" video using B-Roll footage from Summertime Sadness).

Anyway yeah conspiracy. We need to start #TRANSAM thread.

  7. I honestly think every music video that didn't happen should be considered wasted pontential. Maybe except the military\war one lol.

Image used to be such a high standard and appeal of the "Lana Del Rey Brand". Music videos for Dark Paradise, Cola, Get Free, Cherry... all of them had potential. I mourn a little she packed a punch with her videography but ever since Lust For Life it took a real backseat. We did get The Greatest + Fuck It I Love You but... meh.

  8. James Dean is top notch and I'd love her to go further the demented-electro sound. It reminds me of Sunshine (rip her best unreleased). Make Up is fine; great bones but the demo was hitting harder. Starfucker is fantastic in every shape and form (both album & song). I love the funky bass of the demo but the final is also closer to James Dean\Erotic Electronic soundscape.

  9. Hell it posted before I even started writing nn.

Lana's too caught up with the "Folk/Americana/Songwriter" vibe, that's why. She wants her quick piano chords and acoustic guitar to do the heavy lifting instead of cooking up with the synths, pads, heavier guitars to wash the sound. I do miss it. I've always wanted a full on synth-y dreamy record in the vein of the original Lust For Life demo and these great cinematic soundscape, but she keeps doubling down on taking percussion out and stripping the songs away.

okay i checked gagapedia and wtf are those added titles that ive never heard before, who knows?

    Unknown complextro masterpiece title
    Stride
    OXY (Oxycodone)
    Never Again
    Let Your Light Shine
    Kick It
    False Hope

    Element Of Crime"

    LSD Art

    Private In Public

    White Rose Thorns

"Unknown Complextro Masterpiece" is something she said on the lm.com chats back in 2012 while describing what became "Partynauseous" and the conflicts with Indonesia. She mentioned she wrote "some songs", one of them a "Complextro Masterpiece" and the other as "Hip-Hop/Jpop/pop" song.

    tumblr_mco3exbHAL1qdmb8eo1_r1_500.png

Kick It, Element Of Crime, Private In Public and White Rose Thorns are all pieces that came from her social media, mostly Tumblr and Twitter, between 2012/2013. Since she used to tease a lot of lyrics and titles before we were aware of their existences, there's a big possibility these are all real lyrics. White Rose Thorns especially got some traction because she was posting about white roses like crazy in 2011 and early 2012.

Edit: About the demos, I'm 90% sure they're all real. Well, at least the ARTPOP ones are for sure since they're very early concepts. The rest could be Stems edits since they're labeled as "pre-mix" and there's hardly a major difference, but after so long and within a lot of "real stuff" going all together... Don't think random fake leaks would be bundled together.

How would y'all rank Allie's music videos?

    Catch
    Bitch
    Too Much To Dream
    All The Rage
    Paper Love
    Casanova
    Not So Bad in LA
    Sunflower
    Fresh Laundry
    Regulars
    Black Eye

    Catch

    Black Eye

    Regulars

    Fresh Landry

    Not So Bad in LA

    ... (a giant void)

    All The Rage

    Bitch

    Paper Love

    Too Much To Dream

    (Sanctuary)

    Casanova

    (That's So Us)

    Sunflower

Paper Love & Casanova are awkward because they clearly have bigger budget than all the rest summed up and multiplied and somehow they managed to fuck everything up. Casanova I remember being super let down by how... basic it was, coming from all the teasing with Verité, the text messages aesthetic, the mirror single cover... and then we got that. Too Much To Dream, All The Rage and Bitch are all quite good but still forgettable. That's So Us & Sanctuary being scrapped... I see the vision why, but they'd cute additions to her short videography. The way she's fighting for her life, quite literally, against these kids in Sanctuary... lord.

I'd also put I Will Love You More within the first group and Tongue Tied on the higher half of the second batch.

Purge got a SLIGHT studio run… when I messaged with K.I.D. Back in the day they said they were working with her to finish that one and that it was one of their favs.

the studio demo is leaked and PHENOMENAL…. Dare I say one of her best songs.

regarding Alexandra….. the song was released in its “finished” form. So the unsolved version is TECHNICALLY the final. This has also been the case seemingly for Misbelieving….However, we already know of 2-3 Misbelieving demos that are more finished than the released version (as in contain more production elements and polish). And just recently within the last year we got a snippet from a credible THM member of what appears to be the “final” WORKING VERSION of Alexandra. With drums, synths, the works. It’s quite possibly the final version in every sense other than it isn’t what was “released”. Being it possible this was the latest version of the song to be worked on at the time, but abandoned when Alexandra fell out of place within the tracklist. And let’s not lie, Unsolved release was very slapped together with minimal effort. She didn’t even bother to include the announcement interludes

Thanks sis your post is a full slay.

I just searched and the Purge demo is so great. There's really TONS of stuff that leaked over the last years when I was a little less obsessed with her. Collxtion II is truly an ERA.

  13. I fell down the Unsolved Hole again and God what a mess that was  did we ever get the Alexandra final version? Cuz I'm going full Mandela effect right now; every page hints that we only got a snippet of the final version, but I could 100% swear we had it in full.

That's So Us taking Too Much To Dream place only for her to openly hate the former and praise the latter. Misbelieving and Alexandra being chosen and none of them being part of the album. All The Rage iconically leaking in remixed-radio-edit form before we had any information about it AT ALL, then getting full single-with-music-video treatment and then being fully scrapped and never mentioned again. Old Habits Die Hard just being tacked along and the awkward CLX II mix. CURE being teased just to get followed by "Y'know what? It's all solved now gays xx bye".

PURGE NEVER GETTING PAST THE PIANO TREATMENT????? THE SET-UP OF PUTTING IT AGAINST CASANOVA???

But I wouldn't change a thing. Fucking iconic and the amount of music... she didn't have to serve like that, but she did anyway.
