Just my opinion but I thought NTLTC was one of the weaker pop songs on Sweetener and I still dont know why they chose it as a lead single.

Its a modernized Netflix revivial of an old US TV show called “Queer Eye For the Straight Guy”. The Netflix one is the same principle but they do more “lifestyle” changes and not only help straight men

I may be wrong but going by BFY description, she was probably at a writing camp organized by Julia and her team. The song was probably written with the intention of being shopped to other artists and was probably never intended to for Charli or Julia.

TYN is miles ahead of Sweetener. You can tell she was still feeling out the more rythmic style on Sweetener. That album had some good songs but as a body of work it felt kind of pieced together. You can tell she really found her stride with TYN, it feels like a much more complete body of work and the singles sound so much better in the context of the whole album. A lot of TYN’s vibe reminds me of Be My Baby which is one of my favorite songs she’s ever done.

Not trying to argue you, but I'm talking about how she's brought up in multiple interviews that she's very influenced by hip-hop and songs like Hills, Faded, and even All the Time are much more rhythmic than dance pop/ballad. Again I think you're all overreacting to my opinion that she should tread lightly when using those types of sounds, it was a small critique that I'm not sure why so many people are upset about.

I've been on the internet since the dawn of the cultural appropriation in pop music conversation so yes I do understand there is a difference between appropriation and appreciation, however I think that Kim is walking a very fine line between the two and she should tread carefully. Whether or not you agree with me, I brought up a simple, valid critique that it seems she does not work with black people while borrowing sounds/styles from black culture. Calling one of my favs on something that they do isn't "starting sh*t" and I don't understand why some of you are so upset at me pointing out that she doesn't work with black creatives..........
