Great post. "Tulsa Jesus Freak" is on Chemtrails, "High by the Beach" and "Freak" are on Honeymoon, "hope is a dangerous thing" is on Norman Fucking Rockwell, "Dealer" is on Blue Banisters. Lana always puts on tracks that break the mold on each record. While I don't agree that Ocean Blvd is a "sexy" album overall thus far, it is incredibly intimate and there are certainly sexy songs.

an album would be incredibly boring if every song was like.. very similar. i like sonic cohesiveness in albums but for every song to sound ‘sexy’.. people would shit on lana and say she’s ‘selling out’

i haven’t heard any of the leaks yet only a couple of snippets of TT and FT, and from what i’ve read and heard myself based on title track that is a massive sonic shift, from orchestral based sounds to more sultry bops

yet in a way they’re still cohesive to each other? the bops from this album i bet will fit in a way that they couldn’t on another album, same way ottr wouldn’t fit on bb and bbs wouldn’t fit on uv or btd, people need to understand MUSIC !! im glad you have sense

so Kintsugi is like another closer reference of Lana to Asian culture

I remember the closest she ever gets to Asian culture was This is what makes us girls (the violin outro) & Sad girl intro sounds like Hong Kong vibes.

:awk: this is certainly .. a take?

The poster made a point that it's her sexy album,. So, I asked "why is Fingertips on it then?" What aren't you getting?

you do realize that most albums.. have.. variety? and diversity.. and versatility.. and even if it’s a ‘sexy album’ they may have a couple of ballads so every song isn’t exactly the same.. i think you’re the one not getting since 90% of your posts are you shitting on lana’s new shit

not every song on an album is 100% cohesive and in fact on most albums there’s at least 1-2 songs that break the mold, there’ll be a ballad with guitar or piano most of the time or at least a stripped back song.. and this is LANA.. she never makes an album with a 100% cohesive sound. the most that did is honeymoon and even then there’s songs like TLY and more piano focused tracks, compared with the trap beats and moody strings..

I think it's crazy to see certain parallels between Sweet, A&W, TJF  & also Sportcruiser

TW cause this is long as hell even though i tried to keep it as brief as possible:rollin:

    Sportcruiser:

I took a flying lesson on my 33rd birthday, instead of calling you
Or parking on the block where our old place used to be

    Genesee, genesee, genesee

Pathetic, I know - but sometimes I still like to park on that street
And have lunch in the car just to feel close to you

I was once in love with my life here
In that studio apartment with you

A&W: "Looking like a side-piece at 33" + the whole tiktok rundown we got- Sean was basically cheating on her unbeknownst to her at the time.

      Hide contents

although tbf 34 was her age at the time of their break up, so that always confuses me.. like her 35th birthday would make more sense but maybe it's just the age she associates her relationship w Sean with? or it was an artistic choice, it just sounded better

there is of course also the possibility that line is about another man completely but that's equally interesting considering the Genesee mentions in Sweet.

TJF: "You should come back to our place baby" // "On the 2nd floor darling, in the second flat hurry up"

Sweet"That's where you'll find me- in the sweet north country. If I'm not there come to my house on Genesee"

    & then Sportcruiser continues with:

Little yellow flowers on the tops of trees as our only view
    Out of the only window
Big enough for me to see our future through
But it turned out I was the only one who could see it

    & in Sweet we have:

"Lately we've been making out a lot, not talking about the stuff that's at the very heart of things.

Do you want children, do you want to marry me?

Do you wanna run marathons on long beach by the sea?

I've got things to do like nothing at all, I wanna do them with you- do you wanna do them with me?"

I said a while back that I thought side A, or at least the Ocean Blvd-Sweet-A&W track run

      Reveal hidden contents

(though there are def some compelling arguments that could be made to include The Grants in it as well especially w a line such as

"you're a family man but do you think of Heaven? which seemingly also nods back to TJF)

would follow a somewhat cohesive storyline on Sean & Lana's relationship, with the interlude coming to wrap/break it up & take us into the next part of the album.

