I definitely don't think this is the case with Florence. I personally find Over the Love to be her best song. Have you read Gatsby or are you familiar with it? Because while Florence's song definitely showcases her amazing voice, the lyrics are right on point in terms of the movie - it's written from Daisy's point of view.

We had assumed it was Harvey in some other thread a while ago because she's worked with a Harvey before? Or there was a speculated relationship? Something like that. Which is obviously why she wouldn't put that in the lyric booklet. I'm also pretty sure it's "he couldn't live a lie," just because that actually makes sense and I can hear her saying that.

Why does everyone like the orchestral version of Y&B more than the main one? It's boring. Oh well, I'm used to partying alone.

Woah. I feel you but she's allowed to have her own views on that stuff. There will always be women who like being treated that way, women who love playing into gender roles. It's entirely her prerogative and she's not obligated at all to change the way she writes songs / sings just to mold into feminist ideals.

I'm not really sure how much discussion it will create but I really hope it creates a lot. I personally can barely imagine it. We know what Yayo sounds like as Lana Del Rey & Lizzy Grant but that's the only song from AKA that's been redone so far.

Okay this is a Florence thread so will someone please hold me while I listen to Over the Love because I seriously cannot calm down about how beautiful this song is no matter how many times I listen to it.

Still listening to Over the Love by Florence. I listened to Young and Beautiful a few times, but sorry Lana.. Florence's song is still years better.

The booklet is wrong on more than one occasion.

It's really good actually. I really love how the song picks up slowly as it goes on. The way drums come in at the chorus and build throughout the rest of the song. Also, the noise that comes in during the second chorus - the clanging noises. Those really get me into the mood of the song. It's beautiful and I'm glad Lana proved me wrong here.

Definitely the chorus. Especially the last chorus. The song just like.. explodes near the end and it's so powerful.

I dunno, I don't usually like Florence's songs because they bore me. Her voice is a gift from the gods but the music usually never does anything for me. This song though, it kills me. I think Lana's song for the soundtrack kind of sucks and isn't typical Lana but that's my opinion. I feel like Over the Love has a Lana feel to it in terms of the backing track (not just the loon) and maybe that's why I love it so much. It's just really wonderful and beautiful.
