Finding it hard to listen to anything else right now 🖤 Idk how I’d see Ocean Blvd if I wasn’t navigating the recent loss of my grandma, deep-rooted issues with my mother, and how the two are entwined, along with a couple other sensitive topics explored on the record. But I think it would still connect, perhaps differently but certainly as deep, because this album is pulling up so many other emotions and memories, all while giving heavy/very real insight to Lana’s life and mind. It’s just incredible, no words. Kintsugi and Fingertips alone cleared the high expectations set by the title track, A&W, and The Grants. Sweet (unexpected fav!), Candy Necklace, Paris, LTLI, Peppers, and TT x VB are also very strong/compelling album tracks. Even the two songs I didn’t care for have grown on me a bit. Especially the “when you’re old your old” verse in Margaret. It’s hard to rank these songs, and the record itself, among her work, but I know they will stand the test of time

Everything is aligning

YouTube rip or new recording/rework, people would have complained either way. I’m feeling optimistic about a new version, especially with Rick and Dean involved. Hope BOZ will give some hints about when this releases/if it’s attached to a project or is a standalone single

All three of the alt CDs arrived cracked/crushed, they sent out replacements + one cassette for the OOS CD. Hope this batch doesn’t arrive crushed The hoodie box set arrived today, I can pick it up after my shift tonight. Now just have to wait until the end of May for the necklace/lighter

My picture disc arrived yesterday, wow wow wow is it beautiful. I can't wait to display it next to the vinyl and listening party posters. Alt CDs should come tomorrow but I can pick them up today, the Amazon will be here Saturday, and the hoodie box set will arrive Monday Love how the annoyance about the multiple drops and shipping charges melts away as soon as the merch starts to arrive hehe.

Thoughts after the first day: Would die for: Ocean Blvd, Sweet, A&W, Candy Necklace, Kintsugi, Fingertips, Paris, Texas, Let the Light In Love love love: The Grants, Jon Batiste Interlude, Grandfather, Fishtail, Taco Truck x VB Enjoyed, but not as much: Peppers Not for me: Judah Smith Interlude, Margaret re: JS Interlude: I really enjoy the instrumental, and the slightly unnerving vibe of it all. I understand how and why she included this on the record; just listen to what he’s saying and what comes before and after that track!! But I enjoy the record more when I skip it to be honest. I *love* this record. There are some areas she’s explored that call so specifically to my life that I’m having a hard time fully listening to some of the songs. I just love her so much as an artist and person for being brave and telling these stories. And for making me feel seen as an emotionally-driven, complicated woman when I wasn’t always comfortable being that. Thank you, Lanita!!! No one does it like you 🖤

Ahhh I’m so elated rn, after work I bussed around town to pick up the Target vinyl + CD, and snagged second-to-last copy of the indie green at the new record shop in town. And when I got home, her Rolling Stone UK was waiting on the doorstep :’) Like, I can’t believe I’m holding this beautiful record in my hands rn!
