  1. Mixtape has un certain regard about it. The way she's throwing everything at the wall, the more adventurous production backed with that glossy """hyperpop""" filter over them, it's really great. Troubled Paradise sounds way more refined and defined without pushing many envelopes, but it also shows her skills as a songwriter with stuff like Cowboys and how she's a rapper with Throatzilla.

I really think she's talented as fuck and really great pop songwriter. People were quickly trying to dismiss her as a porno-pop chanteuse only but then she came and served Letters, Over This and etc. That's just history.

What we've heard so far feels like stepping a little further with the more "approachable sound" without losing her edge. Manifesting her break-out now.

More likely poor intern and social media having to deal with people claiming where's masochism and having no idea of what's a Sky Ferreira nn.

Having a real statement would need to come from something too earthquaking. I'm not even sure if the Halsey thing was a real or just a marketing scheme (because at first I really thought it was something real, but then it all happened... too easily)

when Capitol releases a statement i’ll be happy. someone’s lying and i fear all signs are pointing to Sky!

Don't think they ever will tbh. It seems like their comments have been filled with people spaming about sky for some time now and all they did was restrict the comments. At this point they know that, if she doesn't keep it going, everything will fizzle out.

  4. The right thing would be if she kept going and inciting details about the whole situation. It was kinda clever to pull the video from Korea\2019 and show that the song is done and in Capitol's hands. But she can't let it fizzle away or, in my personal theory, go along with Capitol if they just decide to gaslight her with "Oh ok let's do something together!" to be followed by silence.

Every time she started to pull some strings, things happened. The biggest attention was probably the soundcloud situation in mid 2018, which she got her account back, dropped voices carry, hinted about don't forget and was showing signs of things working out, even on the Masochism timeline we can see that.

July 31st - Sky posts her Voices Carry cover on her Soundcloud and in the description mentions that she will be sharing more information about Masochism on there. She also gives a hint about one of her first two singles: "There's a fire on your street".

     (...)

October 10th - On her Instagram story, Sky writes "it's being made" and puts the location as Capitol Records, suggesting Masochism is finally on its way.

November 5th - On her Instagram story, Sky announces that she has finally finished her first single in almost five years.

    (...)

November 17th - In a reply to a fan asking about Masochism on Twitter, Sky tells them that her first single comes out "this winter" although she is still waiting for the official release date due to label technicalities.

November 18th - Sky replies to another fan on Twitter and tells them that new music will be released before March. (This never happens) (I find this unfair even if I cackle at every "This never happens" on this list, but we did get it before March... ended)

    2019

February 9th - Sky posts on Instagram and captions the photo "!!!!!!MARCH!!!!!!!" fuelling speculation that new music is coming in March.

March 6th - Sky tweets that she is releasing new music this month (for real)

March 11th - Sky replies to a fan asking where the new music is, telling them "end of March".

March 15th - Sky posts on Instagram and once again affirms that her single is coming out in March, although she fails to specify an exact date despite the fact that it is halfway through March already.

March 21st - Sky announces that her new single - and first official release in almost 6 years - "Downhill Lullaby" will be released on 27th March.

    (...)

March 27th - Sky releases "Downhill Lullaby".

April 1st - Sky teases "Don't Forget", a song she talked about in her Pitchfork interview, on her Instagram story.

April 28th - A month after its release, Sky announces that a music video and an alternate version of "Downhill Lullaby" are on the way.

    (...)

July 19th - Sky premieres "Descending" live at the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago and says that it is coming "very soon".

It's right after the "Downhill Lullaby Music Video" promise that everything flopped again, circling back to her point about them not really wanting to do their work and fund things. She teased Don't Forget right on the Pitchfork editorial before Downhill Lullaby was released, and that was teased as the official single with Voices Carry release\leak. They clearly were engaging and making plans, even changing their minds to allow something like DL happen first and then it was probably the double Don't Forget\Descending single.

Honestly every time she mentions "music video" is when things go wrong, going back to Guardian in 2015. I'm sure that there are many times that they couldn't work out things especially because of her, like when she was sick and couldn't get with Grant to film the Guardian video (or at least that's something I remember reading) or personal health reasons, but it's also just clear how the label isn't doing anything but taking their feet out of the gas everytime we get close to something.

There's a pattern of how they operate. Thank God we're coming to another FEBRUARY\MARCH (KNIFE EMOJI) to see the next steps.

this feels like summer 2017 when G*gaD*ily convinced itself that there was gonna be a music video for The Cure and they had a massive meltdown when it of course *didnt* happen

It could be so much worst.

Like when people thought that the ARTPOP countdown was going to lead somewhere in like September 2014.

