Actually for sales it’s a good strategy. The GP doesn’t necessarily care for the scores of reviews themselves. The article with the review will pop on your mother’s facebook feed and she’ll be like oh I actually didn’t know that there’s a tunnel under ocean blv, lemme check it out. It’s just another form of promo and getting the news out there.

Let’s not forget that the only time critics got Lana right was NFR. Cocc and BB (and to a lesser extent LFL) were heavily overrated while HM was tanked. I would have loved for OB to receive critical acclaim but it is what it is.

You obviously like uptempo pop-ish music, which is of course not a bad thing, but I don’t think you should be disappointed with the album. It was very clear ever since NFR that this is a direction that she’s taking. You shouldn’t feel obliged to like or listen to her. I also don’t think you should be attacked for your opinions. I missed the discussions today. Did you guys talk about the Mojo 80/100 review? What do you think this means for the metacritic score? edit: just checked that they gave the same score for HM, COCC and BB. Couldn’t see their review. So I guess we can’t really deduce anything from this. Their only criticism was the pastor pretty much. I fear that other critics will react the same way..
