Arthur Lynn song, Mo, but I'll forgive you for avoiding Lanalysis.

Anyway, awesome post, evil! I'll be happy to just directly quote you like the Mr. Campbell stuff in Lanalysis--it doesn't do much for "relating songs", but it's interesting regarding her relationship. ("Put Me in a Movie" was recorded far too early to be a Mike song, despite that disgustingly fortuitous title.)

And since MM is a "filmmaker", it's only a matter of time before that sextape you all thirst surfaces Would rather see Reeve naked, even Jimmy...hell, even Bradley before Mike, too.

    But let's not with that

So we don't paint him as a total asshole.

I'm aware of all the lyrics talking about abuse (hit me, my darling, tonight / I don't know why, but I like it), but I just hope she was being somewhat...figurative.

Jimmy's tattoo is definitely a dragon, but honestly that's close enough to a snake for me Don't know if you've read the OP, lola (no fault if you haven't), but she definitely posted the song on his Facebook. Yayo and Jimmy Gnecco are probably the only songs we can totally, definitively attribute to one guy.

I guess he wasn't drowning in money, but to think he was a drug dealer in addition to being a ~rockstar~ is strange.

Some things to suggest "You & Me" isn't about Jimmy:
    - Blue water from the sea, hands all over me vs. Kill Kill's (or rather, The Ocean's) I'm in love lying in the sand--a K song. And Dark Paradise is sometimes considered a sequel to Kill Kill, so...ocean shit = K?
    - Jimmy isn't the only man on earth with tattoos.

I said hey Jimmy Gnecco I like the way your name echo

This has actually kind of been bothering me. I hope Lana's relationship was fucked up on its own merits and not the fact that he hit her. That any of them hit her.

I have a Cola theory, if you will indulge me (you oughta, after all this time):

Lana has said that her two "identities" aren't different people in her mind, and that she'd like an escape ever now and then to Lana Del Rey, badass confident performer. What if Cola is her identifying with another persona? Demure Lizzy versus slutty Lana? Lizzy being the wife in this equation, and Lana being the mistress. I don't know. I just don't know. This song is so confusing.

Do we think that Jimmy Gnecco sold cocaine? The tattoo lyrics in "You & Me" seem to indicate him, but then there's the selling yay line--we've pretty well established that we think K was a drug-dealer.

Another thing I've been meaning to talk about. I do reckon she cheated on Barrie. She lived with a former boyfriend in New York around that time and--in my world--definitely had a thing with Bradley. Both could only have occurred after August 2011. Anyone else remember reading about them breaking up, around May was it? It could have something to do with that, hence the melancholy undertones of "Ride" and potentially "Body Electric". I think the reason they're so public now is because Lana proved she was done messing around when they got back together.

But Hunter, I'm interested in why you think Bradley and Porcelain Black were together at the time.
  7. cheaptrailertrashglm liked a post in a topic by Sitar in LANALYSIS: Relating Songs To Known/Assumed Relationships
    You're a darling.

I had no idea Bradley and Porcelain were a thing when Lana hired him. Very interesting. That pretty much makes her the other woman no matter what, hmm? You see, I'm confident they had a fling. I think it's a bit naive to say they didn't.

"Cola" is interesting. I'm pretty sure the verses have nothing to do with the chorus and serve only as poetry of a sort to emphasize what a badass slut she is. I only think this because Barrie inspired the Pepsi cola line, and yet he's not one of those "men who are older". And he's certainly not married. I think it absolutely makes sense for it to be about Bradley. Which leaves "Radio" kind of in the dust...

If there are no objections or counterarguments, I'm going to go ahead and call "Cola" our second Bradley song Was hoping for at least one on Paradise.

I respect your opinions but I can't help but immediately refute them:
    1. Just because she only explicitly names one guy, first and surname, in all the songs she's written doesn't mean she isn't writing about others. LBR, try rhyming something with "Mizrahi". I will point out that she qualified VG, BTD, and BJ as a trilogy, but not a trilogy about the same man. There's a rather lengthy post within expanding on that, if you're open to giving it a look.
    2. She's said a lot of damn things, to be honest. The count goes up to two when you consider that she also said "Video Games" is about two different guys. And while "Blue Jeans" may be vague in it's criminal references, Sirens certainly isn't, although I'm interested in hearing you explain how "Now he's in a jail cell for some thirty years now / Is this what you wished, to be serving time?", "K's a friend of mine, I think about him as he does time", and "Last year they decided that his time was up and he got re-tried / Double homicide / Now he's onto death row, not to hang around, though / Is this what you wished, did you wanna die?" are some grand metaphors for Jimmy.

I would say that Jimmy was an important guy. But I think they all were--at least, K, Mike, and Jimmy. I'd even agree that a lot of Born to Die is likely about him, but to discredit her long-term relationship with Mike and some glaring, obvious references to prison that totally avoid any subtlety at all just because something she said in an interview is not so wise in these analyses.

And I absolutely refuse to incite a race war in this thread, those posts were the epitome of harmless speculation.

