One of her most beautiful songs. I don’t listen to it often but every time I do, I’m reminded just how gorgeous it is. Deserves to be in a film.

maybe im misunderstanding what youre saying, but Punish isnt "about a real life case" it just uses Plauche as an analogy and thats it.

also im confused with "pederasty/pedophilia isnt a philia". uh yeah it is? hence the name? necrophilia is also a philia even though it is a heinous crime. being a crime doesnt revoke its philia status.

anyways, i still think Punish is actually a far better deconstruction of and helpful insight into pedophilic abuse than most pedo-denouncing media we're subjected to.

i oft think about those "pedo catchers" content farms online who clearly do not *really* care about helping abused children, they just want to find someone society is understandably too scared to defend so they can beat the shit out of them for fun and record it. i feel like those channels are an extreme microcosm of the average persons sentiment. the avg joe does not want to put in the effort for real change and preventative action, that would require very hard work, mercy/understanding for the abhorrent, plus dismantling and reworking abusive institutions like the church and the family. while they would never admit it for virtue signaling reasons, a large percent of ppl would rather just stick their head in the sand pretending abuse isnt transpiring, and only after-the-fact tie the pedo to an electric chair (which does literally nothing) when the evidence becomes too much to ignore, pretending that they did something noble.

Punish on the other hand posits a better perspective to the pedophilia contagion than just ignorance and electric chairs. the lyrics (at least to me) imply that pedophelic abusers are not genetically predestined (predisposed ≠ predestined), but rather created by poor environments, abuse incurred to oneself by other pedophiles, and a kneejerk culture that wholly alienates potential pedos who havent abused yet and want help to fix their urges. pedophilia is *very* often cyclical, having a child abused by a pedophilia will become a pedophile who abuses another. none of these rationale excuses their actions and means they shouldnt be put in prison, but it is important to talk about and doesnt "minimize the childs abuse". emphasis should always be put on prevention of abuse, not belated performative justice, and by researching pedophiles from an analytical mostly-non-biased perspective, and not a kneejerk "kill on sight!!!" mentality is the way to do that.

    Furry Fucking Convention

    Goddamn, fur-child
You fluffed me so good I almost said I love you
    You're fun and you're feral
But you don't know half of the shit you put me through
Your kibble is bad and you blame the vet
But I can't change that, I can't change your mood

    'Cause you're just a furry
    It's just what you do
    Your snout in your paws
    As you color me blue
    Yeah, you're just a furry
    All through and through
    Your snout in your paws
    As you color me blue
    Blue, blue, blue

    Goddamn, fur-child
You act like a pup even though you stand six foot two
Self-loathing animal, resident fur convention know-it-all
You talk to your fur-suit when the convention gets bored of you
But I don't get bored, I just smell it through
Why wait for the heat when I could have you? You?

    'Cause you're just a furry
    It's just what you do
    Your snout in your paws
    As you color me blue
    Yeah, you're just a furry
    All through and through
    Your snout in your paws
    As you color me blue
    Blue, blue, blue

her drawing is definitely strange, and uncomfortable to look at, but i've heard people online claim it's intended to be someone of age, despite being drawn in a chibi style, so i don't know if it's automatically fair to brand it as CP or CP-adjacent, art is often very subjective and interpretable, and can often be misunderstood as well, i personally think it looks like a young man drawn in a chibi-like style, and also, it's heavily-stylized, and honestly not very anatomically-correct, so in that case, i feel like trying to dissect and analyze whether or not it's intended to be somebody of age is just a losing game, only hayden herself could know that for sure

i do think the drawing is very jarring, and absolutely inappropriate, at least, to share online, if it is depicting somebody underage, especially since the caption is pretty cheeky about it, and not taking it and what it depicts very seriously, i'm not one to dictate art, but i do believe it's highly inappropriate for someone to make depictions of children sexually/violently (assuming it is intended to be a child), we can't know for sure what exactly inspired her to draw something like that, but it should be very obvious by now that her work touches on many heavy subjects, of which have been relevant to her life, such as religion, sexuality, trauma, ETC. so perhaps there's more reasoning behind such a drawing, regardless, it likely wasn't appropriate for her to share publicly

at the end of the day... there's nothing we can do to change what artists have done in the past, we just have to decide whether or not we can look past certain things, and choose to continue to engage with someone's work, or not, not too long ago people here were criticizing her for being pro-life 12 years ago when she was like, 14 (which was RIDICULOUS lol people were just grasping at straws trying to find reasons to hate on her) or for some stupid edgy legalize incest shirt, and it's especially silly to me seeing people here fight about it while simultaneously being fans of artists who have done similarly questionable or worse things, including LDR! some would argue it was really weird for her to use footage from a kiddie pageant documentary in her homemade music videos, something i actually personally feel a bit uncomfortable with, but it's not enough for me to stop supporting her, are we brigading the melanie martinez thread talking about her sexual assault allegations? no, or, at least, i haven't, i can't recall that ever happening in recent times

it just seems like fighting over artists and what problematic things they have done just doesn't go anywhere, especially doing it in the artist's designated thread which will be populated by fans, we're all aware of hayden's actions, artistic choices, ETC. we aren't oblivious to it, we still choose to listen to her music anyway, just like with any other fans of artist who have done strange/questionable/bad things

My ideal for The Right Person Will Stay is 0 covers, 0 interludes, 0 unreleased songs and 0 Tough. They fill up a space of a potential full original unheard song (RIP Zodiac). Covers and unreleased songs can stay standalone unless the song must really really fit with the theme of the album. Interludes can stay in the outros or music videos, I never stream her interludes besides Stargirl and Burnt Norton (I like the Jon interlude but I rarely listen to it). The only exception for it is Roses Bloom For You if she really wants to put it out on the album. But again, I don't know how it will fit with the other tracks. And Tough...well I think we know our consensus around it lol. I don't mind (original) collabs if they fit with the album. Let The Light In and Tomorrow Never Came for example worked fine for me.
