Sitar replied to Sitar's topic in Lana Thoughts
this is the thread you want -
Oh no at the make or break comments, I thought we'd all accepted that if Electra Heart didn't launch her to pop stardom, nothing would

Sitar replied to Mind Melt's topic in New Releases
Okay, so it looks like the WC Radio Mix is the only regional exclusive and Flipside is just for a few select physical editions -

Ultraviolence - Pre-Release Thread
Sitar replied to lflflflflflflflflflf's topic in Retired Pre-Release Threads
I can't find Lana in the iTunes column browser, did anyone see the writing credits for Is This Happiness? -
Yasss found it http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/music/pop-rock/ultraviolence-deluxe-edition/702923 Fucking Australia though

I do my hair up, all high and wide, white flowers, tie-dye --> "look @ me look @ me" lol I'm not saying Lana hasn't invited this criticism herself with some of her interviews but let's call it what it is and say Lana's always been this way and the supposed glory days aren't all that. It just seems like (not saying it is) this particular criticism is coming from a kind of disenchantment a lot of fans have with her current persona and a knee-jerk preference for anything ~nostalgic~ re critiquing a critique and people being fans of her lyrics: I just found it odd because these BB lyrics are so Lizzy in style and delivery, they just happen to include more tryhard references. So I could get behind an argument calling her tryhard but not one saying she doesn't try (or she used to be worlds better). lol if that makes sense Observe that disenchantment I mentioned I get you but that's a matter of opinion I think because the production is giving me everything.

Where is this from?
-
No but you guys really do too much about her lyrics. A verse like "Do you like my fake nails, daddy? / Black palm tree, pink tiger stripes / Used to go to the Comfort Inn, yeah / Will you buy me a slice of cherry pie?" would get ripped to shreds if we'd never heard it and it popped up in 2014 with her deep ass voice and big lips. But no she wuz Lizzy she wuz poor how cute she tried then (?). Not to say Paradise doesn't have some shit lyrics but Brooklyn Baby is not the battle to fight
-
Yeah you're right. Working on it. Think I will change the thread name to "Ultraviolence Pre-order Directory" so this can be the thread for all the versions that pop up...Objections anyone?

Lana Del Rey performs "Ultraviolence" (Song) in Vancouver
Sitar replied to C0neyIslandKing's topic in Latest News
West Coast was totally different sonically from anything she's released, but I kinda like how Ultraviolence and Shades of Cool both take good ol fashioned Lana strings and then mix them with some rock oriented psychedelic shit. Now I understand how she could possible compare it to MDM and Blue Jeans. -
Physical Exclusive Bonus Track Revealed: "Flipside"
Sitar replied to Mind Melt's topic in New Releases
Oh my god because it's a bonus track and she doesn't consider it as part of the album! We should be bowing to her for stimulating economies tbh. On that note, have we checked all country's iTunes links for new stuff? Japan often gets extras. -

Right, and then SOC (obv tie to Black Beauty which is obv about Barrie due to them dating when Lana dyed her hair) brings in this element of him sleeping with other women and it seems like some kinda arrangement they have going? I mean get it Barrie buuuuut that's so weird I would not expect that So Lana may actually not be celebrating herself as the other woman in the Nina Simone cover but singing it's actual message? -

When (s)he calls, (s)he calls for me and not for you SOC is giving me open relationship teas. I hope she sucked Dan Auerbach tbh -
I distinctly hear "unfixable" rather than "invincible", which makes more sense with her trying to break through to his world (what can I do to turn you on or get through to you?)

Ughhhh I'm literally reacting like obscene tweens in celebrity mentions on twitter Fuck me til I bleed you beautiful beautiful bitch -
Embrace Lana ha lounge singer era! I love how this song swells like Million Dollar Man. Such a life-giving effect in both songs. Yet as apt as some comparisons have been, it still feels like a total departure. The unintelligible bridge is especially cool.
