deeth 107 Posted November 16, 2012 I loved Regina up until 2006, but then Joanna Newsom's Ys came out and we broke up. Aww, I'm a big fan of pre-2006 Regina. I still buy everything she puts out, but those earlier recordings are my favourites. In the Megan and Menace Mornings interview Lana surprisingly said that she likes Regina. I like Regina Spektor. You know when I was young my boyfriend in the city made my first record. His best friend Jack was Regina’s longtime boyfriend— they’re married now. She was such an inspiration. She was on the lower east side and going to the same open mics and then all of a sudden she had a record out and it did well. Eventually we met up and went to a show together and she was so nice. She’s very cool 2 Quote To be away from all, to be one of everything
10milestereo 228 Posted November 16, 2012 Soviet Kitsch is a perfect album! She lost me with parts of Begin to Hope and I really haven't liked anything since.

YUNGATA 14,955 Posted November 16, 2012 Soviet Kitsch is a perfect album! She lost me with parts of Begin to Hope and I really haven't liked anything since. 10milestereo 228 Posted November 16, 2012 Some days I like Songs a little bit more than Soviet Kitsch, but most days they're about even. I just wish she'd stop with the slick production already.
Sitar 22,210 Posted November 16, 2012 I know the bare minimum of Regina Spektor songs, I guess. I like them Really abused the replay button on "Hero" when I was, like, 15.
Madrigal 2,616 Posted November 16, 2012 One of my ALL TIME favorites. Ever. The first musician I truly loved (excluding Enya), and sea kept me ever since. Soviet Kitsch is probably my favorite, but Begin to Hope is almost as dear to me. "Braille" is one of my favourite songs ever, and moves me like few others. I also LOVE her unreleased, and the songs from the 'Beauty' musical are great...maybe one day we'll be able to hear more. UGH she's just perfect.
Guy 976 Posted November 16, 2012 everything>WWSFTCS . I still love her though I used to frequent the stix -Regina's forum, where she even had an account! - and it's just so different from this community, almost everybody was willing to share everything -and even Regina herself promoted bootlegs, haha. It's not a complain or anything, it's just something I remembered And please share the loveology demo thx   who? u r reported u r goin down
deeth 107 Posted November 17, 2012 And please share the loveology demo thx W A I T. You mean the live recording? We don't have a demo, sadly. ..Unless we do and I don't know about it in which case please excuse me while I have a heart attack. 11:11 and Songs are my favorites. I love how everyone likes a different album! My favorite unreleased songs are 8th Floor, Loveology, The Virgin Queen, Just Like the Movies... I think! 1 Quote To be away from all, to be one of everything

MafiosiPrincessa 294 Posted November 22, 2012 WHY DIDNT I KNOW THIS THREAD EXISTED??? I LOVE Regina <3 She's one of my favorites since around '06. I used to be obsessed with tracking down all of her songs via youtube. I'm still so happy Regina and Lana used to go to shows together in NYC. Jack Dishel is a great guy & I remember being thrilled once the word got out that they married. Who would've known that one of Regina's (former?)music buddies would later replace join her in my music obsessions in 2011. 1 Quote It's never 2 late 2 be the things that u might've been* i'll sing till u fall asleep- u try and remember when*the future looked lush and sweet

I'm surprised by all their connections, and I would die if they collaborated. But Regina rarely collabs, and when she does it's usually with some band nobody has ever heard of. I really hope Jesse shares more of Regi's demos with us...t.b.h., I prefer the studio version of "I Cut Off My Hair" to most of WWSFTCS. That is, assuming he has some--I have no idea.

Her demos are so interesting to hear. Most of the long time fans that I know of (few, very few) were angry that the songs from WWSFTCS were old ones and not new material. That certainly surprised me since I was really interested on hearing songs that I only had ever heard live versions of, considering that most of the songs I have of Regina are live versions or demo/studio versions. I pride myself on how lovely and accurately I can chant along to the russian part in Après Moi ^_^ As far as a collab, I just think they are so different in terms of music styles. NGL, it would be fun to see either way!! <3 It always makes me laugh when people think of Lana as the artist that you either completely hate or love because I feel Regina is the epitome of that. 0 Quote It's never 2 late 2 be the things that u might've been* i'll sing till u fall asleep- u try and remember when*the future looked lush and sweet

Why is every artist making it difficult for me to fully immerse myself?

And what's worse: some of her best unreleased songs have only been played a few couple of times (((((((((
