Lol, this is why I stopped going to big concerts. I really like the ruffle pants, and it does kind of look like she's wearing a different wig tonight. I will be so glad if we at least get a tease of Nymphology/WOMB too, but if she does that at all she'd probably save it for the last show

I wonder if she's going to wear the prosthetics in Chile, because it really did look like she was struggling here and there last night. She was clearly having some earpiece trouble too though, so it might've been more of equipment failure than costume trouble. If she does wear it for all of the upcoming shows though, it'd be nice to at least see her face when Summer rolls around, and a full body suit+mask combo will be super difficult to keep up with.

It looks like this time around she's trying to maintain more personal relatability within the heavy thematics. Which is great because Cry Baby succeeded massively with that, where K-12 kind of failed by being way too specific to a school/adolescence theme. I think her music works best when she's somewhere in the middle.

I hope not. I'd like to get something closer to Sirens, and I'm not seeing any correlation between the term Nymphology and the lyrics to this Emerald 2.0 "rap" either, so it'd be kind of a hamfisted title. But I guess knowing her that's not off the table. I do wonder how this tracklist is going to flow though. There are already a couple of spots that don't look like they'll fit together as well as they could, but even if this album isn't as cohesive as her past records, the music is still really promising.

It's cute that EVIL and VOID have basically the exact same baseline in a different pitch, but sound so different. The album versions are going to be great.

No point in paying to see an artist live if it's just some dress-up inception of an actor cosplaying a singer in another full body costume, with pre-rec tracks. She has a very specific way of moving and dancing too, so I'm not sure anyone would believe it was her anyway. Speaking of the costume though, it looked like she was struggling at Lollapalooza and left as soon as she got the chance. She might've underestimated how claustrophobic and hot heavy costumes get while you're moving around under the lights, running out of breath, and in her case probably having stage nerves. I'd hate to see her pass out on tour just for the aesthetic. And if she's doing it to take the focus off of her personal image, I get that too, but it's not worth her health. She's going to have a lot of things to figure out as she goes along as far as making this costume work. I'm also a little afraid one of the ears is going to start flapping around or fall off on stage or something, but that's beside the point..

Wait.. so they're giving out CDs before the release.. knowing it's going to leak.. when the whole issue with this album(and her whole career) has been her music being leaked before she can officially release it, lol.. okay. I don't quite get it but it probably won't make a difference sales or streams either way if the album leaks a week early. Happened with K-12 and most people that knew about it chose to wait anyway, and still probably streamed and watched the movie if they didn't buy anything.

Lord.. Anyway, VOID was just as good as I hoped if not better and I'm really glad to hear it early. BOTL and EVIL were pretty good too, just some of the lyrics are a leaning a little corny or wordy for me. Other than that the Portals songs were definitely the best performances of the night. Hoping she wasn't literally dying under those prosthetics, though!

Y'all can stop denying that the heavy vocoder and autotune is there to hide how terrible her voice sounds lately

She deserves privacy just as much as anyone else of course, but I swear to god someone could wave at her in the grocery store and her fans would tear them apart for "harassing her in public"

Yeah, I'm confused at how she seems to look different in every photo lately, weight wise. It was just a few months ago that she looked like this and people were saying she was "fat". https://twitter.com/hashtag/MelanieMartinez?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc^tfw She did confirm that she's doing heavier choreography for this album though, and has been working on it for a while now, so that could definitely explain some of the weight loss. What I do want to know though, even though it's none of my business: are those her real boobs in the alien makeup or are they prosthetics? Because hers have never been that big while the rest of her stayed relatively small.

The original is just so good that the expectations are thrown off really far for me. It's not just the difference in sound though, it's the lyrics. The quality of the leaked lyrics vs this new one are just undeniable. I mean, just look at the choruses: "Death has come, It knocks on my door like a stalker. Don't answer, answer My ego won, I'd put the pieces back but I burned all my chances. Took our time for granted, The knife keeps twisting There's so much I'm regretting, Next time I'll listen" Vs. "I'M BACK FROM THE DEAD, BACK FROM THE DEAD, I'M BACK FROM THE DEAD, BACK FROM THE DEAD, BACK FROM THE DEAD BACK FROM THE DEAD (repeat with farty bass x10)" I mean, look at that. The worst part is though, the new version has an amazing first verse, and the sound up until that point is really good. If it were a little more polished all the way through, or she stripped it back to be more like the original, it'd have been perfect.

Of course I have no clue how many pieces they made for her and how much their controversy set her release back(if at all), but it's crazy how much accidental mess she gets pulled into sometimes, lol. I feel bad for that. I remember when she was getting freaked out on for collabing with Tierra Whack years ago too, that was.. something.

The eyes look sleepy here in a cute way. I'm really looking forward to seeing all of the custom pieces that were designed for this era, I'm pretty sure that's one of them on her head. All of the jewelry is custom too, apparently, so that'll be fun to see more of.

Now that I've sat down and listened to DEATH over headphones, I'm not exactly loving it. And I guess there's not going to be a video attached to the single tonight? If so, please tell me she's not going to pull a K-12 on us and refuse to put out music videos outside of the movie again..

God damn y'all, I can't even keep up with the thread right now. Anyway, I'm in the middle now after hearing DEATH. It's not my favorite, the lyrics get repetitive and I feel like she could've done better with the beat but it's decent. I'm sure the video will be great though and bring it full circle. That being said, I'm softly disappointed in that tracklist. There were so many perfect ideas in the leaked sessions that I'm wondering if she was forced to get rid of it all, because some of what was put in their place just doesn't make sense. I'll be especially disappointed in the final album if there's no ambient sounds(birds, water, etc), which is what it seems like judging by this single. I want to hear PORTALS 1.0, Hawaii Version so badly but I guess this is fine, too. Patiently waiting for the visuals to come and blow my wig off.