It's not a wish for her to be a Lolita, Jimmy Gnecco and Mike Mizrahi are both like a decade or more older than her.

Or she wants Barrie to be her "full-time daddy" because, well..."singing blues has been getting old".

Welcome to LANALYSIS, where we get real unhealthy in our obsessions and absolutely revel in it.

This is a project I've been maintaining for a while now--Lana + Analysis...get it? The basic purpose is to relate every one of her songs (that's right, every last one of them) to her known and assumed relationships. Not a stone is left unturned. Privacy is violated. The fans rejoice. Mind you, it’s all pure speculation, but ~this is what makes us stans~

It’s pretty long but an interesting read, if I do say so myself. I hope you enjoy it in all it’s updated glory, and I will continue to update as new information is revealed and new songs come out. I will also be adding pictures, sources, etc. Stay tuned!

    Let’s get started!

    EARLY RELATIONSHIPS (1985 - ~2005)

    LOCAL ROCKSTARS (~2005 - 2009)

YOU MADE ME NICE FOR A WHILE (2009 - 2011)

    POST-BREAKTHROUGH (2011+)

    IN THE LAND OF DISCREPANCIES

    ADVANCED LANALYSIS

    IN SUMMARY..

    Lingering questions…
    - Who the fuck is K?
    - Who the fuck is Ray?
    - Who the fuck is Bill? Is Bill really K? Does Bill matter at all?
    - What significance do cars play? She mentions eight in total (white Corvette, white Pontiac, blue Chevy Nova/Chevrolet, Cadillac convertible, Mercedes, pickup truck, Lamborghini, Bugatti Veyron)
    - When was she/who was she with in New York City and New Jersey? Ditto LA? Most mysterious and pressing, her time in the South?
    - Did she have a fling with Bradley Soileau?
    - Did Chris C. matter enough to her for her to write songs about him?

    Assumptions Made:
    - Lana was a gogo dancer.
    - K is a drug dealer/murderer, dead or on death row.
    - Jimmy is her ex-fiancé, addicted to cocaine despite a Wikipedia page stressing how healthy he is, associated with Chevrolets.
    - Much of Sirens is about completely different relationships.
    - She fucked Bradley.
    - Mike controlled her career but their relationship wasn’t associated with anything fucked up like drugs or stripping.

Thanks for reading! I crave both your feedback and theories! This remains a forum collaboration and I don't claim to have the final say on Lanalytical manners.

For the sake of believability, I'm always hunting receipts, and currently:
    - The interview where she refers to "Yayo" as the prequel to "Video Games"
    - The interview where she describes "Video Games" as dealing with mutual sobriety in a relationship--her and her partner both staying clean.
    - The interview where she talks about meeting her boyfriend in rehab and being dazzled by his small-scale celebrity.

Lana recently caught a lot of attention from observant fans when she spoke in very precise terms about her leaked material. In an interview with The Guardian, she revealed the leaks this fanbase is so familiar with resulted from her computer being hacked in 2012 and exactly 211 of her unreleased songs being taken:

Unreliable leak blogs have previously reported ludicrous numbers like 700, but something about the exactness of this number is worthy of consideration. Surely we must be approaching 211 unreleased songs, right? But the interview made the same mistake many of us probably make--he lumped in unhacked material with this batch of 211. Indeed, "Black Beauty" was procured by other means, as were a good amount of other songs. So I decided to make this list to try to clear up discrepancies and see if we can't guesstimate which songs we have popped up from this 211. All four early albums/EPs are exempt, as they are sort of confirmed to be not hacked.

Songs not from the assumed hacked batch will be bolded and given sources, and troublesome discrepancies in red. Keep in mind this is all assumption-based! We do have to consider that Soundcloud finds were probably not within this batch because we (hopefully) would have gotten in better quality.

Referring to this thread, we can see several songs surfaced in 2011 and therefore cannot be expected to be from this batch. However, certain songs were later provided in higher quality and likely from the hack (I believe the list is "National Anthem (Demo)", "Hundred Dollar Bill", "On Our Way", and "Money Hunny," correct me if I'm wrong), so if you have any more precise, non-incriminating information about sources (particularly songs under 2011 in that thread), let me know!

*The origin of this demo, fan-titled "No Kung Fu," is unconfirmed. If anyone knows whether or not it came from the batch, alert me.

    Thirty blocks to Fordham Road

    Crack house on the corner

A stone Mary in the garden
She let me know she watchin'
And she said I better get walkin'
    I better walk away

I don't know why it is that I wanna stay
I don't know what it is that makes me feel this way
But I'm not gonna do what I hear me say
I'm just gonna walk, I'm gonna walk away

I catch a dollar in the wind and I
    Buy a cup of coffee
    There's a place on Valentine
    That still charge ninety cent

I keep on walking in the daytime
And in my eyes, it's always nighttime
And I like it when it's midnight
'Cause that's when all the stars come out

I don't know why it is that I wanna stay
I don't know what it is that makes me feel this way
