New Americana is similar at the chorus but ... come on. And the Sky video .. I think calling it a rip off is weird, as the few parts that are similar aren't really that bad.

Like, so many people here are around and about finding ONE TRUE meaning of Lana lyrics, they are fans of lana being sassy on social media and sometimes super rude themselfes, because they thhink it makes them interesting for some odd reason .. Have your opinion, like her or don't like her but don't be a hypocrate.

I'm sure Halsey will surpass the sales of Ryn and Melanie - she should especially be able to blow past Ryn with no problems. She seems to have a bigger viral fanbase to fall back on.

I think on hits daily double they said that she has been doing well w/ pre-orders, I'm not sure exactly what doing well with pre-orders would equate to in first-week sales, but I'm going to guess that 30-45k (maybe 50k) is probable. I think she'll do better than whatever Ryn did, and that she'll sell more than whatever Melanie Martinez is going to sell.
 
As to her attitude towards people about her music, I think her (along w/ Ryn) need to realize that once you release your music, you need to just let the music speak for itself. I'm not saying she can't clarify something discussed about one of her songs, but she needs to be more selective in what she addresses and specifically, how she addresses it. Coming off bitchy, rude, and ungrateful does not do her any good for her image. With an artist like her, whose fan base in entirely made up of people who frequent the internet, she may need to realize that anything she does do on the internet, her fans will be aware of it. If she continues with a hot & cold attitude, that could turn away potential future fans and  turn off current fans.

The arguments made against Lana in 2011/12 are more serious because she went from aspiring night club meth addict with a music career clutching onto dear life and suddenly became this glamorous depiction of the lost generation with a grand image. I do think the NA vs NA thing wouldn't be 100% her fault, it may be a nod to Lana or even just something that happened during the production phase that slipped past her or the producers. But tons of songs sound similar because it's all been done before.
 
That's 100% subjective. Lana is an artistic person with a borderline fake or "exaggerated" persona. Who has time to live in all of those states, have a bunch of boyfriends and "live on the open road" while they're in college and attempting to start their music career?
 
Halsey is an anagram of her first name (and the name of a street she spent a lot of time). But having a stage name that's basically the rearranged letters of your own name is a crime? May Jailer? Lizzy Grant? Lana Del Rey? Call me back when Elizabeth comes up with a new persona. Lana is fake because people called her out on her shit before her "first" album came out. BTD was no way representative of Lizzy's first body of work as an artist. At the very least, AKA seems to be her first attempt at her bad girl image but when that ultimately fell through she tried to completely erase it from existence.

I do believe that it was the label who hires the team, because they were originally going to look for a male counterpart but then Halsey pushed for a female lover. If Sky really has the 'receipts,' you would think she would have had the guts to post them during her temper tantrum against her label.
