10 Years of Born to Die

I remember being obsessed with Video Games and Summertime Sadness (and later Young and Beautiful!) when they were released, but I didn't really get into Lana's music until years later because my friends at the time kinda hated her and made fun of me for liking those songs 

 

We haven't been friends for years lol

I didn't really become a fan until Lust for Life, and I'm kinda sad I missed out on so many amazing eras just because I cared too much about those people's opinions

But when I go back to Born to Die, everything about it continues to amaze me. The sound, the aesthetic, the demos, the live performances, the music videos....everything is just so perfectly "Lana Del Rey"

It was January 2012. I listen album first time due to hype.I was like: "Okay, I love album but it's kinda far to stanning Lana". Many songs was on replay and still are but I wasn't get huge excitement bout releasing music by someone. It was joy but not having any deeper emotions. But I barely had 12 birthday 2 months ago then lol

I really liked Lana but I didn't thought that I like her enough to stanning her hardly, buying CD's, knowing less known facts...But here I am now.

Stanning her is one of the best things I could did. She totally changed my life.

Posting this performance because it is an absolute classic and one of my favourites.  
 

From the smoky and torched gangsta voice that breaks to reveal the richness of her lower register, to the high, fluttery, girlish head voice, vocally, this performance is the signature style that Born to Die represents. The fact that this was filmed in July 2011 lends itself even more to the all-American glamour that she became known for. An iconic month for solidifying and curating the Lana Del Rey look and feel, and this performance is a further testament to that. Nobody did it like her.

I'm watching all of Lana's old homemade videos for this era and they're all just so kitschy and fantastic. Those, to me, are everything the Born To Die album and era were built on and what lead to the iconic videos we got from it. My favorite homemade BTD videos are Video Games (of course), National Anthem and Million Dollar Man
