She would use a standard album track to promote the deluxe. If we thought she hated Tunnel Vision, she despises Milk of the Sirens Also…just had a thought how Cry Baby (the song, and first track of the album) has a line about let them drown, and that’s the last line of the last track of the three album run for Cry Baby on MOTS.

OK but what is the lyric for the “spent the rent” line? I really do think it sounds like spent the rent, but what follows that? I’ve slowed it down, sped it up, still don’t know.

The one and only song I listen to from this record is Thunder. I like the released version and the demo for different reasons, but the demo is better if I had to choose one. Never liked Dealer, I don’t get the appeal. Same with Black Bathing Suit, sonically a mess for me. Might throw on Sweet Carolina at Christmas time for the vibes.

@Salem I agree with everything you said above 100% but Melanie’s still on TikTok acting like a movie is coming. So she’s going to take some time to wrap her brain around the fact that it isn’t coming, wasting time. I wonder if any other MVs are even in the works besides VOID. I really don’t care at all about the story. K-12 was so terrible I didn’t even finish the movie, so I don’t know or care to find out Crybaby’s story prior to Portals. Music videos are great, but even they are a dying art. I’ll watch it if there is a movie (if I still care in two years), and I admire the commitment to the craft, but she’s going to seriously lose some of these 14-20 year olds that are the sort of core of her fan base right now if she waits another 4 years to put out new music.

I’d be surprised if Tunnel Vision has a different vocal take. It sounds the same? Just clearer.

Did anyone order the signed CD outside of the box set? Has yours shipped? I emailed Mel’s store yesterday and no reply. Kind of annoying since I ordered it like within 5 min of the album announcement.

Needle and Thread is my absolute favorite, beautiful, relatable, it hit me hard right away. Some of her best lyricism to date, and still catchy and with a good beat.

I think there will be more music, perhaps an EP. I don’t think it will be anytime soon and I doubt she even knows what’s going on it at this point. Dragons Blood, Garden, and Needle and Thread (in that order) are still coming up a lot on social media with people asking for them. Who knows how many songs are left out there from sessions with CJ and other producers also. I think Portals getting a deluxe right away was a way to get Sirens out there quicker, and also get more streams right away. I don’t see this era getting less music than K-12 got.

Correct. The gatefold is kinda ugly honestly. I kinda want the UO green version in addition to the splatter I got, but I’ll wait and see if there’s a deluxe or something later on.

I hope we get pretty much the entirety of Portals at the shows. I wonder if she will do any CB or K12 like she did at Lolla. I could live without.
