'Norman Fucking Rockwell' Holophonic Listening Party Held In Buenos Aires
electra replied to PARADIXO's topic in Latest News
In my imagination, I would imagine a small cinema-like complex with rooms big enough to fit one or two people comfortably (like a cinema, but with no screen, maybe some cinema-esque lighting that would turn off once the headset starts) and a couple of holophonic speakers (i myself tend to prefer surround sound in open spaces rather than earphones, I find it more immersive). then, the headsets would go on and the "film" would begin once the participants are ready. i imagine an environment that would subtly change as the music begins. example for nfr, imagine a virtual beach where the environment changes. the environment would maybe begin with a morning beach scene for the song nfr, feel very floaty, sunny and disney-esque (maybe birds or something in the sly?) and then go into mariners apartment complex where the environment slowly kind of evolves into something a little more tactile and natural. then imagine venice bitch, where the song starts slow and sunny but develops into crashing waves and chaos as the cresendo of the song happens (when the song is at it's most chaotic, when the cymbals begin to smash and the electric guitar peaks)... then this continues for the rest of the album. imagine a sunset full of boats and shadows during the greatest or bio-luminescent algae during hope after the sun is long gone. i feel as though if this concept and this sound quality is truly as good as it makes out on google, there is so much more potential for this. albums could become visual concepts to be enjoyed in cinemas like as if they were films. there is so much potential for listening to music in virtual reality. also, imagine doing it high as fuck. goodbye planet earth. -

As a game developer this concept is really interesting to me, I would love to be able to create a virtual reality environment- based film that is perhaps played in time with the music for a real experience. I think that would be really interesting. I think this has a lot of potential - like a virtual cinema experience for listening to music. -

As a super fan i can contribute, but what’s the actual topic of the thesis?
-
man maybe that’s why it cohesively comes off as a trainwreck. if it was supposedly a lot longer i guess she had to just skim some of the major political aspects she tries to show in the film and it feels forced that way. a bit of a shame in that case.
-
i'm approximately 100% sure the film wasn't intended to be bad just for the sake of being a companion concept for an album. she did not blow a million dollars on this just for the sake of it being throw away. she put a lot of effort into this and it's bad. the album itself isn't even that great either. she clearly wrote the songs around the idea of a musical and it wasn't successful.

this film was lowkey really awful. there were so many lose ends and things that came out of nowhere. and her political route she took was also really awful. she should have focused on one political angle and done it well rather than like fifteen really badly executed ones. omg a transgender teacher? they're being let go because they're trans? omg. wait. we never even see that character again and it's legit never brought up or tied off. okay melanie. i can't believe she did that like fifteen million times during the film too. there were so many lose ends for sub-plots in the film and things that really should have been rounded up. (side note: i was high when we watched this film so if this was actually tied up and we just didn't notice then soz) she's damn well lucky this album has a few really good bangers. regardless i can see her fans eating this shit up despite the fact it was extremely mediocre. at least they have a couple of good songs and a whole lot of content for gifs and twitter layouts. also the teachers pet scene...she is definitely going to "get away" with that. i've never been on the whole melanie x paedophilia bandwagon people try and drag her down with but that scene was so badly inexcusable and tasteless. the film looks stunning, has some amazing song moments but damn, it truly fails in most other aspects. and it's a shame because we would joke before watching it that it was going to be a bad film but we didn't ACTUALLY expect it to be as bad as it was. also, WHERE did she get the budget for this? i'll give her that she at least pulls through when she says she going to do something ambitious, but she's definitely not a good film writer at all.

This is my presumption, but this may be wrong - from what it appears, none of this stuff has been manufactured. nothing has sold out yet, which is odd for lana. i think they're going to run the pop up for a limited period of time, an amount of time we don't know yet, close it and then total everything up and manufacture only what is needed. the time on the site says allow 10-15 business days for shipping (about two to three weeks), also suggesting these haven't been manufactured yet (also consider the pop up sold out of A LOT of the merch, and now suddenly it's all "in stock"). it will definitely ship within three weeks, but shipping on top of that will take longer, so don't expect any of this stuff before a month.

Electra's Lana Del Rey Collection Masterpost Version #432829 Soon to become the biggest heap of shit any LDR fans own. Officially at 190 pieces of individual official merch. So I bought a bunch of stuff recently. I'll probs make an updated photo of everything soon once all my new merch arrives, but this is my current masterpost. I'm gonna break everything down into sections and eras for more clarity. I also only list official pieces of merchandise I've owned (tour, online, etc.) so there are other things, but they don't matter as much. Any new editions since my last post are in bold, as per usual. CD's Promo CD’s Vinyl's Box Sets Cassettes Clothing Magazines Books Lighters Postcards Posters Cups Towels Misc. ISO (Things I'm Looking For! Sell these things to me! SELL THEM!!!)

his score was good but his end opinions ruined it. doin time off the record? sure cinnamon girl? absolutely not venice bitch instrumental? is it crack? but i respect him a lot for going into it so level headed. i’m glad ldr is finally receiving the respect she’s deserved her entire career

NON US FANS https://www.stackry.com/register?referral=7185239 Sign up to stackry with my code and you get $10 off shipping. You sign up and they give you a US postcode and locker to ship stuff. In my experience, a heavy magazine and a lighter i bought once was about $18 - so take $10 off that and it’s not even that expensive. You also don’t have to pay until it arrives in your locker and then you pay the shipping once they get it (they notify you by email). reshippers are the easiest way to do it for someone with no way of getting it

this next update...the taste of it....i cannot believe myself.

Norman Fucking Rockwell - Post-Release Discussion Thread + Poll

i think lana likes a more rugged or untouched take - kind of prevelent in lfl. it just seems to be the way she produces work now. i think too many people are obsessed with btd being flawless they can’t seem to stand her career taking new or more experimental directions. that’s kind of the tea, albeit more sweeping. -

tnbar kind of has a weird place in purgatory now but i don’t find the levelling that off? i feel like cinnamon feels a little off but i’m 100% certain it’s just that the other verses feel off beause they’re new? that might be a dumb way of putting it though. when i scrub to random points it feels relatively consistent other than some of the chorus vocals but i presume the lightness was suppose to sound intentional because of the contrast in sound from the instrumental (ballad verse, floaty and lighter chorus). i also can’t really hear the clipping that much and anything i can hear sounds a intentional from what i would presume (from the most part?) -

what details? i feel like it’s only ever LB that seem to complain about dumb stuff like this. sometimes things that don’t sound conventional are done for effect (IE. heroin - white noise). jack’s allowed to have artistic licsence as a producer. i think this album is a lot more liberal in terms of production and style compared to LDR’s previous work. -

there’s nothing wrong with the mixing, half of you guys can’t even mix or produce music lmao. it’s never going to be perfect but i mean it’s auite consistently fine across the board. -
