Anna Biller aside, I always have thoughts on really obscure films that most people don't know about, so I thought i'd made this thread inclusive to everything Independent Movie related
Here's The Love Witch by Anna Biller for anyone who hasn't heard of it x - a common fave among Lipsters
Post anything related to Indie movies here. Which, for this threads sake, is any movie that isn't commercial or relevant enough for it's own thread

I think the song is actually a really good debut, however her being a disney act and the fact that as an outsider to tik tok I have still never heard of her. Her indie girl cursive voice is a bit annoying to me but I can see how it might be another tool to "break" the commercial/disney mold. I do get like Halsey without the artistic vision (As cringy as she can be, she debuted with a pretty solid concept album) from the song. I'm interested to see where this will take her.
Industry plant for sure. Theres not way she could have gone from being essentially unknown to literally every tiktok featuring her song organically. It doesn't take away from her talent, but its extremely obvious

You don't need to take it from me cause im not gonna pretend i'm some kind of authority on the subject but it is feeling very performative to me. Being an ally means supporting and listening to the marginalized group in your everyday life. She did not give a single shit about all the women of colour who were really hurt at her QFTC. i really do hate having to be a negative bitch on LB every time Lana does something related to the subject of politics or racial conversations but this is just how i'd see it if anyone else was acting like this

I just rewatched Kill Your Darlings. A must-watch for anyone interested in Allen Ginsberg or the beat poets at all

Youtube comment stans are insane. I was looking through the comments on the interview after it was uploaded and everyone is convinced she's some kind of God speaking gospel. Someone even said that Annie Mac didn't understand it because shes one of the narcissists lana was talking about... what

She definetely has some really good ones and some of my favourite songs are unreleased. but i'm talking about the bulk of them that are like betty boop boop, moi je jou, etc. And even the ones that aren't completely un-listenable, like making out, still aren't really good songs. But it all shows growth and persistence in her artistry

Most of her unreleased songs are dog shit awful but i still enjoy listening them cause it gives me the comforting feeling that theres a process to becoming an artist

Also by the same director (and starring her!) is Viva. Theres cult-ish sex parties, lesbianism, slightly absurdist feminist critique, and fun 50's aesthetics. If thats your thing you can rent it for like $5 on vimeo
