as arduous as the lack of content this album cycle so far has been, this is literally the smoothest things have gone as a fan in a lana era since Honeymoon. no fake dates, no album title changes, no leaks of the lead single (though it was close), no controversy, no singles a year before the album release

while not getting another single before the album would be nice in some ways because there will be more material on release day, i’m kind of scared there isn’t going to be one and it really is just going to be a dead and painful wait iirc lana hasn’t released any singles after a preorder has gone up since HM (but this is also the longest amount of time between preorder and the album coming out so maybeeee we’ll get something else)

hayden was not expecting to get as big as she did last year, she shared those instrumentals when she only had like 300,000 monthly listeners, and again with a group of close fans she had personally been interacting regularly with for years, and trusted enough to the point to share her album cover with days before it was announced (which didn’t leak) and to organize specific meet and greets just for them at her shows. it’s likely not that big of a deal now at all but it at least was when she shared them, it’s just a respect thing so it’s disappointing, that’s all

okay this was originally a status update but i have to post it here so more people see it it’s been tripping me out for YEARS… does anyone else remember there being a very very slightly different ending to Cinnamon Girl, where instead of the beat just abruptly stopping, that final hi hat echoes into silence? because i swearrrr that was part of the song at some point, but it’s not on my vinyl or anything either which makes me feel like i’m going crazy. since if it’s not on physicals it’s unlikely it was like that on DSPs at any point and then changed later, which is what i thought happened the first time i noticed it seeming different. but i swearrrr it used to be there 😭 it’s one of the biggest cases of the mandela effect i’ve ever experienced, the ending of Cinnamon Girl has seemed so off to me ever since i realized it seemed different than before i made a quick little edit to prove my point but this is what i remember the outro sounding like the first few months the album was out https://krakenfiles.com/view/U0rSAJ9cr2/file.html and now the beat just stops. it sounds so wrong to me because it used to echo I SWEARRRR

every writer from the track that’s being sampled needs to be credited, so looking at the album credits, the only possibilities are every Lana/Jack original song besides FIILY, Happiness is a Butterfly, and Breaking Up Slowly, but when you consider that it needs to be a fan favorite it also narrows that list down a lot it can’t be Video Games because that song was co-written by Justin Parker

this is my third time saying this in the last 12 hours but idc!! i think the outro of VB, “if you weren’t mine i’d be jealous of your love”, is going to be a part of the chorus of this new song; it’s a fan favorite, it’s catchy, it can be sung over literally anything and easily worked into something else, and maybe that’s why spoiling what track the sample is of is kind of spoiling the whole song itself

it can’t be HBTB unfortunately because Nowels is credited as a writer on that song and not on the album also boz said the interpolation a fan favorite which isn’t necessarily the case for HTD. i feel like it has to be Venice Bitch or something else from NFR that a lot of people love
