  1. Percussion to me always feels really difficult to choose and write, and perform, and getting a good drummer doesn't always help. Drums and percussion is really hard. Here is why playing or recording percussion is so hard. https://drumsector.com/why-are-drums-so-hard-to-play/
  2. Considering how stripped back many of her songs are, and how great that is for remixes and samples, I'm surprised there isn't a substantial amount of remixes of a lot of her songs. Like a lot of her music is perfectly formatted for remixes and samples.
  3. Pretty dope, and slow enough that a dnb drum track that's twice the speed could be remixed over it.
  4. Critical Lana fans, abusive record labels, and lazy, short sighted and pretentious managers, asking Lana where der bops at. https://images.app.goo.gl/123p5fW6vSmGpYFc8
  5. What I see when Lana fans say she needs to be pushed. https://images.app.goo.gl/tCXGL25HPwwEgEpD7
  6. If you met Lana, would you honestly tell her that you believe her producer doesn't push her enough? Do you believe pushing her would get the results you want, or would it just cause more problems? Some people don't respond well to being pushed, and actually perform worse because of it. Which is why you should stick with yo friends who like you for you and aren't trying to change you, and whom are people you feel comfortable around.
  7. Speaking on the nature of modern producers, I recently found out that Hans Zimmer can't read music, and Rick Rubin has basically no technical ability to play any instrument. That being said, Jack is exemplary for a multitude of reasons and seems like a pretty chill dude, which is always a plus.
  8. Some of you Lana fans are so demanding, and hyper critical. If one didn't have the ability to tune it out, it could cause an artist to meltdown or hit analysis paralysis trying to please everyone.
  9. Finding a producer you click and vibe with is hard. Also a lot of producers are fxcking weird, big heads, kinda dxcks, creepy, over bearing, rude, etc...
  10. That has sometimes kinda been her schtick. Maybe that was her idea? I don't think it's necessarily or always bad. I saw she was singing into like a Shure beta 58 which is like a mid quality live performance mic at Jon's place, with no sound dampening. Which is why that song may have not sounded very crisp. Jon is more of a performance artist than a producer.
  11. Jack has won producer of the year, two years in a row. I can tell you as a person who knows quite a bit about music production, that he is a very good producer, and pays attention to details that most producers don't.
  12. Just try to be considerate to Lana and others and try not to be rude. People are also usually much nicer in person than they are through texts or forums. If you are going to be critical of Lana or others, at least try to be respectful.
  13. Jack is hanging out playing music during, I'm guessing what is, his honeymoon. She did get a degree in philosophy and she has always seemed conscious of her agency enough to be aware of that, if it was the case, while also understanding that we are influenced by an unknowable number of things. Some of which we can point to and say they may have more or less influence. There is so much going on in life and art, how can we really say some of the things we say, with absolute conviction? In most ways, art is something that would have less assurance of a conviction of a critique or summary of the art. How can any of us ever know what an artist knows, is, does, or is trying to convey?
  14. If she were to listen to popular opinion, and a lot of fans say that everything she writes needs to be only and completely her creations and only poetry about her life solely with no covers, would be putting an extreme unfair amount of artistic pressure on an artist. Though I'm not saying she hasnt, or can't do it, it's just asking so much as a fan, rather than just appreciate what she does and has done.
  15. Previously unreleased, Ennio Morricone orchestral psychedelic country down tempo surf rock spaghetti western song, for the blade runner 2065 soundtrack.
  16. I think it's important that if you want to talk about what you dislike, you should at least try to make an effort to do it in a compassionate or empathetic way. She seems like one of the nicest, down to earth musicians to her fans and it's the right thing to do to show her the same respect or appreciation.
  17. Old school country hits so much differently than modern stuff. I eventually started appreciating bluegrass and other more, "outside the genre" of modern popular country after listening to the grateful dead and their offshoots. What would something like, psychedelic country surf rock sound like?
  18. Cool video example. Thanks for sharing.
  19. It's also really difficult for a lot of musicians to click with another artist or producer. I think the thing that Jack and Lana have going on is really a blessing. I greatly respect Jacks attention to detail and like a lot of his compositions. I think that he really gets Lana and appreciates what she does and that is the precedent for the music that follows. He's never seemed to show any sign that he thinks differently. He also won producer of the year last year.
  20. Everybody wants to play art director with their favorite musician, painter, or actor.
  21. "Has written hundreds of songs" I guess it depends on what you define as writing a song because homegirl is sometimes like a real time musical.
  22. I'm probably going to like something about everything shes on. Even songs like dealer have interesting samples to use.
  23. Yeah Im not trying to disrespect guy, but that's about as cringe of a country song I could think of, but I guess I understand what he's trying to say. She's in that kinda country vibe on the tour with Nikki. Her musics always trying to skate that edge of some type of genre but not being fully describable as one or the other. One thing seems for sure, that she doesn't ever make any music that is plastic, cheesy, or corny, and it seems she works very hard to never have made anything like that and tries to stay away from djs or whatever, who try to get artists to make the music only how they see fit. I think she was worried about that with, doin time, of perhaps not giving its worth as a song. Back then when sublime came out, so many people were listening to that so much. It was ridiculously good.
  24. Singers like Joan Baez sung alot of covers on their albums.
  25. Writing all the lyrics, singing, melodies, rhythms, for an entire album is one thing with a band, and an engineer. By yourself it is a monumental sized production. You also make a lot of things that you don't feel like going back to so most of the time you are making almost, twice as much music, as is going on an album, to actually make the album. It's about striking that balance of being able to still do what you want to do, such as directing her own videos, when producers don't want to develop them, versus working with other producers or artists and their ideas.