I met Sky last year after a concert, it was horrible. She was rude and unprofessional. I entered the M&G that costed me $350 and greeted her, to which Sky replied "there's a fire on your street" and I didn't take it very seriously, because I thought she had misheard it. When I was telling her how I wanted the photo she looked at me with wide eyes. I kept telling her "You saved my life" I said "I'm still alive thanks to you and your grown roots". She looked at me and said "Masochism is very real, I'm just giving it the final touches" and then she whispered to me "my label won't let me release it". I started crying and Sky started laughing and she told me "Are you crying? Stop, stop now" and she hit me on my left tit. The photographer took the photo and I went to the M&G section where she started talking to me in procrastinator language. I still can't believe this happened. I am crying as I write this. I wish it wasn't true, but Sky is truly a horrible person.
    Thank you for reading.

someone needs to remaster rancid girl because it's too quiet

I wish it was a better song overall nn. Actually apart from Pretty Dull, I don't think there's any outtake that I would like to have on the album. One Way To Heaven is fine but I think that's older than the album. Wereworlf and Rancid Girl and the "acoustic production" are kinda boring for me. I'm on Top is... interesting but sounds like a looped demo.

Can't Say No To Myself though... maybe she was in her Crybaby bag on that one. But it isn't better than anything on the album so the "bonus track" status is ok.

  8. If it wasn't truly hell on road between her + Capitol, I really think NTMT10TH was a sure dead-on. People were going for 5th year anniversary thing recently (SZA, Carly...) since it's just a Vinyl repress and then uploading 2-3 reginal tracks\bonus content for streaming and calling it a day. We already had Rancid Girl and Pretty Dull that could be easily add.

Also the way she hinted about Guardian on that Story... "unreleased single back in 2014". She is truly mad. GUARDIAN IS ALIVE AND BREATHING.

Yes sis that's the spirit #WeBelieve.

I wonder if she can\will try to bargain a NTMT 10th anniversary thing with label. Could be the shortest patch for some cash for both sides and lowkey show there's still demand for Her. It's like... pretty impressive that she still has a local fan base.

  10. idk idk she kinda snapped

When this is all finally a plan according to Capitol + Sky and they finally release the album on the back on publications finally posting about her and having concrete buzz instead of the same interview that was replicated for different profiles? The mind of a mastermind

    :ma:

But for real, she's trying to make a point in "You have to see I'm trying to do my part and they're not doing theirs" way and it has been like this since she posted the Voices Carry cover. Everything is so damn tricky. There's no reason to upload her songs to Soundcloud just to have them out without any profit if she's spending money to make them, especially if this will just trigger the label to go "You already leaked it, leave it there them" and then do nothing. Unless some magical moment of stars aligning and some viral happen, forcing the label to do something if they want to profit over it as well, but that's just... unlikely.

It's looks like a real tug of war from both sides.

Anyway, yeah, the snippet she posted... slay. She heard the muddy mix and went Debby Ryan.

    Ryan, not Harry.

  11. Didn't she put a demo version of Tongue Tied on vinyl? one that cuts abruptly. The whole thing was kinda fucked up but I can see it as some sort of "Collector's Edition" with work in progress and so on. And then probably no streaming in a very "well you already leaked it what's the point then :)" way

omg that Sculpture version sounds very beautiful.

hatchie can't sing and has a bad voice that's why her vox sounds awful most of the time and i'm sure the vocal production on that one is intentional.

sky has a gorgeous tone but it's evident her vocal abilities atrophied after not being used for years and since she refuses to accept that and keeps blaming imaginary technical issues i don't think we're gonna see any improvements in that department.

descending already has superior cleaner mixes. the snippys are out there. it's not jorge's fault that coloringbooks decided to leak the worst one. :pout:

    Yes niece stan!

I need to check the Hatchie girl, I liked Soko a lot when people were throwing her aroun for wearing leather jacket and bleaching her hair.

  13. Does anyone has the Alexandra snippet? Not loading\can't find.

I feel like she ""lost"" some of her hype, at same time that Cape God seems to have injected new fans. The mass leaks we had recently would create a storm and I barely saw anyone commenting about it. Maybe people just got over leaks tho.

  14. There's no way she'd ditch the 80s vibe when her whole vibe is rooted on that. I don't jugde by the recent songs because everything sounds unfinished and God knows how long they've been going around.

24 Hours is top3 recorded music!

  15. Maybe if her sellout era didn't flop into oblivion, we wouldn't be stuck in this conversation.

At this point this is all just CAMP. I mean, the thread.

We need the early songs on Spotify so they can go viral and free her!!

  16. I just can't wrap my head around the fact everything sounds way more commercial than most of NTMT. The Woods sounds probably the closest thing from her early electropop days. Descending is a "grungier" take over the 80s trend. I Pray For Rain just had to be polished to be a cute soundtrack ballad single like they were trying.

Am I the only one who thinks that Sky has taken this much to create her album because she is very afraid of releasing a sophomore slump?

It's not only sophomoro slump but her nature as well of being """self-concious and perfectionist""". I feel pretty surprised she never mentioned any sort of change during the last 8 years, because we know how NTMT went through different encarnations before setting for the "grungier" sound. Every title basically showed up a different type of vibe.

I'm also sure she's aware of the "hype" of being on "most antecipated albums" like... every year.
