there's a girl who sings hotel california not because she loves the notes or sounds that sound like florida it's because she's in a world preserved only a few have found the door it's like camarillo only silver mirrors running down the corridor okay but... the imagery in these lines is CRAZY... mentioning hotel california by the eagles (recorded in florida) and camarillo state hospital – hotel california is rumored to be written about camarillo – and "silver mirrors" which reminds me of sylvia plath's poem mirror which begins with the line "i am silver and exact" and is about being faced with objective truth and this truth not reflecting who you think you are... she is a genius i can't wait for the rest of the album, ocean blvd is just more and more interesting lyrically the more you dig into it, the use of metaphor and cultural references is incredible and i'm so so excited to hear everything

just another hint that this will be her most lizzy-esque album since AKA/pieces of BTD... the disco references + the trailer park + the random callbacks + the del taco ruby tuesday 7/11 diet mtn dew energy, plus the oceanic imagery, it's so mermaid motel kill kill the ocean trailer park coney island baby of her!!

i think i understand what you’re trying to say .. (i mean this in a neutral way, but i often have a hard time understanding what you’re saying! it takes me a few reads to get it ) but if i do understand, then i think that yes, those themes are certainly there in ocean blvd, there’s lots of subtle and not so subtle innuendo .. the vagina kayak lacks the same subtlety to me but certainly is a somewhat hidden expression of sex/sexual innuendo which does tie into the tunnel metaphor, references to body and soul, etc etc. i’m not quite sure how it ties into taco truck but are you suggesting that taco = vagina? so it’s like a … vagina truck? like the vagina kayak?

and candy necklace .. there’s already a disagreement (my umbrella vs my own brother) from a 5 second snippet! and nobody can tell what she’s saying in the snippet that does not exist she’s always been the queen of making us guess

i feel stupid now for thinking it’s marred but that line is more profound and meaningful to me that way so i’m just going to stick with it 😭

i don’t particularly love alex and ashley on stage but i think they make her feel more comfortable? so i get it if she does bring them (one of them i think recently had a baby though so maybe they won’t be going) but ocean blvd and these shows feel like such a new thing after more low key albums and no shows, so i hope she switches it up a little bit!!!! everything feels a little more exciting and a little more fun and i hope she’s excited to do these shows too and to perform ocean blvd songs