It seems like those lines from Sweet I've posted above give some insight on how Lana was feeling at the very peak of their love, when she thought they could be endgame & was dreaming about their life, their future together even tho it was never as serious to him, paralleling those Sportcruiser lines.

cleverly sandwiched between Ocean Blvd(a song about wanting to open up n be vulnerable like at the beginning of a relationship) & AW(the downfall, her heartbreak)

+ going into Sweet one of the earliest lines is

"It's set in the midwest, wish I could tell you now- I wrote you a note but I didn't send it" which imo nods to Sean again for obvious reasons & their breakup

going out of it we have

"You can find me where no one will be, in the woods somewhere

with a knife in the heart, in the valley in the sweet north country

if I'm not there come to my house on Genessee"

Knife in the heart alluding to the betrayal & heartbreak obviously but also making me think of Text Book's "other men I met felt right, would smile at you and stick a knife"

    add this to lanalysis

  4. i think, you can’t grasp the whole album based on a few songs especially since it’s proven to be so sonically and lyrically diverse

    Spoiler

    jimmy jimmy coco puff

    jimmy jimmy ride

    and

the masterpiece of fingertips in the same album

but you can certainly have an opinion on what you hear..

i think you definitely need more time to digest rather than the ‘newly released’ hype and in contrast the ‘grower not a shower’ songs

but if you can tell you’re gonna love the album! cool! good for you! happy you love something lana put out.

if you don’t think you’ll like it, you can’t realllly make a judgment based on maybe 5 songs you can actually decipher, and lq leaks of a few seconds of maybe 5-6 minute songs

when you hear the whole thing you can have a better gauge.

it’s a discussion forum at the end of the day and people are meant to have controversial opinions or shit would be so boring if we all agreed but i don’t think some people should connnnstantly be shitting on it, if you don’t like it, lana has other songs or albums out that you may prefer and that’s okay!

a lot of my favorite artists have released songs and albums and changed their sound and i don’t like it anymore, that’s okay.

i have to appreciate the music they gave years ago and find other artists with a similar sound.

if this album isn’t for you, maybe the next one will be.

if not, maybe just move on

but enough negativity and fighting!! i know everyone’s tense and irritated because of the cockteasing of the ‘leakers who aren’t even leakers’ but it’s okay to have differing opinions :sluttybunny:

  5. i love the prerelease, nothing quite equates to the hype/fear/constant chaos of leaks, trolls, sc*t, excitement, STARVATION etc.. but mannn is it bad for my heart! like constantly on lb 24/7, the excitement when shit goes down and living in anticipation until the 24th because every day something new happens. living in a constant state of adrenaline !!! im gonna be so bored when it’s like april and i’ve already digested (im not ungrateful but surely you know what i mean) and it’ll be like, oh, it’s over

but thanks for making my first pre release hectic!!! i’ve been lurking since chemtrails tt got dropped, made my acc after bb but this is the first time i’ve been active and BOY is it a ride

im just glad i wasn’t here for the nfr pre release because i was literally touching grass for ages and i completely forgot about it and got fed up of waiting

but yeah thanks for the iconic memories that will always be a part of the lore, love you guys

  6. since she sampled NFR on A&W and no insider commented on it, i’m assuming taco truck x vb - number one it HAS VB in the title so it must have a bigger sample and impact than the strings in nfr on a&w, and number two literally no insider mentioned anything about a sample on a&w but did with taco truck, so i’m assuming that it has a heavier sample

    also

    Spoiler

from what i’ve seen in spoilers, either from lyric leaks or snippets - there’s a few call backs to past records, nfr sample on a&w, vb sample on tt, the serene queen callback, the btd baby voice on jimmy, the wait for life melody on sweet etc

shes revisiting past eras and i love it

  7. i’m soo soo excited for candy necklace, fishtail, peppers and taco truck x vb.. i do like the other songs but from production credits

    Spoiler

    and snippets

i think they’re the most built up and the songs i’m most excited for, i love tunnel title track but i am a sucker for the more built up songs, the orchestral are beautiful and i do definitely love them like thunder eg but i do love the lil drums and sultry beats which i think lana can also do soo soo well.

still haven’t listened to full tracks, just a couple snippets but from what i read of other peoples opinions it’s very versatile and there’s something for everyone

but i always love her zach tracks, i’m a sucker for it - and songs that have more of a beat and less lyricism but i can appreciate some stripped songs with some fuckinnnn great lyrics

can’t wait to hear the combination of the two :squidward::cryney2::cumming2:

  8. fine so i don’t get fucking wp again ..

    Spoiler

taco truck & fishtail have that sexy like THE sultry bop sound of the album.. i hear a lil cinnamon and tulsa in it. i’m so so hyped about the second part of the album but i’m also scared to sleep tonight and miss everything :rip:

i stayed up til 4am last night and i don’t wanna again tonight but it looks like shits bout to hit the fan (or walls)
