Thanks for sharing this! I love it. It sounds like they've listened to the original a lot, and it's yet more evidence that musicians love Lana.
If you're listening to the radio broadcast, it starts at 1:22:00. Apparently the radio show is only up for a couple of weeks, so hopefully someone grabs this.

  4. longtimeman liked a post in a topic by paradisetropico in Blake Lee, Lana Del Rey's guitarist and music director, spoke about his first time meeting Lana in an interview for the release of his debut album
Blake Lee has a LENGTHY interview and in one small part (30 minute mark) he speaks about his time working on Ultraviolence and his first time meeting Lana!

Blake says he first met Lana and he was simply himself, no expectations. Byron helped him get the audition.
He says the First show they played together was secret and under an alias name in NYC.

He says working with Lana is "spontaneous, electric, thrilling" and he remembered looking up Video Games for the first time and his mother overheard and they both fell in love with the sound of the song and the video. and he knew he wanted to be part of her band.

Blake says he is blown away with how fast she writes songs and it is unlike anyone else he has worked with.
He says he has no idea how many songs she has written BUT Ultraviolence was originally a double album (40 songs were written for Ultraviolence that he remembers and said they were all worthy of being on the album. He said a few of the interludes that didn't make the album have been worked into some of the live shows they do)

Blake says he respects her so much and calls her "the real deal" and admires her ethos of "not trying hard or pretending to be something, and just saying NO when you don't want to do something or if something does not feel right knowing to say no, and then eventually the right thing will come along "
says it was Lana's idea to get Chriss Isaak to perform at the Hollywood Bowl,
Spoke about Sean Lennon and how magical it was

his new album is a dreamy, cinematic, avant-garde album and quite mesmerizing.

i feel like many people were too overwhelmed in 2017 to get into this song. i really love this song. i find it unique apparently. never heard a song like this.

i love the production in particular because it sounds so bittersweet. there are trap beats in it but they don't sound cheap to me, i have never heard any trap beats like these in other songs, they feel old-school to me somehow. but there's this music in the background which sounds so sad somehow, like the world is about to end or is near to a catastrophe. or like a score from a movie which ended sadly. the song is meant to be sad but ends hopefully.

i find the lyrics genuine because i don't find this song to be that overly political but more like about legacy. she seems to contemplate if her career is really worth all the pain and terror that the war might cause. was it the america she wanted. would she be remembered better if she would at least contribute for the peace and building the world, would that be all worth more than her career.

i'm not american, so i don't know really how tense the political climate it was there - i assume it was alarming because as an european i still remember reading the news about the situation which happened between north korea and the usa. it really seemed threatening to almost all of us, and all the questions around the possible new world war and nuclear attacks.

just my thoughts, i have always loved that song. i remember listening to the song for the first time when it had like around 400 thousand views on youtube.

Aside from the fact that the Supreme Court is super conservative, I wonder if we’re just in the mode of balance of power switching every 2-4 years. Think of it. Trump won in 2016, but then he lost 2020 and several of the off-year elections

Americans as a whole just never seem to be pleased with politicians. Favorability ratings for most of them are quite low. Our attention spans are short. As soon as someone’s been in office for a few years, we get tired of them.

My point is, maybe the silver lining is that the Dems can win back some power in 2026 and assuming we have an actual primary with a clear winner, maybe we can win back the presidency in 2028?

I’m trying to find something to be positive about. It’s been a rough week.

I’m hearing that supposedly JD Vance is the defacto candidate for 2028, but are we sure about that? I almost think that the only way the republicans run away with the next election is if Don Jr runs  or if some other wacko populist emerges. Vance just seems very uncharismatic. Without Trump, he’d still be a nobody. Who knows.

I'm jealous of you! Really, I'm glad you had a great time. A good friend of mine has managed to see a bunch of these shows this year and it all sounds amazing.
The new DG album is excellent too, and my favourite song is the one that Romany sings!

It wasn’t rigged. People showed up and voted for Trump and didn’t bother even voting down ballot, which is why Dems did better in senate and gubernatorial elections in the same states that Harris lost. That’s a “good” sign for Democrats that Trumpism probably ends with Trump. Trump-like figures like Kari Lake, Dr. Oz, and Mark Robinson continue to fail to get MAGA support. 2028’s Republican primary will be interesting. I have a feeling Nancy Mace could unexpectedly become a big player (and I don’t hate all her policies, as she’s more left-leaning socially than other GOP members).

As far as this current incoming administration, ATP I just pray they don’t crash or tank the stock market (I hate to admit that the record highs of markets have helped me cope with the Harris loss a bit better), and are too busy infighting amongst themselves to pass any weird policies for women and LGBTQ+.

I went to see the Dark Side Of The Moon visual experience at the Planetarium (for the 50th anniversary). It was so good! So many awesome space references. Key moments I really liked:
Time: the visuals were a planetary calendar/clock. It worked perfectly for the ticking and alarm sound effects. I liked how it also focused a lot on Saturn as im pretty sure Saturn is the ruler of time? Heard that somewhere.
Great Gig In The Sky: a zoom-out from Earth and the ISS out of the solar system, the milky way galaxy and to our cluster of galaxies, then zoomed back in to our little planet and the ISS circling it. It was perfection. Exactly what I imagine when I listen to the song. I am also very obsessed with visualising the scale of the universe in general.
Us & Them: it zoomed into Jupiter and Europa, deep into Europa and showed little microbes living about (reference to the life on Europa theory).
One of the last songs, I think Brain Damage?: Showing a technical animation of the first landing on the moon.
Such as awesome experience with the perfect amount of trippy visuals, real space references, and throwbacks to the 70s time period.
Yes! I talk about this all the time and really hope someone in a livestream asks her to lol. She is the only modern artist i can think of who would do it justice.

Saw David in concert on Wednesday. It was a hell of an experience. One of the best concerts I’ve ever experienced. He had struggled early on during this tour with vocals, but his recent gigs have been nothing short of amazing. It’s beautiful that his daughter, Romany, sings with him as well.

This week has been a shitshow for so many reasons, and the Queen just comes to redeem everything. Sometimes I feel like Lana is working through all of my musical obsessions, and I can't even speak for excitement. (And I don't even care about any negative comments - LDR X is going to slaaaaaaaaaaay).
