  1. a collab would be interesting but weird. i don't think their voices would go well together, but who knows? i'd love to see them hanging out, tho.
  2. break my fall, summer of sam, meet me in the pale moonlight, serial killer, behind closed doors, breaking my heart, dum dum
  3. i always associated it with him because 1) he seems like the tortured artist type, and 2) lana dyed her hair dark before the song leaked.
  4. i've always thought black beauty was about barrie. at least i hope it is. i really wish lana would sing about her present life sometimes.
  5. i don't like that either? lol not going to derail this thread w/that debate but bdsm is literally fetishizing abuse. what do you call getting off to hurting someone else/getting hurt yourself? yes there is "consent" but it doesn't change the fact that harm is being done. & please don't tell me i don't know what i'm talking about bcos i used to be a huge bdsm supporter, so. i love lana's music and all but i don't have to agree with everything she sings about.
  6. if ultraviolence turns out to be about BDSM, i'll set my stan card on fire. fetishizing abuse is terrible & the reason i don't listen to songs like 'push me down' or 'beautiful player' anymore. ugh. i was hoping she'd moved past that ('don't treat me rough, treat me really nice'). we'll see.
  7. it's funny that lana keeps thinking she's a gemini. technically she's a cancer, but really close to the cusp. anyway. if chuck posted the picture too, is it going to be the cover? i like the VHS font and stuff but i wish it was a picture we haven't seen yet
  8. the chorus is-- we're children of the bad revolution & partying's the only solution in our minds there ain't any confusion about who we are, & what we're gonna be we're gonna get free sorry to boost an old thread, but is there really a finer lana song? it's so...slick and sexy.
  9. Yeah and I found another source that says the opposite: http://psychcentral.com/news/2013/12/10/harvard-marijuana-doesnt-cause-schizophrenia/63148.html So don't go claiming things that aren't definitively true.
  10. i can't believe we're having this stupid off-topic debate about weed on a lana forum, but you're so off bounds with this. if you have a family history/some other risk factor(s) of schizophrenia, then YES, smoking weed it a really bad idea! but it doesn't just cause psychosis out of nowhere. do your research.
  11. "weed withdrawals aren't pretty" lol okay. sure.
  12. why are you even in this thread? do you know that you can get addicted to virtually anything in this world? (shopping, eating, etc.) at least with pot if you stop you don't go through horrible withdrawal symptoms. get off your high horse. ANYWAY. you & me is great high.

    New US Tour!

fuuck i hope there are more dates in the summer.
  14. this is my absolute favorite thread. so many great moments! the bridge of "break my fall" . angry/sassy/jilted lana songs are in the minority and they are some of my favorites. i'm not gonna let you become a martyr/not gonna let you pick up the gun/i'm gonna make this a whole lot harder/won't make it easy for you to run! intense lyrics, great background vocals, that last high note.
  15. All of the Scala performances are just perfect. I really like this MDM one: Heart Shaped Box in Oslo: Cola at Olympia, Paris Radio at Jazz Cafe, London Video games at Hackney
  16. i took shrooms & listened to lana and it was heavenly. really solidified how much i appreciate lana! def. recommended.
  17. if black beauty is on the album, i would be down for an alternate, ~darker~ version. otherwise keep it off to make room for new tracks!
  18. i would be happier with her performing unreleased songs live.
  19. nice internalized misogyny. TiWMUG highlights the fact that women put men first cos we're socialized to think finding love and a man is the ultimate goal. "it's a curse"--not something to be proud of like you seem to be.
  20. is there an archive of lana's interviews (especially early ones) anywhere?
  21. the first time i heard it, i couldn't get past the first verse. once i finally listened to the chorus, i was hooked and could appreciate the contrast with the verses. the music video is one of my favorite homemade ones, for sure! i love, love, love the way she says, "you salute me, miss america...because i am...i AM!" just. perfection.
  22. i have to agree with you...a lot of this is reaching.
  23. yes! this was me and 'my best days.' i'd never really paid any attention to it and even though it sounds auto-tuned and unfinished i am kinda addicted.
