Ok guys how is NFR sitting with y’all? For me, it is a very different listening experience from all the other records, like it doesn’t feel like the kind of record that you would pick a song and blast it like ok I want to blast National Anthem, it’s more like ok I’m going to put the record on and listen to the whole thing, like once I play one song I HAVE to listen to all the other songs (well not HTD). Do you know what I mean?

The Norman Fucking Rockwell Tour - Predictions Thread
Chestnut Fox Sexy Jesus replied to Elle's topic in 2019 NFR Tour
I have a feeling that the stage will remain the same (not enough time to prepare a whole new set since she'll be kicking off the tour real soon) but I am confident she will re-arrange the set list 'cause she seems to be in a different mind frame. This is my idea (again, not necessarily what I would like to hear but what I think it would make sense for it to be on the set list) : 1. West Coast intro 2. Fuck it I love you 3. Shades of cool (this was from her IG live stream) 4. Cherry 5. White Mustang 6. Blue Jeans 7. National Anthem 8. Born to Die 9. Pretty when you cry 10. Ride 11. Doin Time 12. Cinnamon Girl (but not 100% sure about this one) 13. Medley (it would be cool if she did the three video medley Bartender-Happiness-Norman) Encore The Greatest Video games Venice bitch She might do a live version of California because she looked kind of surprised that everyone kept asking about that during the live stream and I also think she might skip the Honeymoon record all together or maybe just keep HBTB or swap it for Freak. Edit : I forgot Summertime Sadness lol -

We're also getting Shades of Cool apparently and she said she wants to do Looking For American in San Francisco -
Alright people, this post is for those of us who were lucky enough to get early entry tickets. So I’ve been trying to get in touch with ticketmaster and accorhotels management to get an idea of how many early entries were sold so that we could have a rough idea of how long in advance we need to show up at the gates if we want to make it to front row. Unfortunately no one was able to tell me. The venue capacity is around 20,000 but because it’s not clear how many of those are seating and how many are standing I guess our only option is to show up very early in the morning. Sorry I couldn’t be of anymore help. x

Honestly I did not know who the guy was so I looked up his review of Ultraviolence. For someone blowing his own trumpet so damn much, not knowing The Other Woman was an old song I had to laugh. I could care less what he thinks. His total lack of acknowledgement of the fact that Lana literally has inspired a whole culture and has dozens of artists literally copying her lyrics, imitating her imagery and basically mimicking her is not only laughable but also proof that what he tries to pass on as objective analysis is really just personal dislike so yeah he can bugger off.

Norman Fucking Rockwell - Pre-Release Thread

I don’t understand what some of y’all were expecting from NFR to be honest. She made it very clear that she wasn’t even planning on writing anything, that the record came out of an unexpected connection with Jack Antonoff and that it was going to be low key with no bangers or big productions. In addition to that, it’s been barely two years since L4L (and she’s been doing festivals since April in Europe and the US) - it’s not that long a time to come up with ideas, write and produce something. Just because she’s a big name doesn’t mean everything she puts out needs to be a freaking masterpiece. Can we just agree that it’s neither a masterpiece nor a piece of crap (well except for HTD, that bitch is still not getting enough hate). Imo it’s a decent record that I am enjoying way more than I did L4L to be honest. -

The ending to Cinnamon is fire! I’d love for Lana to take that direction next, something in the vein of Chromatics meets Apparat. -

It’s so horrific, when those Christmas bells came in I had to laugh, I honestly cannot begin to imagine how someone who’s worked in the industry for that long and with that experience could allow for something so incredibly crappy to be put out on a record like ugh -

I don’t know how to do the spoiler thing, so sorry ******SPOILER THING******* Alright, I’ve just come out of the rabbit hole and I think I need another ride, but I do need to get something off my chest real quick : whatever on earth and hell were they thinking when they did HTD dirty like that? It’s horrific. Like I legit had to stop listening and start anew with California after a few minutes to be able to get back into the tone of the record for how bad it is, the arrangement is meaningless and I never thought I’d say that but Coachella is decent compared to how bad HTD is. It was such a beautiful song, totally ruined. That said, I’ve been surprisingly pleased with HIAB, musically it’s a lot less cheesy than I thought. California is wow, stunning, probably my favourite alongside Bartender and Venice Bitch which I think it’s the highlight of NFR. All in all, I expected it to be more in the vein of MAC and VB but it’s like there’s no recurrent musical theme, which is what makes a record coherent for me. In a way it’s like L4L in that there’s lots of different elements, but better and more inspired. I don’t know if it’s because she has so many good songs that she doesn’t want to leave them on the cut room floor so she just throws them in there or if she needs to take a little more time in between records to create an uniform vision. But I do like it, everything except HTD, and thank you for your help but that’s enough Jack Antonoff. -

Woa did you even read what happened? I politely asked a question and she came at me with “thirsty ass hoe”. Now where I’m from, you can politely answer a polite question by saying “you’re not not allowed to ask this question even if everyone in the thread is talking about it” and that’s ok. I don’t consider “learn how to use google thirsty ass how” a polite answer, so yeah, she should be the one to get warning points -

Ok wait a minute, while I was writing my long ass theory about the cover everyone’s been freaking out about the unspeakable L*EAK? Now, I bought the record and I bought an early entry ticket to her show so I paid my dues, so how do I “politely enquire about this circumstance without pronouncing the L word and without risking a warning and a ban?” a brother’s thirsty please be good to me mod note: user was warned for this post -

Ok hear me out , this is going to be a lengthy dramatically gay theory about the cover, specially after reading her “hope” interview. What if she’s holding her hand out to get us onboard but ALSO asking for help? In her interview she talks about how she considers herself a matriarch amongst her friends but at the same time how some of those friends and even herself had to suffer through certain situations (I think she might be referring to sexual favours and patriarchy in the industry. She is never really clear about that but you can tell that’s where she was going). She swapped the car theme for a boat and a man she is holding on to, who is almost entirely pushing her aside (on the CD pic) but she still needs to cling on to him if she wants to survive, and she’s at sea, which means she is not steady and is subject to currents. In a way she still has hope (MAC and the cd ending with “hope” is self explanatory) but maybe she’s tired of the patriarchy and being manhandled and maybe this is what “the greatest” is about, not specifically that she’s done with singing but maybe she’s set some boundaries with certain power people and now she doesn’t know if these people are still going to support her art; this might also be true of VB, where she sings “I’m fresh outta fucks forever I’m trying to be stronger for you (the fans)”. Or maybe this was just all Chuck’s doing lol What do you guys think?
