Ooh I know what you mean, apologies if anyone thought I was doing an internet self diagnosis. I was just examining the lyrics and the character she’s portraying itself.

Even though I don’t think the Lyricism is her best-this is clearly her most personal album. It’s concept is about both breaking free from destructive tendencies and people whilst also doing this herself and the hypocrisy surrounding it. This links with the cover-is Charli Causing the Car crash as a victim or is it intentional and her own fault? it seems at times that she’s discussing borderline personality disorder almost: The symptoms of BPD can be grouped into 4 main areas: emotional instability – the psychological term for this is affective dysregulation disturbed patterns of thinking or perception – cognitive distortions or perceptual distortions impulsive behaviour intense but unstable relationships with others she even has a lyric calling herself borderline funnily enough. Twice leaves the concept open ended-is it a positive that she is ignoring the difficulties of life or is she lunging into more destructive tendencies?

Is the mixing why her songs are good though? I think it’s mostly Charles melodies and the producers input that does the work. Geoff doesn’t have enough dynamic range-the Lightning strike in Lightning should have been a bit louder.

I don’t see any comparison to Katy Perry nor Dua. it’s funny you say this because move me could of been fit directly on lust for life. lightning is a mix of Freestyle with aspects of the TR dark wave moments. I agree with the Lyricsm though-but that applies to every album after sucker-it became less metaphorical and more straight to the point.

Lightning belongs in Donnie Darko-the Freestyle vibe with a slight Darkwave influence is perfect.

The yuck album version is too sanitised, the demo is miles better despite some vocal compression issues.

Id love a Jack collab-They’d mesh really well and were close friends for years. I’m surprised we don’t have a full album yet. Lorde and Lana don’t mesh with him because they’re soft and restrained in their styles-so they need a strong loud production. Charli is the opposite and needs restraint at times and he’d be able to help with lyricism and a well layered production while she could guide him to make it louder.

The real tea or the exaggerated? charles is vague and says a person turned evil over time but he was fired in 2017 after working with her for years-Azealia claims he pumped her full of drugs when she was younger.

it wasn’t a real grunge revival though, it was a soft grunge aesthetic indie girl thing-Sky exemplified this through her mix of synth pop and noise rock. I agree about the freshness, but all genres draw from the past to bring something new to the future-grunge evolved from metal and punk rock, pop evolved from rock n roll and RnB, Disco evolved from soul etc.

Don’t forget to rip your crash vinyl guys so we can hear the high quality synths 👀 unless the quality is crap of course
