OK I can safely say that Violet is what NFR could have been but kinda failed halfway through and hopefully COCC will realise fully.
Also, I get a very maritime vibe off Violet. I really like the cover but I feel like it’s not related?

This bitch keeps posting overnight (I live in Italy) - I know she’s going to stop posting for like a week and then boom, she’s going to give us a preview or a snippet or a pre-order or something like that. I can feel that. But Violet is approaching too. Even though I don’t think it will distract people from the new record. I mean, Violet is going to be a fan thing. But honest to god I do not know what to expect. Like literally no idea. With NFR I kinda expected her shifting towards that sound following the second half of ‘LackOfLife’. But now I’ve already been through phase 1 psychedelic alt rock phase 2 piano guitar folk phase 3 surfy noir chill what is it going to be arghh
-
Nope. Lana is 2x better songwriter than Taylor... Sirens > Folklore. Songs in Folklore are kinda flat...
I agree. Taylor’s lyrics come from a place of recycling and overall superficial musing, it’s teeny and kinda fake profound. She’s in her 30s but her lyrics are basic. Lana has had a lot more life experiences which come through when she writes. And yes I do agree Lana too has cringe lyrics but you can tell that happens when she “does Lana” and I believe it’s intentional.
When Taylor does Taylor is still the same basic stuff, and when Taylor wants to do Deep Taylor it’s basically the same basic stuff but with words like Pennsylvania. Like, that ain’t it.

Lanaboards > FBI.
Good job!!!! Plus all of this makes sense. You are a genius!
How did you do all this wth I want what you’re on sis
-
can we NOT pit two amazing and powerful women against each other?
Not pinning anyone against anyone but when Taylor literally rips lyrics off it’s almost disrespectful I mean “Vintage tee - dancing in your Levi’s - drunk under a street light - the sweatshirt you put me on and said I was your favourite - kiss in cars and downtown bars” This is straight up Lana Del Rey rhetoric it’s not just influence it’s a re-work and I can’t get behind that sorry
-
We shouldn’t be mad about Taylor - anything she does is a re-work of what Lana did and did best - yes, it’s annoying (the last great American dynasty LOOOOL , cardigan - because Sweater was too much on the nose I suppose) But Come on, she has always copied Lana , nothing new there
-
-
But why has no one mentioned these could be poems ? They read a lot more like poem titles to me than songs - what with the upcoming audio book release it could make sense. Maybe she turned white hot forever into a poem?
-
Today marks L4L anniversary. I hate being sketchy on Lana because I love her to bits but let’s just take a moment to remind ourselves it’s unlikely that COCC will be any worse than that.

I always thought it's meant in an endearing way. I mean of course it's an insult but I thought it meant even though he objectively isn't good, she loves all his faults and she can't help but have those feelings for him even though she knows it's not good for her. Subjectively, she prefers him despite his flaws.
I read it as in she’s telling herself to stop waiting for someone she deems perfect to come her way that may never arrive and rather just settle for him which is what most people do when they’re older and more mature it’s honest but also kinda wtf lol
-
I think her best quiet diss lyric is “why wait for the best when I could have you” - that is such a petty thing to say to someone like I would legit get depressed if someone said that to me lolLana can have lyrics that are actually quite angry or are insulting someone (an ex, usually) but she sounds so chill about it...for example, sweetly singing "if you were me, and I was you, I'd get out of my way" or (my fave) "you can be a bad mofo but that don't make you a man." So, I don't think the album will sound angry, like thrash metal or anything ( ) but the lyrics may deal with the issues she's been talking about, like slut-shaming, in a direct way.
Ice queen putting the world on blast, love it.

Nice observation. Count me in for the sue.
Lana Del Rey - Teardrops on my guitar
Literally ROFL teardrops on my guitar lol

-
chemtrails over the country club fuck it now give me your cock my love
Maybe it could be just the record title with no actual songs addressing or using the title.
-
Anyhoo I will set aside my expectations of vibey surfy noirish sounds and go for my gut instinct which is telling me we’re in for a Weyes Blood type of sound and over all record.
