    I love the verses of 13 Beaches but the chorus is so underwhelming, when I first heard it I thought the chorus was still part of the verse lol

    i know we all love to rag on roachella but i feel like it belongs on the album, part of me is conflicted because of the messy production and kinda almost shallow lyrics but the intention and bridge are incredible, plus it really ties the whole thing together. It takes all the muddy trap beats from the first half and places the more acoustic and hollow production from the latter half and puts it in one song.

     

    I would love if it was acoustic but it wouldn't have the same effect, could y'all really imagine LFL going from In My Feelings or Groupie Love to GBA? didn't think so.

    I agree with you on this but I think Coachella still would've sounded better acoustic

     

    Honestly I feel like the concept of this album is very conflicted, like having summer Bummer and tomorrow never came on the same album, I'm starting to think maybe Lana was confused by the time of album release came closer and didn't want to pull another black beauty leak/ultraviolence and quickly put the songs she had into a track list and released it.

     

    Maybe she should've added BAR, Yosemite, and roses bloom for you, original lust for life and exclude songs with heavier beats like summer bummer, white mustang, and in my feelings, lust for life (weeknd version), or even groupie love then release on may 26 and then take the excluded songs and make more bops with heavy beats with rap features then release it as a mixtape like 10 months later or something...But I'm not a singer or aritist so I don't know much about making an album so idk, what do y'all think?

    I love Get Free but I think it's overrated! The chorus is terrible, it relies too heavily on Radiohead's Creep and more than a fifth of the song is a lame attempt at beach/ocean noises

     

    Edit: plus her vocals are terrible in the chorus (besides the out of the black into the blue part)

     

    but the chorus melody is like the best thing I've ever heard! And her voice sounds so amazing throughout the song especially all those backing vocals and she sounds so amazing on the chorus too with heavy reverb backed with a lush instrumental. The beach sounds at the end are so fitting with her wanting to go out of the black into the blue.

    I think I changed my mind, in my feelings and white mustang are still the worst on the album but not as bad as 4/10 and 5/10 they're cute bops so I give it a 6, same with Coachella, I think it deserves 7. This album is amazing :)

    I used to think LFL is my fav Lana album, but after relistening to lona's other albums, the cohesive-ness of Honeymoon and Ultraviolence is making me rethink that. I love how you can listen to both the albums without skipping any song, but unfortunately lust for life includes white mustang and in my feelings, I feel like I might've overplayed those songs or something idk but I don't like them as much as I used to, it might be because the beats get excessive after groupie love and they ruin white mustang because the two don't go together. But lfl does include some of Lana's best tracks in her discography like heroin, get free and cherry.

    i got tired of LFL so quickly, i'm only able to listen to white mustang and cherry bc the rest of the songs i can't stand anymore, and the problem isn't that i got bored: IT'S BEEN ONLY 6 MONTHS SINCE LFL RELEASE

     

    and the worst is that I know I would probably prefer the scrapped songs than these ones..... dear lord

     

    but like heroin and get free exist on that album :O

     

    Did you overplay it? Like listen to the songs multiple times every day lol?

    Am I the only one disappointed that there was no motorcycle in the LFL video? Like I legit pictured the video starting with Lana and Abel riding up to the Hollywood sign. And then pulling a prank similar to the Hollyweed scandal, only theirs would make the sign say Hollyweird. Then proceeding to Dance on the H and Strip a little. And then the police show up, and they escape on his motorcycle.

    wow that would've been so amazing, although I love the mv already! Tbh I was expecting them to strip in the mv before it came out because of the lyrics but I was shook at the fact that they didn't...

    It's not strictly science. I just joke about it because of the Campbell connection. Although she has repeatedly stated her influence from vintage/retro scifi and horror in this era. We don't know the original lyrics when it was Malibu, either. It could be an entire concept shift. 

     

    Also, it's just that. A concept. Of course her journey isn't completely done, she's human and neither she, nor anyone else in real life, reaches 100% fruition of their goals and dreams wtf. But the language directly indicates inspiration from a literary perspective (again, this doesn't have to be strictly science. And she references literature all the time)

    It'd be too optimistic to think that someone in their thirties has everything figured out. 

     

    That's why I personally think LfL was more based around a character concept rather than her actual life. Her newfound happiness certainly inspired things, but by crafting a fantastical character attached to the concept (who lives in the Hollywood sign, sings on the moon, etc), she's able to detach her everyday self from the concept. Unfortunately, some critics aren't seeing that, and will now expect her to be happy forever and ever and ever

    I agree with you on this because the album trailer really proves it but I hope she releases more music videos, like atleast one more to connect the concept with the actual songs because without more visuals it feels too open ended right now.

     

    The fact that Lana couldn't even find a director for one music video makes this extremely unlikely but I think to make the era perfect we'd need sci-fi videos for cherry, GBA, Heroin and Get Free, but even videos for just cherry and get free would be good

    im js i don't remember having a communal discussion on GL since it's initial snippet leak :dmd:

    Let's have one now, it's literally so amazing and underrated, I love the Paradise ep vibes on it with the soft strings and subtle beat.

     

    Also the production on this album is soo underrated! I love how all the instrumentals are fresh sounding and now I know y'all are just gonna focus on the weaker ones like Coachella but like the title track's instrumental is literally one of the best I've ever heard. I love the all the different sounds on it and the synthy bass (at least I think it's the bass lol) sound and the wolf howling sound on it!

     

    Btw have y'all noticed all the background sounds on the other songs like sounds of shatttering glass on GBA and the airplane sound when she mentions getting on an airplane for the last time on Heroin? I love all those tiny details of the production.

    Y'all u know what, what if Lana wins bc the Grammy's arw usually about music that's both critically acclaimed and popular and since Lana managed to snag the nom, maybe she can get the Grammy too! I think Ed's album might not be a strong contender for winning bc the metascore is lower than the rest except for imagine dragons album, so I predict one of the women will win the award but I'm not too educated on how the Grammys pick their choices so I'm probably wrong...
