  2. So is it here. In my town I scarcely see more than one or two bottles and often they are all already sold O_o . That's kinda weird but well, maybe people really like it. And my brother wouldn't have his Mtn Dews, wasn't it for our neightboor who owns a shop, we order our drinks directly by him ^^'

    Alizée

Maybe you've heard "J'ai pas vingt ans"? It's also her popular song, although not as much as "Moi... Lolita". You might've heard "J'en ai marre!" too. The rest of her songs is unfortunetely hardly played in radios outside France . You are right! I hate reading people comparing her to MF all the time, saying Lili's not as talented as the red-haired singer... As if you couldn't love them both at the same time. Some people can't forgive her she's not a lolita anymore - come on, even Humbert Humbert knew little girls eventually grow up. Don't get me wrong, I'm alright with it when someone just doesn't like her or judges her music negatively - but saying it's bad only because she is not Mylène... WTF Hahaha, I'm so happy you were wrong no one would reply! What I mean is that I'm just sooo glad to see replies like those, you guys. :3 For me Alizée is the main reason I started studying French too! Oh, I'm sorry about this . Here in Poland it wasn't very expensive for me to buy her Live DVD but it all depends on the country you live in... Anyway, I hope you will finally get it one day!

    Alizée

(If you have not come here to read boring biographies written by Jazz, just roll down and check out Alizée's music & videos) Here comes Mylène's sexually precocious protégée. Her name, Alizée means "trade wind" in French. Alizée was born in Ajaccio, Corsica and feels quite related with this place. She became known in 2000 when her single, Moi... Lolita was released. The song had lyrics written by Mylène Farmer and music composed by Laurent Boutonnat. There a chance you have already heard ML without knowing Alizée's name as it is her most sucessful single and it gained some international popularity. At the beginning of her career, Alizée had a characteristic lolita image. You can see it watching her music videos from that era, her live album En Concert (2004) or hear it in first few albums Gourmandises (2000) and Mes courants électriques... (2003), obviously being Mylène's and Laurent's creation. After she had stopped collaboration with the duet and decided to have a break in her career, she dedicated herself to her family (her daughter, Annily was born). Then she came back with her third album Psychédélices (2007). It did not catch so much attention as the previous ones but well, if something is not popular, it does not mean it is not great. And Psychédélices is, in fact, it used to be my favorite Alizée album but now I am unable to choose one anymore, loving them all equally... The next album, Une enfant du siècle (2010) is claimed to be "a radical change". The lyrics of released songs, written in French, English and Spanish, describe the life of Edie Sedgwick. Being hard electronic pop, it did not satisfy all Alizée fans though. Now it is 2013 and in March this year she released 5. If you are tired of electronical beats of UEDS, here comes the relief - it is something of a renewed '60s style, inspired by France Gall's music. Music videos: Moi... Lolita L'Alizé Parler tout bas Gourmandises J'en ai marre! J'ai pas vingt ans A contre courant Mademoiselle Juliette Fifty-Sixty Les collines (never leave you) A cause de l'automne Some more songs: Lui ou toi J.B.G. 10. This thread is awesome ^_^ I myself don't have any special interesting misheards. (Or maybe I just don't know yet I misheard some songs ) Well, in "Body Electric" I used to hear "I'm seein' my body electric" and thought the character from the song wanted to kill herself by touching electrical wires... In "Without You" in one line I heard "We were to kiss" instead of "we were two kids", then "But when we grew up, nothing was right, it seems". And in "National Anthem" "Quit the Saigon" instead of "Queen of Saigon".

The song that made me fall in love with Lana's music *_*

    Body Electric

When I heard the song for the first time, I had a feeling it was about suicide. (It is indeed mentioned but not the main theme.) It just sounded so... scary? Anyway, later I got the Whitman references but I still have many poems to read!
  16. I don't care how childish the song is, I still like it. But I gotta admit I enjoyed your alternative versions a bit more than the original lyrics, lol
  17. I bet she's very popular, I mean, she's mainstream and it's just epic for me to hear her songs in radio so often . Anyway, when it comes to her popularity particularly in my area... She's well-known, I guess. I cannot tell you now how many of my friends liked her on Facebook because I deleted my account but when I had one, I saw at least some of them surely did. I don't know if there are any people in my school knowing her as May Jailer or Lizzy Grant but it's possible, some are hipsters as far as I know . My parents know I like Lana's music but aren't interested in it themselves, at least so far.
  18. Yeah, I do I don't drink them because of Lana... I just didn't use to drink them at all and then my taste changed . But I do not drink Pepsi or Mt. Dew very often, just sometimes. It's also because of my younger brother, he drinks much of Mt. Dew.
  19. This is what in fact made me her fan : Her lyrics are awesome, I know it sounds too general but it's just the way it is. They often are so touching. She has an absolutely stunning voice. Even if the words said by her were complete rubbish, I could listen to her for hours and hours She has created a fascinating world through her songs, it feels great to be discovering it.

Even songs about partying are gorgeous when it is Lana who creates them
  22. Really sad it is. I'm glad to think this worse chapter of her life is gone...
  23. Even if it's fake it's beautiful I'm not gonna buy it anyway, I'm not such a collector to spend this much ^^'
