  1. a wild ride going from "love me until i love myself" to "do you wanna have kids/get married" blue banisters vibes to "its not about having someone to love me anymore - this is the experience of being an american whore" in her do i contradict myself? very well then, I contradict myself- I am large, I contain multitudes era
  2. while i do enjoy A&W & think it earned n deserves its moment, the "this is the best thing shes done since NFR album" or esp "since Venice Bitch" takes are rly frying my brain.... idk, personally i don't even think it's better than the title track let alone some of the material out of her previous 2 records but sure, i still can easily understand those who think it is ......... the way some ppl are completely disregarding the gems we got throughout COTCC/BB however is lowkey upsetting n weird, TO ME. also kinda unsurprising tho bc from what ive seen, this forum doesn't take too kindly to those two albums. tldr- black bathing suit, white dress, chem, wildflower wildfire could basically be sister tracks to a&w so atleast pay them their dues & COTCC&BB ARE GORGEOUS RECORDS ANYWAY .
  3. Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd? Did you know a singer can still be lookin' like a side piece at thirty-three?
  4. wednesday does seem like a good shout for a merch drop imo manifesting!!!
  5. ocean blvd & american whore despite sonically n stylistically being way out of one another's league, lyrically & thematically crossover very well imo & im glad she chose them as the first two singles i feel like "open me up, tell me you like it/me, fuck me to death" obviously ties into a&w perfectly- using sex as a means of validation, a way to fill certain voids/diminish insecurities an obvious difference however is the "love me until i love myself" to "it isn't about having someone to love me anymore, this is the experience of being an american whore" almost as if her state of mind on that matter completely shifted in the period between creating the two songs "I mean, look at my hair- look at the length of it there & the shape of my body If I told you that I was raped, do you really think that anybody would think I didn't ask for it, didn't ask for it?" feels like a sister lyric to "I can't help but feel somewhat like my body marred my soul, handmade beauty sealed up by two man-made walls" both touch on the same very real notion that society struggles to look past the surface level when it comes to a woman, women are reduced & diminished down to their anatomy/age/clothing & their basic humanity gets destroyed this process. other than that, she touches on her conflicts with both the press/public & her own mother, which likely are where a lot of the deeper wounds she sings of stem from, leading to her searching for a sort of "closure" to them through her loves / lovemaking (expressed in both tracks again) tldr- random thoughts, i appreciate how both the singles sort of bounce off each other, looking fwd to the great feast of the 24th!!!!!

  17. omg synopsis on that film is kinda interesting "Like most teenage girls, Minnie Goetze (Bel Powley) is longing for love, acceptance and a sense of purpose in the world. Minnie begins a complex love affair with her mother's (Kristen Wiig) boyfriend, "the handsomest man in the world," Monroe Rutherford (Alexander Skarsgård). What follows is a sharp, funny and provocative account of one girl's sexual and artistic awakening, without judgment. Set in 1976 San Francisco, THE DIARY OF A TEENAGE GIRL begins at the crossroads of the fading hippie movement and the dawn of punk rock. News commentary of the Patty Hearst trial echoes in the background, as Minnie's young expressive eyes soak in a drug-laden city in transition- where teenage rebellion and adult responsibility clash in characters lost and longing. Minnie's hard-partying mother and absent father have left her rudderless. She first finds solace in Monroe's seductive smile, and then on the backstreets of the city by the bay****. Animation serves a refuge from the confusing and unstable world around her. Minnie emerges defiant- taking command of her sexuality and drawing on her newfound creative talents to reveal truths in the kind of intimate and vivid detail that can only be found in the pages of a teenage girl's diary."
