ldrzodiac 1,645 Posted January 14 I’m unsure as to whether this thread will be approved or not… but I decided to give a go at making a thread for not only the movie “Wicked”, but also for “Wicked: For Good” and possibly even discussions surrounding the theatre show and book!!! Not just me, but I’ve noticed many fans on LanaBoards to be conversing around the subject of Wicked so this thread is great for us to share our thoughts and embrace everything Wickedddd!!!! 🩷🩷💚💚
daddyishere 458 Posted January 14 MY TIME TO SHINE! I feel like not enough people call out Nessa. Like Elphaba went out of her way to take care of her and protect her, yet Nessa treated Elphaba like she was a weirdo loser freak (just like everybody else). Like girl, that is your SISTER. I especially hated how she jeered at Elphaba when Elphaba did her lil dance. Like girl…you’re already socially guilty by association just because y’all are family. And on top of it, you have a disability in a society that shames people for being even slightly different. Why are you trying to be a part of the group that is hellbent on rejecting you at the expense of your loyalty to your sister? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU. Still mad about this. I hope her wheelchair gets stuck in quicksand in the sequel.

Like you were embarrassed at first but now because it’s cool you wanna join in? She deserves what’s coming to her in For Good
Make me your Dream Life 89,990 Posted January 14 I've never really been into the musical, or musicals in general cus typically you've got people bursting out into song, but no one's making subtitles for others to sing along it was kinda strange imho but. what I really loved about how this particular reimagining of it's the discourse that's been around it. how people can and do identify with the characters on the screen, how much they might relate to Glinda and which parts, Elphaba and which parts and the how's. I've read somewhere that the creators of the play based it off a tragic event, to which the question of, "is someone born wicked, or is thrust upon them?" and I just love the multiple perspectives of how things flow together, in parallel, unison and contrasts to all come together like gears n cogs in a machine. I never really liked how easy everyone else sort of just fell into being part of the public and what that symbolized. the parallels of different systems and how things can politicized but. what I really love about the discourse most of all, is the kind of opinions/ and how environment can sort of breed or what role environment plays out into possibly affecting an individual's perception and so on. it can parallel hollywood, and how talent can be monopolized, dynamics etc. it can relate to politics and so on. a hidden thing that not many people might realize when they take sides so easily, is that, you gotta be careful when someone says that they're above you, or too good and better than the rest so on, bc it can get tricky with that kind of thinking, whereas evil can be something inside us already, and to a lesser extent, undesirable traits or things that make us human, are keys back to retaining our humanity and it's essences, rather than the evolution or sophistication that comes with the numbing of self and passing off that apathy at the cost of others. I also like the sisterhood that the two cast members shared in and offscreen.

I've never seen the stage show, but from what I've heard there are 2 new original songs in the Part 2 movie (one for Glinda and one for Elphaba), plus possibly some Dorothy scenes... so so so excited
Candy Necklace 8,815 Posted January 14 Rewatching the movie and it makes me sad when it’s time for One Short Day. Elphaba finally feels a sense of natural belonging but it’ll only last for one short day. Then the last lines “We’re just two friends…two good friends..two best friends”
Make me your Dream Life 89,990 Posted January 18 I really just- after this movie, I honestly think that it was such a good cultural movement, and kind of gauge to see where someone's perceptions and level of perspective someone can be in. I heard that the book was a lot deeper, or at least more in depth, but I'm just loving the layers of good, evil, morality, how pieces fit together, what affects what, justifications, and a reminder to keep mindful of how you see things, and not automatically vilify something, and that not everything's black n white. I honestly think that the social discourse is a lot more complex than the actual movie, but I very much enjoyed it, and what it's doing for discussions. I'm kinda hoping it's a lot more mind-opening than just taking sides, but this sort of widespread conversation's just so good, and potentially actually beneficial for a group understanding.
ElvisLindy 0 Posted January 22 Hi everybody, I saw a Wicked Glinda edition Amazon speaker randomly on eBay and I was wondering if anyone knew more about it ? I’m considering buying it. There’s absolutely no trace on this item anywhere on the web or social media. https://www.ebay.com/itm/126884721578?_skw=wicked+amazon+echo+dot+glinda+edition&itmmeta=01JJ7QD221JJ2AB148EJGNGJXP&hash=item1d8aeb33aa:g:lmEAAOSwExRnfp1G&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA4HoV3kP08IDx%2BKZ9MfhVJKlPf7ArpGyYS8pO%2Fbf59nAI6%2B6fbFwbgxNvM8SwzSRRII4MvWiBp7yD69ZMlvK%2FzSlI62pJ20IIP6kbB%2FlO0SxFpAPoVfc7vaDGVmgvuJlO%2Bvp24NI4W1lb23oEQCqMfhaq%2FZGmo16LtHI60zZ9H9vtCX%2FfbqbGQyy%2FsX%2BvrArV%2F17pYIE7XIsMUc7%2FRvSP6vPFNtpyAlB6PcPKesUFBa8JkvboxeQkj%2Fpx9NinojlBFVJpGBi%2FQvUPq7bysPZbnki1KMwdNN%2F%2Bd%2F1Jud%2BfWB8Y%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR5ChtPeRZQ Thanks for your help! Make me your Dream Life 89,990 Posted yesterday at 06:34 AM It's probably an entertaining movie to a lot, and it's got richness of a lot, but again, the discussions surrounding the film are so good to think about. of course, moderation, but I love how it's bringing more consciousness and discussion about all the parallels.

If anything, as a big fan of the original Wizard of Oz, I was bracing for the worst, thinking they could never follow that movie without dropping the ball. *cough Looking at you, Oz: the Great and Powerful *cough But from the opening song alone, Ari's performance, the costumes, the choreo and the logo in the same style as the original movie, I knew I would love it. 🩷🩷💚💚 All the songs are solid, some incredible, all the performances, the pacing, the set design and the visuals deliver at every point. My favorite part is the Oz Dust ball (not sure if that's how you spell it). Was getting Marie Antoinette vibes but at Oz, and the dance scene between the two leads My only complaint is the Defying Gravity sunset and CGI (would have shortened that whole scene and went for quality over quantity). The visuals were veering into ugly. And I wouldn't have her cape extend that much (that works in theater, in film it just defies logic). But all in all, a great movie and Emilia Perez can go suck a bag of dicks. p.s. Watching it on stage in April and can't wait. Especially since I have no clue what happens in the second half.

This is crazy coming from a guy, but Dorothy is like the best movie character ever. All-american, on an epic journey, with the best and most memorable "i want" movie song ever.
