  1. I don’t think the reason for Tack Truck leading into VB is that deep, she was probably just feeling quirky and silly I have a feeling that there is no more to TT regardless
  2. What 15 year old edited the Genius annotation for Candy Necklace A reference to MARINA’s 2012 song “Teen Idle.” “Feeling super, super (Super!) suicidal”
  3. I still have no idea what anybody’s problem with that song was those drums were the best part, it was such an interesting mix of textures going on. Very noir and 90s sounding.
  4. Here’s the thing. Drew is objectively a very skilled producer and makes beautiful, rich music. But my issue is that it is almost so rich and thick in tone (specifically middle-low end) that things like drums have no space in the mix. Lana’s voice is front and center which I do enjoy but it’s so rich and intimate that the music loses some oomph. I would prefer she step away from him as well. Personally, I prefer her music when the mix allows for more room to breathe. I like when her voice sounds “cool” in tone, like on UV and the instrumentals have a mix of cool and warm. With Drew it’s warm overload. Rick and Dan still are my favs, at this point Jack is getting a bit stale for me. I don’t like the trap-lite stuff and his mellow guitar and strings combo is getting overdone in her catalogue. I agree with others that more work with Dawes and Baptiste would be a welcome change. I can’t help but pray for a Dan return though
  5. 1. Grandfather 2. American Whore 3. Did You Know… 4. Candy Necklace Are my instant favorites. This is album is like a more mature Lust For Life. I just wish it felt more cohesive. I feel like I’m listening to a Lana style mixtape. Not feeling the trap bops so much, would have much preferred her just to expand on the balladry like she did on Gradfather by adding in other instruments besides piano. This record has a very “this or that” sonic identity which makes it hard for me to get lost in its world.
  6. One of the few times I think the album actually might sound better on Spotify, there’s almost too much space in the Apple Music link and it loses a bit of impact.
  7. It is, but starting with Grandfather, it becomes much more instrumentally complex. Those last 6 songs are much more diverse! Should have been Grandfather but not mad
  8. The way I switched on Fingertips, a career highlight lowkey. It’s integral to her story.
  9. Candy Necklace really tied this record together. It’s an essential track to the albums flow
  10. I hope you know that you truly are the second most famous person in the LDR Cinematic Universe behind Lana herself
  11. being either a Christian or a pastor isn’t an excuse to support bigotry and (let’s be honest) down right objectivity stupidity. Lana is totally not spared from criticism. This man being on her album is an open endorsement of his Republican views and I can’t support that. Somebody who is anti-abortion shouldn’t be uplifted by someone who allegedly cares about social causes (Lana). She can easily find a church that is non-denominational and/or progressive. There are plenty. The church on my corner has both BLM and pride flags flying and donates to Planned Parenthood. Stop making excuses for her. Looking forward to that mess of an interlude being the least streamed track on the album. It’s so uncomfortable
  12. I still can’t figure out for the life of me why so many reviewers simply haven’t even mentioned Candy Necklace. This song is such a mystery. I only listened once because it’s LQ but
  13. the gays never beating the can’t do math allegations huh Edit: I was in fact the one who couldn’t do the math
  14. I hate that Fishstail and TT are just okay to me. I don’t like Jack’s trap-lite stuff at all personally. It sounds too Taylor’d
  15. Joanna is the best comparison I can think of. There are core melodies that are repeated throughout the song but structure wise it is very rambling and doesn’t conform to a specific bpm/tempo. Ys era Joanna, for sure.
  16. This album is so great, I just don’t think the track listing works in its favor The middle portion kind loses steam with Kintsugi and Fingertips despite how much I like them. They would fit better somewhere else on the album methinks
