I heard MILK OF THE SIREN when it leaked under the title Sirens.

I hate that voice effect on POWDER. I'd say my favorite song is PLUTO bc I've already heard MILK OF THE SIREN (it's such a great song).

Since I've listened to the album a few times I must say that overall I LOVE the production on all of the songs and I LOVE most of the lyrics (I don't like MOON CYCLE lyrically but production-wise I think it's amazing). I've heard TUNNEL VISION, FAERIE SOIRÉE, MOON CYCLE, and LEECHES when they first got leaked on YouTube and I've liked them since then as most of the lyrics are the same. There were lyrics added to the end of FAERIE SOIRÉE that I don't particularly like however I think the end of FAERIE SOIRÉE will grow on me eventually. I LOVE that transition from TUNNEL VISION to FAERIE SOIRÉE and I LOVE the intro to TUNNEL VISION. At first I thought I'd be disappointed in this album but now I LOVE it. I might not like everything about it but I love the album bc it shows how much Melanie has grown. I can't pick a favorite song still but if that happens I'll post about it on this thread. I'm sad that PORTALS marks the end of Crybaby's story but I'm looking forward to MM4 (I don't see it being released until 2027 so it'll be a while). Anyways Melanie said on TikTok that she doesn't have the budget for the movie yet so that's why it hasn't been filmed. I'm hoping she'll get the budget for it soon so she can start filming later this year bc that's the only way we'll get the movie next year. Because if not it'll probably take longer for the movie to be released. Also do y'all have any theories about the movie? I'm just curious. I can't believe I forgot to talk about WOMB. That song would be perfect for the end credits of the movie. It's my favorite closing track by Melanie so far bc it feels like a closing track. Mad Hatter didn't really feel like a closing track. Recess felt more like a closing track but I haven't listened to it in a while.

Just finished listening to the album. I can't pick a favorite track yet because I need to listen to it multiple times. Also is it just me or does it feel like there such be more songs? Cause that's my thoughts on it from the first listen.

If y'all don't know, Nicole posted on Twitter and Instagram today and the photo is making me think that she's teasing the MIMA video. If so, we'll probably be getting the MIMA video soon. I wonder why she didn't give to us when the album was released. Like why did she tease us with a snippet of the video two months ago without releasing it then?

That's the concept I was hoping for based on the leaks. And somehow I could visualize what that storyline would be like. Maybe I should write my own story that's set in a medieval fantasy world and inspired by some of the songs based off what I see in my head. Idk that's just a thought.

Y'all I just thought about this. So, remember in that one interview Melanie did back in 2019 or something where she said Crybaby's growth isn't gonna be literal. Judging off of the music video, I'm assuming that Crybaby's old self has died and her old self is being mourned. I don't think Crybaby has died in a literal sense. She's going through a spiritual transformation. Everyone missed her old self but she's saying that even though she's evolved or evolving she's not really gone. But it could also apply in a literal sense where someone has passed away and they're trying to reassure their loved ones that they're always there. I don't know if this makes sense or not but this is my thoughts on DEATH.

I agree. There was misinformation on both sides and I think the situation should've been addressed better on Melanie's part but that was so long ago. And yet people love to bring up stuff that happened years ago on Twitter because they have nothing better to do with their life. It's sad.

I am SO tired of seeing people bring up all those allegations from 2017 everytime Melanie releases new music.

I have this theory about PORTALS. So, track 1 is DEATH and track 13 is WOMB. What if track 13 loops back to track 1 (I hope it happens) because the album is about the cycle of life and death. At the beginning of DEATH, we hear "Life is death is life is death is life is..." Now, here's my theory for track 13 WOMB. What if track 13 is a hint for the next album? What if the next album after PORTALS is about Crybaby's next life?

Been listening to DEATH all day. I LOVE the production and the way Melanie says "DEATH" in the background in that one part of the song. I'd say it's her best album opener.

Y'all today marks 10 years since Ode to Dawn Wiener: Embarrassing Love Songs was released. Also I watched Welcome to the Dollhouse for the first time today and I wish it was a longer movie.

I think the new album has such an interesting concept. I love the storyline and the lyrics and the production. Nicole has evolved as an artist, but her music still sounds like her if that makes sense. You can really tell how much she's evolved just by listening to her other 6 albums.

This is a great idea! I've thought the same thing ever since K-12 was released. She should've just waited to do the movie in the future rather than put it out at the same time as the album. Luckily she'll be doing that for her new album. Also I like the concept you mentioned, "here are some songs about Crybaby's teenage relationships/years" . I honestly would've just loved an album focused on Crybaby's teenage years. And I think the vintage polaroid aesthetic she had would've been great for music videos as well.

My favorite song off the album is 'Nymphs Finding the Head of Orpheus'. I've probably listened to it a hundred times at this point. Also, did y'all know that 'Nymphs Finding the Head of Orpheus' was a painting from the 1890s? I think that's very interesting.

Idk if this is true or just a rumor but I saw a comment on Instagram saying that Ethel Cain will be featured on the songs 'Bad Man' and 'I'll Wait For You To Call'. So i guess we'll just have to wait and see. I'm hoping it's true.

I hope Nicole posts the album's cover and the album's title and tracklist soon. I hope we don't have to wait until January 6th to find out. Also guessing by that clip Nicole posted there will be a music video for the title track and there might be a couple of other music videos for other songs off the album. I can't wait!

Spotify has been sending notifications to fans about Melanie Martinez releasing new music soon. (mels.clubhouse via Instagram ) (melspurgatory via Twitter) So with that being said, expect the lead single sometime between January and March.

Honestly at this point the album should be released January - March 2023. Then she should work on the videos later. I'm hoping she just puts out videos for this next era because if she tries to make a film as well, she most likely won't have enough money to give back to Atlantic.

Nicole hasn't announced the next single yet and she probably won't until January. Considering the next single is the title track I'm gonna assume the title track is coming on January 6th unless Nicole releases it next Friday the 23rd (though I think it's unlikely). I hope the next single comes out next Friday, but I guess we'll see.
