I'm open to any new themes with Honeymoon or a continuation of songs about men and love. What has always drawn me to Lana is that she's the anti-feminist where almost every female artist sings songs about empowering women or women running the world etc. I find it refreshing to listen to songs about the damsel in distress, the woman who is left broken because of doomed romance.

Also more themes with death, religion, mental illness (sorry to be so morbid).

Pls maybe we could stop this real/shallow fan BS? Maybe I'm in minority here but I care for her in my own way.

Lana is not a musician by any measure. She's a lyricist and a singer. She contributes sometimes with melodies but that's it for her in the musical department. She needs musicians to build her sound. I don't care about her charting but I care about her performances and that matters regardless your opinion or mine. Without performances you cannot really convey the message of your songs and some of her fans may have a difficulty enjoying her anymore. I reached that point when I need convincing performances from her to enjoy her artistry (the lyrics, the sound is secondary to me in the Honeymoon era). I need her to be strong and show us her abilities as a singer and that she cares about her work (message). If she doesn't take seriously her own work (UV) why should we? As you said, some of her fans will stop following her after the Honeymoon era but not necessarily as flop stans but as people who don't want to follow a mediocre artist which has nothing left to give. She brought this on herself by hastily announcing this era without doing anything significant with UV. You know her explanation for UV: it's a mix of east coast and west coast vibe done in the middle. Really?! That's it? Enjoy the music!

I really hope we get some well-written choruses with Honeymoon. Lana and co got a bit lazy with chorus writing on UV and there was a lot of repetition. I miss choruses like BTD, VG and Ride.

Again I'm noticing how anything Lana says about this new album is being taken in two completely different contexts by those who want a sound on the same vein as BTD or those who want a sound on the same vein as UV.

Again I think we'll just have to wait and see what the finished product sounds like.

I really loved Miley's rendition of Summertime Sadness - I was shocked at how good she can sing.

Um, I thought it'd be common sense to interpret that as her opinion and not a general statement (which i agree with)

Lana exists as an artist because of people like you and me (we listen to her music, watch her performances). It's a gap between the perfect artist and an artist that doesn't perform live except 50 min. in singalongs with her fans. Forgive my "misplaced" expectations towards her (that of singing live with confidence and in tune)

I think a lot of people are missing the point when I brought up the fact that my preferential album was the one that appealed to a mass audience.

I had been called 'basic' by a fellow member and the point I'm making is that although its meant in a derogatory way, I'm not offended by it.

The point is, I do prefer the album that was more commercially appealing and there's nothing wrong with that. Yep I'm one of those cliche fans that many music snobs on here look down on complete with the flower garlands in my hair - but theres room for us all! I'm not interested in dissecting every song Lana creates and attempting to appreciate a song that otherwise doesn't push my buttons by emphasising how 'lyrically artistic' the song is, and I'm not interested in joining competitions to be Lana's biggest or most loyal fan either.

Thank you. You see, I dont feel the need to bow down to every move Lana makes... I didn't enjoy Ultraviolence as much as BTD. Yeah that's right - I preferred the more marketable album that appealed to the general masses than the less successful one, because for me BTD, has the better songs that I simply prefer to listen to. I see no point in lying and if that makes me "literally so basic" then literally so be it.
Would love Honeymoon to be a return to BTD sound or would appreciate something fresh, but please, do not return to Ultraviolence.

Let's not get in to who is Lana's biggest fan (certainly I'm not a delusional fan partly because I follow her for a long time). But where are the lies tho?1. She can be depressing (with her words or actions)
    2. BTD 2.0 or UV 2.0 would be boring (for me at least, I would never listen to a Dark Paradise type of song again)
    3. Mega pop stardom for her, in my opinion, is doomed to failure because she cannot perform at that level (and she's not willing to learn)

Her only possibility, in my view, to further her career is to have another critically acclaimed album (with moderate commercial success, something between UV and BTD) but for achieving this she'll have to evolve lyrically and she will have to bring an updated sound to the table (what is wrong with that?)

Maybe the songs had sounded like that before Dan took over.

Black Beauty is kinda the best song on UV...Even though Lana was against putting the song on it.  (ended up being bonus anyways)

I'd love the hear all of the songs before Dan horrendous production.

With that said, I love how some of ya'll keep preaching how Mark Ronson produced lots of ROCK ROCK ROCK records.

Ya know wat, he also produced a ton of hip hop records: Lil Wayne, Nas, Wale, Q-tip and Lana also said the record will have a sound close to BTD. So there's that. Billboard interview happened after Grazia "Soft Grunge" comment.

His music is very commercial I think it will be a far cry from UV, but I also don't think it will be particularly close to BTD either.

You've completely missed my point, not once did I say Born To Die was better because it appealed to the masses, it's better because it is (for me).

Except the quality of UV's music wasn't particularly high.

Nah...that was just a fashion attempt gone wrong. Nothing new, nothing worthy this much attention honeslty, next please. The interesting thing  I will never get over is the irony of having Kelly Osborne from all people criticizing fashion, not that the others that present the show have any taste but Kelly is the cherry of the cake.

I love the "Born to Die" album. And YES this is an unpopular opinion cause lately a lot of people have been trashing it. It's flawless (maybe except Lolita) and it's always gonna be my favorite.
