Literally all I want is one album that won't make me feel judged for saying "yeah I like listening to Melanie Martinez". Please let this fucking be it

I really love the idea of the creature but I'm no longer afraid to admit that these prosthetics look goofy outside of the stills. We've seen enough to judge it by now. I know she's in her experimental phase, but I really don't want to have another one of these "look at what we could've had if she wouldn't have scrapped everything good" eras. The weirdness stops being cute after a certain point and becomes just plain weird.

Unfortunately she's stuck on concept albums, so we're stuck with them too. I don't mind thematic lyrics, but corny lyrics that make no sense outside of some hamfisted theme aren't it for me

The Void snippet that she posted to her IG is the strongest so far, IMO. Track 6 snippet is cute but sounds dated, kind of 2015 dubstep-ish. Hopefully it's just that one bit of the song.

I think she's saying "no one can leave once they emerge", probably talking about the portals or rebirth in general. And yeah, I wish she would ditch the xylophone/toybox sounds for this one but still it's a nice snippet.

I feel like this era will have more success than her past 2 either way, but I agree she could probably grab a little more attention with a different promo cycle. If she would've released a few teaser pics/animations, released the full single for streaming, then the video a couple weeks later, followed by Lollapalooza + album release by the end of the month, it would've been amazing and super unexpected.

It's just a couple of people sharing concern over the quality of the prosthetics, lol.

I just think stan accounts are weird honestly, especially ones that are known for spreading rumors, misinfo, and leaked photos/photos taken without the permission of the celebrity. To be fair, I may be confusing them with "Crybabyboi", but I'm pretty sure I've seen them all being weird as fuck

Whoever is handling her Instagram is posting stories of the package that got sent to that Twitter stan account. Am I the only one who thinks it's fucking weird to promote the album through chronically online stan accounts instead of like, anywhere else?

It's probably not going to be attached to the official visuals, but we'll see.. I won't be too thrilled though if we finally get a new music video and it still just looks like Melanie under super obvious Halloween prosthetics, lol. I'd rather have her as herself with no theme than her trying to sell us a new character that just doesn't look believable

This is absolutely the best snippet so far, and makes me way more excited about the new version of Void. The cut off version that got sent to that Stan account did not sound this good, even in the HQ. I've been craving a less pop-y sound from her for a while, and while some leaks that hit that spot for me, I'm really looking forward to this getting an official release and(hopefully) a good video.

I'm still so fucking mad that she scrapped the Test Me music video to save up for another unnecessary movie, after hyping it up to us as the best video she's ever written and getting us all excited, lol.. She may have reused the plans for Portals, but if she really decides to scrap it for good I hope she at least shows us what we were supposed to get.

Maybe, but I can almost guarantee that I smoke more than her, for at least as long, and my voice isn't damaged like that. Plenty of popular singers(Beyoncé for one) are also regular heavy smokers, and maintain strong vocals. I think the biggest issue is the way she pushes herself for certain songs. I've seen professional coaches criticizing a lot of techniques she uses as being really harsh on the vocal chords, which may explain how stressed she sounds in a lot of recent leaks and concerts.

Yeah I really wish she would stop stressing and stretching her voice so much. It's especially bad in the unautotuned leaked demos, but the snippets we've gotten for Portals are decent so far so I'm hoping it won't sound edited to death

Looks like everyone's hopping on that magic mushroom and fairy gardens theme lately, lol. The tree there reminds me a lot of the mushroom scenery in the Portals teasers, too. Wonder what she's coming out with later today.

I don't see why Portals needs to be a movie... Well produced music videos are plenty for me and don't rely on forced conflict or storylines to make it interesting. I don't fully believe that she can make a whole movie out of this concept and have it make any more sense than K-12.. especially as a sequel to K-12? Like what is the plot supposed to be that drives an entire 2 hours of film? I just want to see her dance around a magic forest and sing, I don't need a whole lore behind every album.

I'm a little worried about the mask. It's really cute, but we're supposed to believe that this is a reincarnated alien version of Cry Baby, not just Melanie in a costume. I hope they've saved budget to make it blink, smooth the seams in the prosthetics, etc. Then it will be perfect. It just looks slightly too Halloween mask-y right now.

Gingerbread Man is probably the best produced song that she made post-CB. The beat is super clean, the lyrics were cute but not silly, and the production has so much depth it's insane, especially on good headphones. I wish she would've gone more for that sound after CB than the stripped back K-12 sound.

Someone said a long time ago that "it's super accurate I guess because little kids talk like that when they're trying to act grown" and I can't stop thinking about that, lmao
