  1. Hey everyone,

I just discovered the annoncement with the mail sent by her official newsletter.

I didn't find anything on the last 2 pages, have those questions already been answered :

    - Seing the amount of poems listed for Violet, is it being merged with her second poetry book/spoken word album ?

    - With the release date in september/october, does that mean that the regular album is postponed ? Has she announced anything ?

    Thanks a lot.

  2. you'll only be able to tell a difference with a remaster if you've got expensive/high-end headphones. otherwise it will sound the same

    girl...what?

I mean, why are they using that song now ? It's not like it's a new one.

I thought that maybe people were thinking the quarentine was like a Dark Paradise (Paradise because they have more free time but Dark because they are alone).

Are they just using it randomly ?

  3.

I wonder what's the meaning behind HWY video. Like, the missing eye, belly button eye, girl in the well, etc.

I think the child she saves from the well is her inner child. The eyes on the belly is most definilty linked to the stitches she had during her operation

“When I was on set with Spike, the stitches in my bellybutton were splitting open. I told him: ‘Just so you know, if I start bleeding through this white shirt …’ I basically couldn’t lift my arms up, because all your organs stick together and you can’t stretch your stomach.”

Her illness was central to the album's making process. My guess is that trough that very challenging experience, she went deep into herself, found her inner child and and found vision again (the eye on the belly feels like another third eye. The missing eye is the vision she lost before that).

I couldn't be more exited for the album. Can't wait to see the show again, I saw it at a festival and it was mind blowing.

  4. Another homage from Lana to Radiohead in the Lust For Life era.

    Yosemite is Lana's Lift.

The song, first teased in 1996 (live) by Radiohead never got a proper release before 2017 (same year Lana released LFL , Song reincarnation ?) for the re-release of OK Computer, the album it was intended for.

It was dismissed by the band because it had too much potential of being a bop. It was scrapped last minute. And of course it has been a fan favorite for years before it's release.

"If that song had been on that album, it would've taken us to a different place, and probably we'd have sold a lot more records—if we'd done it right. And everyone was saying this. And I think we subconsciously killed it. If OK Computer had been like a Jagged Little Pill, it would've killed us. But "Lift" had this magic about it. But when we got to the studio and did it, it felt like having a gun to your head. There was so much pressure.[2]"

The circle will be complete when we get Yosemite in 2037 for LFL 20 years rerelease  :teehee:

  5. Yeah FIILY is different on physical copies. She mentioned how the album had to be done 90 days before the release and that she can't change anything after that cause of physical copies. FIILY's the last song she did for this album, they probs changed the beats after the album was already "done".

I see. Too bad they didn't ad Looking for America last minute as well for online edition and future physical copies.

Did you guys notice any differences on other songs ?

  6. On my copy of the album (I pre-ordered it on the official website), the drum programing on Fuck It I love You is different (it's way softer) than the single version, whereas the version on the streaming album is the same as the single version.

Is it the same for everybody ?

Sorry, I didn't bother reading the whole topic to see if it's already been discussed.

  7. The lyrics reading is usual for a cover. After all, even tough it's been filmed, it's a radio performance.

She wouldn't do that at a concert or for a TV performance.

I love the Ariana cover. The drums sound like Amy's 'You Know I'm No Good'.

It definitely sounds like them, and the bass too. And even the rest of the production sounds a lot like a Mark Ronson production from her Back to Black days. I guess she wanted to do a Ariana x Amy kind of mashup.

It also reminds me of some of Lana's unreleased that mixed some modern lyrics with vintage production (children of the bad revolution, playing dangerous,...).

I love the extra instruments in Doin Time that gives it a more human feel. Would have perfectly fitted in NFR with the jack produced songs.

She definitely looks mad during that song performance. Probably because of the sound problems. I don't understand how they couldn't fix the volume of her mic afterwards.

She seems to have more fun during girlfriend.

  8. It's definitely the song on the album that has the sexiest vibe (hence the Cherry comparison). It's also very soft and fragile.

I actually like the fact that there is piano (to make it coherent) but also electronic (to make it different).

  9. That's too bad because as it was performed with just the piano at the Apple event it was one of my all time favourite Lana song.

The emotion conveyed by the piano and Lana's vocals were really intense and really complimented the lyrics which are honestly some of her best.

The album version sounds a bit cheap. The beat is completely bland and the synthetic strings and horns make it sound hallow. Plus Lana's vocals kind of dissapear into the production. I particularly don't like the christmassy shaker, it's kind of kitch.

That's particularly dissapointing because I love jack's folk/rockish production on the rest of the album and the electronic he pulled in Cinnamon Girl and the whole Melodrama Album are fantastic as well.

It seemed that they were both bored during the production of the song (as seen on the Instagram stream, with Lana watching sports)
