i have a very hard time believing lana will release an album with her public image being at probably an all time low

she's blatantly showing off people, faces and all, protesting and committing crimes to her platform of 16.5 million people, making it very easy for those people to be recognized and arrested or killed. a reminder that a large number of Ferguson protester organizers whose faces were publicized on social media were all murdered in the months after the protests...

Welp, Lana fucked up. Her white privilege and ignorance were shown off to millions, first with her typewriter rants, and now this. I can't help feel awful for her, because I know her white matcha brain didn't approach any of this with bad intent. It makes me so sad to see such longtime fans absolutely obliterate her. I really feel like she's done permanent damage- she's back to being the laughingstock of the music industry when she was finally gaining respect and recognition. I'm reminded of the massive attacks from 2011-2013, but this time, it's from her own fans... I hope she's okay. having said that, let's remind each other that she is a white millionaire with a still enormous group of fans, while there are black people getting murdered for paying with a $20 bill- so, let's focus on what's important.

you can watch them out of order except you must watch Murder House & Coven before Apocalypse (and even then you can get away with not watching them). it's accepted that the first three seasons are the best and that the show went downhill after that, so I'd start with those three. my personal favourite is Coven bc I love witch stuff & stevie (whose music plays a big role the entire season), but the writing is a bit messy (but still very good). Asylum (season 2) is impeccable, objectively the best writing. very tight plot and a good ending which is something no other season has. Murder House is good but boring to me.

Lana released Hope in January, which was a very, very rough time in my life-- heartbreak, near-death of people close to me... that song was the soundtrack to the beginning of this new year because it could communicate the suffocating darkness I was in better than I could. Anyways, I'm doing moderately better nine months later, but listening to that song is enough to feel my world close in on me again, to feel the cool January air as I walked for hours alongside the near-frozen river and contemplated jumping in. But I listen anyways.

Not only has he paid dust to Lana for years, giving UV something crazy like 1/10, his reviews were always an attack on her character and reeked of misogyny. We don't need his worthless validation. We been knew of her talent and artistic genius and his unflatteringly late arrival to the party is a reflection of his weak mind in following the bloodthirsty pack back in 2011-2014. First things first, the quality of work Lana produces in incredibly short amounts of time is outstanding and should not be understated. With that being said, I would love to see what Lana could put out if she and her producers spent maybe double the time (which would still be incredibly short compared to other artists) on her albums. Lana has an extremely high album turnover, but that often means writing a song in an hour (see: probably half of NFR), not tweaking or hardly tweaking the lyrics, having the production done and then moving on to the next song. The songs are shockingly good for the process being that short, but I do wonder about the incredible quality we'd get if she actually took the time to edit/perfect her work.

Also, is anyone else just kind of unimpressed with Lana's newer, lazier, breathier vocal style? I just want to scream cord closure at her. I can constantly hear air leaking out and it sounds so grating sometimes.

I have to say, all of the snippets and leaks and songs Lana put out kind of put a damper on the album for me. I don't think I got to really experience even one song as an entirely new listen. Anyways, the album is gorgeous, but UV > HM > AKA > NFR = BTD/Paradise >>>>>>>> LFL and that's just the truth!!

I really don't understand how people dislike Hope. It's so suffocatingly emotional. Such a perfectly raw blend of nihilism and optimism and a perfect picture of what living with depression for years feels like. Just a piano, a woman, and her pain. Perfection

I gave everything a listen once, and I'll save any further listens for when it's released. I cried to California, wow. Such a raw song. Instant new Lana favourite. Anyways, I'm really disgusted with how everyone treated the Billie stan. As far as I can tell, this is another Del Rey management fuckup and they sent out the cassettes earlier than intended. The girl probably received it in the mail and got excited. That's not on her, that's on Lana's dumbass team and her own constant flipflopping on release dates etc. For everyone to bully this little girl and then laugh at her crying and saying she's scared is actually just gross lmao. Y'all are gross.

The snippets sound great and everything sounds so cohesive and beautiful, but let's not pretend this (so far) comes anywhere close to UV!! Does anyone else catch a little bit of West Coast homage at the very end of the FIILY?
