I know that this is supposedly a very stripped-back and slow-burning ballad — and an atypical lead single, assuming it’s not just a “promo” single of course, because this might not even be added in playlists or be accompanied by a MV, lol —, but every time Zack and Drew worked together, they gave us great tracks (Black Bathing Suit, If You Lie Down With Me, Ocean Blvd, The Grants) so I’m cautiously optimistic about this. 

 

 

Love the optimism. I'm excited for Luke L. and hearing Lana with a new producer. Not to mention that we're finally entering the new era.

 

On the other hand, I can't say I'm excited for Zack and Drew. Drew in particular.

 

Exhibit A, B, C, D, E, and F:

 

Arcadia: some of her worst vocal recordings ever, especially for a single. Lackluster production.

Beautiful, Violets for Roses: certified snooze fests.

Fingertips: the lowest point of OB for me (it's just my opinion guys, don't get triggered).

Summertime Gershwin: probably the worst single of Lana's career.

Watercolor Eyes: a song that mysteriously appears in LDR Essentials on iTunes, but no one even remembers exists.

 

Zach at least gave us California and Hollywood Bowl, both of which I adore. But then he also produced Country Roads, and Summertime Gershwin, so...

 

Let's remember Ocean Boulevard had Jack as a producer, too, so I don't count Zach and Drew as the key ingredients on this masterpiece track.

 

These two for me did very little for Lana's magnum opus and I hope they're not the main producers on the record. Jack and/or Luke need to have produced the lion's share of this thing.

I agree with you on drew, but zach produced many great songs, thunder, California, black bathing suit ( her best song ), dealer, candy necklace, and even that most of you hate text book, but the instrumental in it is rich & pretty, can’t blame him for the lyrics. So I’m excited on what he would bring to this song.

it’s because the insiders didn’t listen the newer version where lana added drums and synths
